Like most people, I paid $30 for software that I expected to simply make it easy to copy videos for my daughter's ipod Video.

It's bull. We spent about 2 hours trawling through the "help" pages trying to de-code and understand the geek-speak - all to no avail.

Unless you're some kind of home film-maker with a future career in film production, this product is a poinless waste of your money.

In my case, Apple won a cheap sale - but lost a customer.

ok i have purchased the quicktime 7 pro, for the same reason most of my fellow ipod video comrads have, to import videos into the ipod, the fact is that, the format process is SO LENGTHLY, SLOW, ETC. but check this out the ending is even greater.. ive managed to see my videos on the ipod, but NO SOUND!!! now what is that all about, till someone finds the way to work around that, the QUICKTIME 7 PRO KEY IS WORTHLESS, WASTE OF $29.99 SERIOUSLY!!! DONT BUY IT!!!

    Don't Waste Your Money!!!

    • Written by from Waggaman

This Program SUCKS! Don't waste your money on it. I would rate it no stars if i could.

I bought an ipod with video and i was hoping this program would let me convert all my home videos stored on my computer to a format that my ipod could read. It doesn't. Whenever you try to open a movie file in it, it just says the file is not a movie file. I tried over and over again, and it just doesn't work. Quicktime support couldn't even tell me how to use it.

I saw that it was rated really low when i bought, but i ignored the reviews, and wasted my money. All i wanted to do was put home videos on my ipod. IT DOESN'T WORK. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!

    Deceptive False Advertising

    • Written by from Commack

If you go to apple.com and find Quicktime pro 7, a whole slew of features will be described. One prominent feature is quoted in this page: "Create video for iPod. Easily convert your existing movie collection for playback on iPod." After buying quicktime pro I could not figure out how to convert my videos off my computer so I called Apple's customer support. After several calls to get support with this "user-unfriendly" program, they said that I had to buy an add-on to Quicktime Pro for another $20 called Mpeg-2 because all of my videos were Mpeg-1 muxed. I've already spent $30 on quicktime pro. Correct me If I'm wrong, but didn't the quote I stated from that web page say you could easily convert your videos to your ipod with Quicktime 7 Pro? If one Apple product works only if you buy another, then it only makes sense to buy from Apple if you literally have an infinite amount of money. I went through all this trouble getting videos on my iPod... Ironically it is called the Ipod Video.

at 15 £19.99 is a lot of money after spending £220 on a new video ipod to then find out you need to buy more software. after 27 hours exporting a 22 minute tv show, i got video but no sound. this was the only tv show out of ten that would actually play in quicktime. computer is a 1.7ghz with ati radeon 9700/64mb graphic card 512 mb ddr ram which comes to a standstill when running this program. tried a trial 10 minute limit download carried out similar transfer in 5 minutes. now saving up for full program of PQ DVD.

To be fair I will write first about the positives: Easy to download, although the look of the QT 7.0 did not change. Verificaiton comes in two ways. 1. Funcitonality within the drop-downs became available. 2. In control panel, the Register tab states at the bottom, Quick Time 7 Pro. The bad and the ugly: Lost a 16 GB movie I tried to convert using this program. Not to mention that for every minute of video you plan to convert, it will take 10 times longer than original to complete the processs. Plan to spend the better part of day to perform these type tasks. The best way to avoid disappointment, if your intention was like mine, to download home movies of greather than 3 GB, DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SOFTWARE. It simply is not designed for such operations. The hipe about downloading your favorite seasons of tv shows, led me to believe that I could do this seamless with home movies. Not a good idea. Research out your home movie files carefully, especially if they are formatted in MPEG-2. If so plan to spend more money on an upgrade. Even then, by statements made from customer support, "no guarantees they will run". Addionally, once you have made the purhcase, it is final, no going back for refund. I burned $33.00. You know what they say, education costs money. Good Day to all.

How do I give this 0 stars? My daughter got a mpeg4 video camera over the holidays and we want to edit the video files, they play ok in wmp 9 and open in premiere elements but they are hard to edit in premiere as it assumes they are 720x480 when they are 320x240. I searched the internet and found that quicktime pro would work. Ok I bought it only to find out you cannot edit any videos its just a stupid player, then found it does not open any of the videos either. What a rip off. Should have learned my lesson with the bad itunes that keeps duplicating my files in the library or the ipod that does not understand different logins and deletes all of my songs when my daughter logs in. Apple should stick to hardware design, but get out of the programming business. How do I get a refund or did I just get burned?

Dont waste your money on Quick time pro

    • Written by from Hicksville

If you want to upload your dvd movies to your new IPOD video, do not waste your time or money with quick time pro. It does not work. I cant even view movies without pruchasing additonal software. What a bunch of crooks. Save your money and buy a crative MP3 player. So much more easy to use. These scammers at Apple are the worst. They take your money, promise you products but neglect to tell you basic info before you purchase.

Doesn't work well with iPod Video

    • Written by from Cameron

I upgraded to Pro to make video files for my iPod video. Apple says you can but I would not suggest this program for it. You pay $30 and the only thing it will for sure make an iPod compatable file is .mov (Quicktime format) it Does not support AVI or MPEG-1 or MPEG-2. If you want mpeg 1 or 2 support you have to buy another upgrade for $19.99. If you dont ur mpeg movies will not have sound. I have found better programs by just searching the web. If you want this for your iPod I highly discourage it.

Not doing what I thought it could.

    • Written by from Hyde Park

I want to import my home movies into my new Ipod. I read that I needed Quick Time Pro to do this. I bought 2 copies for 2 computers. I can't get this to work. I opened the files from Quick time Pro then exported them for IPOd and they vanished. There were frequent crashes. I tried smaller files. Once I was actually able to drag a file into the library but when I tried to play it, I got an error. I hope Apple fixes whatever is wrong and/or fixes their online help.

    Exporting Video

    • Written by from Runcorn

If your purchasing QT Pro just for exporting video to your iPOD, a word of warning... At best it can take hours to convert a 60MB MPEG file (VCD format), on Athlon 2800xp with 768MB RAM, 7200rpm HD. Or it may crash from time to time. I just purchased QT Pro for this reason alone and I'm not too happy with the results. I wish I'd visited the discussion forums before making the purchase.

    Very Unhappy

    • Written by from Beltsville

I just got an ipod for xmas, and I wanted to be able to convert video files to a format my ipod would support. I bought QT Pro, and was very disappointed to find out it DID NOT WORK. Appearantly you can convert files already supported by Quicktime, but nothing else. And by the way, what is already supported by QT? My home video files, commercial DVDs, nothing seemed to work. Finally I was able to find a free program that converted my files to mpg4, which I was able to load into itunes and export to my ipod with no problem. If you are getting QT Pro to support your video ipod - DONT BOTHER. Its not worth it. For everyone at Apple: QT pro stinks, but i love my ipod.

    No video for my iPod

    • Written by from Beaverton

I bought a 60gb iPod so I could play the videos that I take with my digital camera. Then I find out that my iPod doesn't play .avi's. That doesn't make sense sense it is one of the more common version for windows users.

Lets face it. Apple has switched to accomodate windows users. That's why they only give you a USB 2.0 cable with the iPod instead of both USB and Firewire (more common on Macs).

Then I find out I need Quicktime Pro to convert my .avi's to mpg4 which will work on my iPod. I shelled out the $30 and installed the QT 7.03 pro key. I tried the inaugural export to mpg4 and QT 7.03 promptly crashed. I kept trying and cannot get any video to export. Windows crash manager/reporting takes me to an information page that say's they have investigated the crash and determined that it is QT related. No amount of digging in the QT website or help menu provides any help for the crashes.

So I still haven't got a video on my iPod and am out another $30. :(
