    Not Stable or Level

    • Written by from Atlanta

I love the look of this stand, however my 15" MBP wobbles and is not level. The screen is tilts no matter how I adjust the piston or the position of my laptop. Pretty disappointed. Will return and try another brand.

HiRise Twelve South for MacBookAir beautiful yet useless

    • Written by from Cote St Luc

I am so disappointed with my recent purchase- the Twelve South HiRise stand for my MacBookAir 11 inches slides off completely. I adjusted and readjusted following the instructions, but the inclination of the stand does not move, only the height can be changed. I am baffled at how such features could pass any kind of quality control testing. I am returning this stand to the store and will buy another adjustable stand.

Using it right, laptop still slips down

    • Written by from lake forest

I'm using the stand the correct way, with the rectangular section on the desktop and the V section holding the laptop. I use a Mac Air and it still constantly slips down or sideways. I think it might be the various cords and attachments pulling on it. Regardless, it's annoying and I'm now going to buy a new stand!

    Looks nice...

    • Written by from Santa Rosa

I have had great experiences with twelve south products but this is definitely not one that I would recommend to others.
In fact i will be returning this product. If i could upload pictures of this product and it failing to hold my macbook pro 13 then I would. the HiRise does not hold your macbook well. Several times while using my laptop I need to push it back or replace it on the stand.

It may seem at first that the rubber pads should hold your laptop but that wrong. Even now as am writing this review with my wireless keyboard I can see it slipping downward.

DO NOT BUY THIS STAND. Buy a better one...for cheaper!! Just ordered the mStand from Rain and will be returning this product later today.

    Don't bother with it!

    • Written by from Dallas

I was recently looking for a stand and while at the store, looked at some reviews for this particular stand and it was at 3 stars, so i knew i was taking a 50/50 risk. The risk was not worth it. It slides on the bottom, but right out of the box it also slips from the top, i set my macbook on the stand and a few minutes in it already starts to slip off. I still give it another chance so I leave the room for a few minutes, and when i come back my macbook is on the table tilted OFF the stand. I give it another try; same thing. I'm on my way to return this dumb product in exchange for something else. DO NOT waste your time on this stand, really, save your time!

Get ready to watch your laptop fall right off

    • Written by from Denver

I must say, I'm surprised by how poorly this stand works. Within an hour placing my laptop (13" MacBook Pro) slides right off the stand, and impacted with the surface of my desk. If I don't constantly push the laptop in place, it just slides off again.

Also, the adjustable neck is loose and wobbly, despite the numerous attempts I made at readjusting it. Unless I wedge the laptop up against my external monitor, the laptop (on the stand) sits at a noticeable slant.

I bought this yesterday, and I'll be returning it to the Apple store today. Bummer, because it looked so cool.

    Good idea but...

    • Written by

The problem I have is that the angle is too sharp and the rubber doesn't grip, because as I'm working the computer begins to slide. I have to push it back up the stand every few minutes. I MUST take the computer off the stand before I leave the room or I hear the gut-wrenching sound of my $2000 computer smacking onto my desk after just a couple minutes. I am still using the stand as long as I am staring directly at it and pushing it back up when it slides, but I feel like for such an expensive accessory I shouldn't have to worry about that.

I do think the weight of the product is great, it is sturdy, and the mechanism that adjusts the height is good. My back feels more comfortable now that the screen is at the right height. If I could get the computer to stop sliding I think I would love the product. But the sliding just cannot be forgiven, it's not worth buying if this problem happens.

    What did I pay for?

    • Written by from Sacramento

First of all, the box and packaging are super nice. In fact, unboxing made me question how much of the $70 price tag is in the packaging.

The stand itself: While it is pretty I don't think it will actually work for me. Total elevation comes to 6" measured from my desk to the bottom edge of my laptop screen on the stand. That isn't actually enough to put the screen at a proper ergonomic height for me while siting at my desk.

    Will likely return the stand.

    Fail

    • Written by from Arlington

I've had 2 work computers SLIDE OFF of this stand and LUCKILY fall in my chair vs. the floor. The rubberized area is NOT grippy enough. Ths happened with the computer was OPEN as well as being closed.

In addition, it's VERY unsturdy (wobbles).

I DO NOT recommend this product as a laptop stand.

    BEST stand! functional and gorgeous!

    • Written by from NEW YORK

this is a great stand for your macbook pro retina. i have owned it for about a year in my work office. i keep the mac open and closed, and it looks live its hovering over my desk. it opens up valuable real estate on my desk, and offers a space to slip items under the risen mac. never slips from the arms, as they have a secure rubber ribbed surface to keep it in place. i can open and close my mac, and it never wobbles. there are no unsightly "feet" holding it in place or anything to disturb the beauty and simplicity of the mac. i HIGHLY recommend it! MORE THAN FIVE STARS!

    Positive experience

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I don't usually write reviews, but I felt compelled to share my impression of this product because of all the negativity. I was initially very wary of purchasing because of the negative reviews, but after prolonged research for a laptop stand, this one was still the sleekest in design. I have no regrets buying this stand and have had absolutely no instances where my MBP has slid off of it. (Note: I own a 13" MBP.) I only hope people are removing their laptops before adjusting the height.

The materials are quality and the build is solid. I usually work with a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but have had no issues when typing on the MBP while it's on the stand. Only gripe is that I wish it could adjust a little higher.

Perfect for a MacBook Pro 13 (Retina)

    • Written by from Eden Prairie

I was unsure about this product based on all the negative reviews. But, since there was such polarizing reviews good and bad I figured I'd give it shot and make up my own mind. Glad I did, it works perfectly and as designed. The stand can be adjusted vertically based on your personal needs. I like the aluminum construction and Apple like design. The key to this product is to use it as a stand not as a docking station. Don't use or type on the MacBook when resting on the stand. The design keeps the bottom of the MacBook open and free for air movement to keep it cool. I would recommend this product if you use a second monitor, separate keyboard and mouse. Oh, the box the stand comes in is amazing too.

    Best design !

    • Written by from Henrico

There are lot of reviews which says it slips but I should say it does not. It fits perfectly and get the right grip for Macbook Pro. Cool design. The only thing I did not like is spring which is used for raising your Mac. I think spring quality is not that good but unless it lasts good it should not be a problem. I will recommend this product. Also the price is little high. Ideally its worth under $60.
Anyways anyone looking for minimal and cool design this is the product. I will give four and half star.

I purchased this product via apple online store. It promptly got delivered in a day's time. The aesthetics of the product is very impressive. Its sturdy and works like a charm. My macbook stays pretty safe without any slide. I am personally very much satisfied with this product and would highly recommend it.

    15" MBP Retina Slips Off!

    • Written by from Ogden

Pretty much the same as everyone else...I purchased this stand in Late 2013 for a 13" MacBook Pro Retina, which worked flawlessly! Then I upgraded to a 15" MacBook Pro Retina this past August and to my horror my MacBook was on my table (in front of my hi-rise Stand) the next morning. Over the next few days I watched (over the period of under an hour) that my MacBook slowly slides down the stand and I constantly had to re-adjust the laptop. Ultimately I just boxed the stand up and decided not to use it because I didn't want any damage to come of my new (and very expensive) macBook Pro.

I contacted Twelve South about the issue. They offered for me to return the stand (with me paying return shipping) for a replacement...all because I was still within the 1-year warranty. Had it been past a year I would have been SOL. Still debating on getting a replacement. It is an excellent stand when it works, however I cannot recommend it to any 15" macBook Pro user.

Total rip-off that should not be on the market!

    • Written by from New York

My 2010 15" MacBook Pro now slides off the stand every time that I forget to take it off the stand after using the computer. My experience is exactly the same as the large number of other users/reviewers reporting that the stand will not stably hold the laptop, and I am definitely using it correctly (laptop on the V, not the rectangle). It was stable for the first few weeks before I noticed a slight tendency to slide. Then one night it slid off the stand and pulled an external hard drive and some other stuff onto the floor with it, and it has never held the laptop stably since then. My guess is that this is a design flaw that escaped notice due to insufficient testing by the mechanically incompetent design team that produced it. The rubber on the V rapidly looses enough of its adhesiveness that it can no longer grip the laptop stably for more than a short period of time. I feel completely ripped off and would be eager to file a consumer complaint with the NY Attorney General's office if anyone else is in NY State and would like to join with me. Apple shouldn't be selling this dangerous, overpriced piece of junk, and the company should be sued.

Macbook slides off, isn't very stable

    • Written by from Anaheim

I bought this because I thought it was the best looking stand out there. After nearly a year I must say that I am extremely disappointed.

To clarify, I am not using this product wrong, upside down, or any thing else. My desk is level and stable (built into the house).

    The Piston Wobbles Too Much

It is very easy to lock this in a position where the macbook won't be level.

Your Macbook with SLIDE OFF and potential BREAK

I don't use my stand very often, but my laptop has already fallen off twice. Both time happened when I wasn't at my desk, so it wasn't like I was pounding or leaning on my desk. The only thing that saved my $$$ Macbook Pro was the thunderbolt cable I had plugged in and my chair.

I would never recommend this to anyone. Worst. Stand. Ever.

NOTE: TwelveSouth has nicely designed products, but this and the other product I have both don't live up to the quality I was expecting at this price. It's priced like a premium product but feels like it has a low build quality.

    Wobbly

    • Written by from Halifax

Wanted to try a new kind of stand for home after enjoying an mStand at work. Construction and materials seem solid but having the design of single column leads to a noticeable wobble. Even with the telescopic stand firmly screwed in it still didn't feel sturdy. Small thing, but for everyday use several times a day it's just irritating enough to make me look elsewhere.

    Don't Buy this Product

I have two Macbook Pro (2010 & 2013) and they both slipped off after a few minutes. This design would be better if there were two catch pieces in the front to prevent computers from falling off.
