Retina Macbook Pro - Native mini-display output - does this mean I can use my cinema display?

I am looking to buy a new macbook pro retina 15in -- the description says - "native mini-display output" . I have a non-thunderbolt cinema display can i use it with the new macbook?

You can use your non thunderbolt cinema display with a thunderbolt output on the mac, but you will still need to connect the USB from the display also to use the hub function!

It's running fine for me in this scenario!
