Great Mouse - But Be Careful About EM Interference (Jittery/Jumpy mouse)

    • Written by from Seattle

This is a great mouse. The feel is good, i love the big tactile scroll wheel, and Logitech provides the latest SW from their site so you can configure buttons/speeds/etc. This is a USB mouse not a bluetooth mouse so the USB wireless receiver will require a USB port in your setup. About 3 months ago I eliminated a USB hub that had the tiny Logitech mouse receiver plugged into it. The hub was then wired via a 3 foot cable to my computer (2013 Trashcan Mac Pro). But when I eliminated the wired hub I noticed that I could no longer do precision drawing work with the mouse. Up until that time the mouse tracking was so precise I didn't even need my Bamboo. Finally, after getting very frustrated I started experimenting to try and eliminate the jittery/jumpy behavior. Mind you that NOTHING in my setup had changed to cause this behavior except for one thing, the Logitech mouse receiver was now inserted directly into one of the USB ports on my MacPro. THIS turned out to be the problem. Before the receiver was 3 feet away in a USB hub. When I brought out the wired hub and plugged the tiny receiver into that, jitter and jumpiness disappeared. So EM interference can be an issue with this mouse. If it is, just plug the receiver into a node that is away from your computer/display/other components and see if a geospatial solution (i.e. moving the receiver around), works for you. My final solution ended up being a 3 foot USB extender cable so I can move the receiver around freely to "tune" reception. The mouse and I are now happily married again!!!

The mouse is absolutely amazing in it's built and functions. It has made everything easier to do and also faster. It is very good and maybe even better than the magic mouse.

    the mouse of my dreams

    • Written by from Richmond

I got this to replace an Apple Magic Mouse, which had given me one headache after another since I bought it. The Logitech is GREAT! Plug in the USB "Unifying Receiver" and that's it - the mouse is ready to go. I also love the fact that the battery should last 2 years (the Magic Mouse ate a couple of batteries every 2 weeks).
I've had no problems using Safari, Chrome or any of my Apps. Unless it self-destructs at midnight, the Logitech is a keeper. And I'm going to give the Magic Mouse a fitting farewell (as soon as I get my sledgehammer).

    Wonderful & less expensive!

This mouse works very well, and it is less expensive than the Magic Mouse. If you are afraid it won't work with your Macbook, do not worry! It works wonderfully with my Macbook. All you need to do is plug in the little piece that comes with it, and the mouse will work! :)

    Great for hands

    • Written by from Berkeley

This mouse has made my mousing painless. It fits right in my hand, and now that I have used it for a few days I could never go back to the magic mouse. Selecting and clicking only require tiny finger movements, which relieve the arthritic joints in my thumb and wrist. I find that it works easily with Safari and Chrome, and the side buttons function when there is a slideshow of photos to go back and forward. I think there may be more functions I am not using, but just the ease, lightness and natural feel of the mouse are enough for me to be completely satisfied.

One of the best mice on the market

If you need to get REAL work done, look no further. This mouse kicks bottom. Very comfortable, great size, and tracking is excellent with it's laser tracking.

Logitech support is fantastic... and great warranty. If you're looking for a replacement for your awful Apple mouse, GET THIS!

    Solid, accurate mouse!

    • Written by from Stettler

After giving up on Apple's attempt at a wireless mouse (had two of them, both lemons that were a constant problem for me before they died shortly after the warranty expired), I was glad that I decided to try this mouse from Logitech. I always use a 3M precision mousing surface for my mice, and I find absolutely no less degree of accuracy from the Logitech mouse than from the Apple wireless mouse. The Logitech mouse may not be as slim, but it does seem to fit the hand better, which I far prefer to Apple's rather awkward feeling mouse.

    Great Investment

I'm very particular about my mice. This M510 has served me well for over two years without replacing the batteries. It has weight to it so it feels nice when using it. It also feels amazing in the hand. Scroll wheel is pretty well built. Not as precise as I would like it to be, but it works very well. It tracks well on most surfaces, not including glass. The back and forward keys are a life saver when browsing the internet. They did not work originally though, I had to install an app called SteerMouse. It automatically mapped my buttons accordingly. Great mouse!

    The End of My Search

    • Written by from Lillington

The end of my search for the perfect mouse. I have used the original Mighty Mouse that came with my 2008 iMac, the Magic Mouse that I got to replace the Mighty Mouse when its scroll wheel quit working, the Logitech M555b that would not go a day without losing contact with the iMac, and the Logitech Performance Mouse MX that came with a CD that informed me that it would not work with my 2008 iMac that had been upgraded to Lion version 10.7.4. This Logitech Wireless Mouse M510 is just perfect for my use, without any download of Logitech software that is available for it at a website that is identified in the enclosed paperwork. Disregard the review on this page that alleges that this mouse "doesn't work with some web browsers (notably safari and Chrome) on Mac OS"; I don't find any problem with it working perfectly with my Safari browser in Mac OS X Lion, and I'm sure if there may be any problem that has not occurred during my use of it, said problem would be solved by a download of the Logitech software that is offered in the paperwork that came with the mouse.

Very nice mouse, works flawlessly with everything. The other review states that the mouse doesn't work with Chrome and Safari. If you install the Logitech software you can customize the mouse and it will then work with both browsers. No complaints here.

    Well worth buying

    • Written by from Fort Collins

The M510 does everything i need it to - Gaming, browsing, precision work, and graphic design all work well with this. No software, just plug in the receiver and you're ready to go. The receiver itself is conveniently small, and if I want to take it to another computer, a little slot in the Battery compartment keeps it safe so I don't lose it. The only complaint I would have is that it doesn't work with some web browsers (notably safari and Chrome) on Mac OS, but the back/forward buttons do on Firefox and Opera.
