    Doesn't hold a charge.

    • Written by from Southampton

The case is rather too smooth, slippery when my hands are moist. However, its ability to hold a charge decreased markedly within a few months. Yesterday, I dropped it on a lawn and the bottom connection has deformed, now I can't charge it as the micro-USB port has deformed. I'll wait for the new iPhone to be released before considering another mophie.

    Good battery useless case

    • Written by from TORONTO

This is good if you want backup-power on the go. But if you're looking for a case that can protect your iPhone, look elsewhere. My iPhone fell from just 3 feet onto a tiled surface (not tarmac) and the screen broke because the sides are not high enough to prevent the screen from touching the ground and the case does not absorb shock properly. In fact it may increase the chances of damage to your phone as it adds extra weight, which is counter-protective if your phone falls face down. And none of us plans which way out phones will fall in a mishap, right?

    Great when it works....

    • Written by from Bellingham

...but two of them have failed on me. I'm on my second Mophie, and after only a few weeks it, like the first one, has developed a short in the charging port so that it no longer charges. Very frustrating and disappointing.

Extremely disappointing. Except when it works, then it's great!

Even the USB cable that comes in the box would not sync the 4S to iTunes, although it would charge the Mophie and the iPhone. I tried another cable and it synced fine, so I blamed the original cable. Then it seemed like any USB cable I would plug into it when I wanted to charge the thing (I have them at the ready all over the house, as I suppose many folks do nowadays) would sometimes work and sometimes not. (Or would work for ten minutes and then quit.) You could "play around with it" and get it to go, but it became more bothersome every day and I hadn't even owned it a month.
So I decided that maybe the fault didn't lie with the male ends of the cables but rather with the female end that's situated inside the Mophie, so I brought it back and exchanged it. Just got it home, and here we go again. EVEN THE CABLE THAT COMES WITH IT IN THE BOX WON'T SYNC with iTunes, and using any of several other USB cables will sometimes charge and sometimes not. And For $80, seriously? How are these people still in business??
But, when charged, it's as if your phone will run forever -- you can forget that you're even using a battery at all!

    Do not buy this product!!!!

    • Written by from Calgary

Okay so I bought this battery pack like 2 or 3 months ago and I was excited to buy this because I've heard some decent things about it. It takes a long time to charge it and the smaller battery pack that I bought gives about 50-60% of battery which is awesome when your phone's battery is about to die. This product comes in two pieces the bigger piece that goes around the phone and a smaller piece that goes in the charging port of the phone. After using it a few times the two pieces started to get loose and now it doesn't even connect to the phone that's how loose it is and without the smaller piece you can't charge your phone.
    Price: $80
    Worth: $30

    Paint chips

    • Written by from Palatine

    Dear, Customer support

I am very displeased with the Mophie juice pack air for the iPhone 4/4s. Upon buying my first i was ecstatic and very happy to use my new mophie, however I didn't really put it on until a while later. After three days of use the mine usb "port," was pushed back into the mophie, now i couldn't charge it, additionally after a measured 6 inch drop onto wooden flooring, paint was severely chipped off. this made me very depressed because the case was $80 and now that hard earned money had gone to waste. I used my warrantee and received a second mophie juice pack air, this time I assumed that the first mophie's problems were my fault. I treated this second one like a baby, every night I checked that the cord was right side up, i plugged it in ever so gently and in the morning I removed the plug and kept the mophie inside of a bag to keep it safe, the following night i did the same as the past, in the morning when i was gently removing the power cord from the "port," it would't come out, so i gently wiggled it and hoped for the best.
Still nothing so with a vigorous tug i managed to get the cord out but the port came with it along with bending the flimsy siding of the case, this rendered my mophie un chargeable and just a plain case.
I am planning on switching to a portable charging device from a different company, mophie products are seemingly put together sloppily and are made of flimsy week and cheap materials. Please talk to someone about this so that your company can truly say, "Mophie loves you."

    Not so great

    • Written by from Williamsburg

Mine is already dinged up from dropping it in the parking lot, and I'm surprised at all the people who say it's hard to get off of their iPhone, because mine came apart twice pretty easily. Unfortunately the first time was the parking lot and because it came apart easily, I've got a ding on my phone itself. The second time it came apart was inside the house, simply taking it out of my purse. Not happy with that. Also, I don't like plugging it in to recharge it in my room at night, the LEDs are way too bright and no way to dim or turn them off. Or try to cover it up with something; too much hassle. And it does take a long time to charge up so the best time to do it is overnight.

The xtra power is nice but take care with the mini-usb connection

    • Written by from Oak Park

I like having the extra battery life but the whole device becomes quite a large presence in my pocket. I kind of miss my belt clip case but again I do need that extra battery life. Main problem is the USB port. Mine sunk into the case after coming loose over 2 months and the usb would no longer connect. Sent it back and got new one free, still under warranty. We'll see how long this one lasts and I'll be even more careful about plugging it in. Also when plugged in mine will not connect to iTunes but not a big deal, I can get it out of the case easily if needed. With iCloud not such a necessity.

Yes, it does give the iPhone a good charge while on-the-go, but it does have some pretty big inconveniences/flaws. The case takes quite a long time to charge (4-5+ hours for a full charge), which is fine if you're going to charge it over night, but anytime other than that will probably not be very convenient. Also if the case gets any chip, scratch, etc in the thin layer of white paint that encapsulates the case, the surrounding paint will start to flake and chip off, and just look very bad. And finally once the iPhone is "snapped" into place, in order to get it out you must bend the sides out and push on the back to "pop" the iPhone out. This would be fine, except for the fact that every time you do that, the back panel that holds the battery in, comes out of place. Overall, I would not advise buying this case, unless these flaws do not pose that big of an issue to you.
