    Not meant for durability

Bought 2 of these and they are both dead after a year. First the Audio port fails because the connection fail to engage any longer internally which really causes the product to be useless at that point. Then eventually the picture no longer worked as well on one of them. Very poor quality.

    Requires Powered HDMI port

FYI - This device will not work on retina Macbook Pros or the new Mac Minis. It requires a powered HDMI port which are not available on those machines. Save yourself the time if you are trying to connect a Mini or MB pro retina.

    For what it is . . . . .

The device works to a degree. It does not recognize HDCP and thus is basically useless. I downloaded a video from iTunes for my iPad. When I connected to my vga projector I kept getting a HDCP error and it would not play. Using it in the classroom with my iPad, it works with most of my appications and does a fair job.

I would not recommend it for most users. There are less expensive ways to go that work much better.

    Cuts out intermitently

I hooked mine up to Apple TV in my classroom. The Apple TV worked flawlessly at home with just hdmi, but when I hooked it up through the adapter to my vga cable, it cuts out for about 2 seconds every minute or so. My projector gives a lost connection error while it cuts out. Hoping it is just a problem with too long of a cord (50 feet) like one of the other reviews said and I can fix it by hooking it up closer to the projector, but I'm dissapointed that I have to move my classroom around now to make this adapter work.
