too short life span for the price

    • Written by from Prague 10 - Strasnice

It is a really nice gadget. If only it lasted longer. At first it was awsome. But after a few months the batteries started to inflate themselves a bit. Not much but it was noticable and you could see and feel a slight bump at the bottom of magic mouse. The recharging frequence changed from weeks to days. Also the bateries started being unreliable. It happened quite often that magic mouse suddenly disconnected several times in a short period even when batteries were fully charged. I had to stop using the product and switch back to regular batteries and the issues have completely stopped. With regular batteries magic mouse is perfectly stable and seldom disconnecting starts happening only when batteries are close to 6% which is understandable. I am sorry to say but I cannot recommend the product unless you plan to use it for a few months only.

    Short Lifespan

    • Written by from Lawrenceville

I really loved the Mobee Magic Charger and recommended it frequently. Then just over a year, it died. The battery pack started having issues connecting, then it simply stopped taking a charge. I figured that I may not have been charging it correctly or something, so I bought another one. Just after a year, the exact same thing. And I started hearing from folks that purchased it on my recommendation that they too, had almost the exact same issue. Now I just keep a battery charger loaded with AA batteries next to my desk and swap out as necessary.

Although I really loved the product, until they do some SERIOUS work on the quality of the product, i will not buy again, nor will I recommend it to anyone.

CAUTION: Disconnection Issues, returned to rechargeable batteries

    • Written by from O Fallon

After about a month of use, the Mobee Magic Charger began to cause issues with Bluetooth connectivity. After searching through the Apple forums and trying all the solutions to keep my Magic Mouse connected, and none of them fixing the issue while continuing to use Mobee, I simply took the Mobee battery pack off the mouse and returned to using rechargeable batteries, and have had no issues with connectivity since. Perhaps this is a glitch with my particular unit (given all the glowing reviews here) but regardless, if it's an issue for one, it's probably an issue for many. Proceed with this caution in mind.

    A bit disappointed!

    • Written by from Longueuil

I think it had never charge to 100%. I used it 3 times, and now, after a night of charge, it's only at 80%... A bit disappointed!

    Poor battery life

    • Written by from Breda

In the beginning this product seemed to work "okay"; I had to charge it like once a week orso, with an activity of max 4 hours a day. But nowadays I have to charge the battery every day and sometimes twice a day. It just drains a whole lot and it seems to be getting worse. Too bad because I thought it was a nice product. At least better than changing batteries all the time

I'll take the Apple rechargeable battery pack.

    • Written by from Baltimore

I've been a long-time fan of the Apple rechargeable battery pack having at least three of these. But I got suckered into a slick new technology that seemed simple and foolproof enough...I was only partially right. The device is nicely constructed to match the Magic Mouse. It comes with the charging pad and a battery pack/cover that replaces the corresponding Apple parts. But from there on , it's been downhill for me.

My two biggest complaints are centered around the very reason one would purchase the Magic Charger. The batteries do not hold a charge despite being on the charging pad overnight. It will drain up to 50% of it's charge in less than a day. Seems excessive... Second, it loses the connection to the Mac on a regular basis as I'm working. This is REALLY annoying! Right now I've replaced the Mobee batteries with some off-the-shelf EverReady Lithium batteries. So far no disconnection, so I've pretty much ruled out everything but the Mobee batteries. Don't expect me to figure out why, I'm just interested in the results.

    Flawed product

    • Written by from Swindon

Echoing so many of the other reviews here - I bought one of these (Apple store, Portland OR), and it worked great for about 10 days. Now, however, it won't charge (or at least, report a charge) beyond 3 or 4%, and I get constant "mouse battery low" notifications and random disconnections.
As a concept, great. As an implementation - second rate. I expected better; don't Apple do basic quality screening on products they stock in their stores?

    Great....at first.....then....not so much

    • Written by from Brentwood

I usually wait on reviews as a product may work great for the first little while - but what I am most interested in - is the long term viability for a product....and this one fails miserably..

ok...so nothing lasts forever....everyone gets that....but i would expect this product to last at LEAST 2 years.....I've had mine for just a smidge over a year and now.....DEAD. Won't hold a decent charge - constantly losing connection and flashing the battery symbol in the bluetooth icon.

i have a 5 year old blackberry that holds a better charge than this.

Charges best with battery out of mouse...

    • Written by from Sunnyvale

...yet never seems to reach a full charge. I've never seen higher than 85% even when it was new and I let it charge overnight.

Had the mouse for about 2 months or so, and the highest I'm able to charge now is 82% with zero use, out of the mouse, roughly 14 hours charging. Battery runs down quickly with use. I'll be at half charge by the end of today. Disappointing.

2 star rating: 1 for the fact that it basically works and 1 for the design idea.

Great at first, but fails over time

    • Written by from Cottage Grove

I bought this charger at the Apple Store in May 2012. Since then, the occasional disconnects were because of low battery charge, and putting the mouse back on the charger always resolved those disconnect issues. In late December 2013, the disconnects became constant and the computer was almost unusable. No amount of recharging would help as the battery level % was pretty high. There had always been a lot of scratching on the bottom of this battery pack, but as I looked a bit closer, the battery pack was sagging so much I am not sure the mouse was making proper connections anymore. Too bad, it seemed like a great idea, but with less than 2 years of personal use, the battery pack is shot.

A nice idea but not worth the trouble.

    • Written by from Calgary

If you're going to use this battery pack in your magic mouse, keep a lot of batteries or a corded backup handy.

You will feel good about being environmentally friendly.
You will feel good imagining never buying batteries again.

You will never consistently return the mouse to the charging pad after using it.
Your mouse will die and then you will have no mouse.
Your mouse will die at the most inopportune times.
The battery pack will swell and bulge and begin to scuff after a few months.
The flimsy metal around the clasp will snap in two places.
You will end up buying batteries anyway.
You will end up connecting a second corded mouse as a backup.

    Very Sketchy Product

    • Written by from Spring Branch

The Mobee battery pack and bottom cover are molded together and replace the existing magic mouse battery compartment cover. The tab/lock on the first MObee battery pack unit I received, bent when I installed it and the battery pack would not fit in the battery compartment snugly. After reinserting the battery pack, the tab/lock snapped off, which meant the battery pack wouldn't stay in place at all.

I reported this to Mobee and they sent me a new unit quickly - good customer service.

The second Mobee battery pack worked for about a year and a half, but the tab/lock periodically worked itself loose and the battery pack wouldn't stay put. Additionally, when the battery pack was loose, the mouse tracking would respond erratically - which came to be the sign that the battery pack was loose. So, after about a year and a half of reseating the battery pack, the battery pack cover broke and rendered it useless.

After that bad experience, I went back to the original Apple battery plate cover and rechargeable batteries - Ahhhh, no more problems. As such, I could never recommend anyone purchase this device because it is completely unreliable and irritating to maintain - at least that was my experience.

    Not for me

    • Written by from Palm Springs

I received this for Christmas as a gift. Both my wife and I thought it was a great idea to help save the environment from more land fill of alkaline batteries.
My first impression was it is heavier than using the AA batteries. You have to turn it off and on to get the correct battery level in the System Preferences and it is still not correct, it never reaches 100%. It is not easy to install or remove from the back. Maybe because of the weight. I am sorry but I think this product although a good idea is not for me. Too many issues for the benefits.

    Nice idea, mediocre product

    • Written by from LOS ANGELES

The problem with the Apple Magic Mouse is that the batteries go weak and then die out in a way that is inconvenient and frustrating. The solution offered by the Mobee Magic Charger offers a lot of promise, but ultimately fell short of even my modest expectations. Everything about the product's concept and design is impressive, but after several weeks of use, the charger's battery can't seem to hold any power. I gave up on it and it is now less functional than a paperweight, sitting on the charging pad. The manufacturer website says this product can power a mouse for six days without charging. I've had it sitting on my charging pad for six days and the battery level remains steady at 11% and green light is still blinking. I've gone back to a wired mouse because when I'm using a computer the last thing I need to pay attention to is whether my mouse is going to work.

    Not a snug fit

    • Written by from Dubai

Since no one else reported this problem, it appears to be particular to some units only. In the unit I bought, the battery pack does not snugly fit into the magic mouse, which results in random on/off of the mouse because of the battery unit loose fit. This renders the unit pretty unusable!
