Is a MacBook pro good a high school student going into tenth grade?

Hi I'm going into tenth grade and I have a dell notebook that is the only laptop in the house but after one second of unplugging it dies. Also if I get a MacBook, my mom and I would each have computer to use. I like to go online, listen to music, play games, take pictures and videos, and do homework on it. I am also looking for a laptop with a CD drive.

Please help!

If you have the money, Yes! My oldest son is going to university and my other son is going into the 10th grade also. My younger son requires a laptop with power and portability, a regular other laptop is not very powerful with huge battery drainage. But I don't think you would need the Retina display, extremely expensive but it is kind of worth it. My older son has the retina display macbook pro and he loves it. I think this Macbook Pro would fit your needs perfectly.

    15-inch: 2.3 GHz
    2.3GHz quad-core Intel Core i7
    Turbo Boost up to 3.3GHz
    4GB 1600MHz memory
    500GB 5400-rpm hard drive1
    Intel HD Graphics 4000
NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 512MB of GDDR5 memory
    Built-in battery (7 hours)2
I hope i wasn't to late, but if this is a bit expensive, it would be better if you were to go for the 13", very portable and still powerful. Good Luck!
