microphone input in Mac Pro
I have a headset with microphone in order to make phone calls, using skype. However it was a surprise to find that the Mac Pro does not have an input jack for microphone as in Windows based lap tops. Am I missing something?

Seeing as though all the answers are about the MacBook Pro instead of the MacPro which is what the question is referring to. Plug your mic into the port next to the headphone jack on the back. Will look like a circle and it has an arrow pointing toward it. That is both a "speaker" port and an "audio in" port. It's like a combo port. If you do not get mic response, go into system preference after connecting it and change the function on the port from speaker in audio input and you will be fine. I use the port with a gaming headset with built in mic all the time.

The 13" MBP has one port for audio in/out. You can either use headphones with an inline mic (like the kind that comes with the iPhone) or just not use an external mic at all. If you use headphones with no mic, your MacBook will just use the built in microphone. The 15" and 17" MBPs do have separate audio input ports.
