    Belkin 30-Pin ChargeSync Cable

    • Written by from North york

I purchased this cable charger this past Christmas. This is one of the worse products I purchased. Right away I could tell the quality was poor. It lasted three days. The connection to my iPad, and iPhone was the same... I had to keep an eye on it as somehow it would not connect properly and wouldn't beep or anything to let me know that it was not longer charging. With any slight move, it would unconnected itself. On the third day, it would actually not connect, it appeared the cable was not the right part, completely loose and would fall off. I tried it on two iPads, and three iPhones... The results were the same.

What good is a cord that won't stay connected

    • Written by from Miami

I agree with those who say it is a waste of money. I don't need the constant stress of a poor cord connection.

Great on face value, but quit in just 3 months...

    • Written by from Princeton Junction

I bought this cable off of the Apple store App accessory list for charger cables and docks on Jan. 20th 2014, for $24.95. When I received it 3 days later I was delighted with the quality of the cable, and more so for the functional purpose for which I bought it in the 1st place. It served it's purpose perfectly and I was able to keep using my iPad to watch movies or surf the net in bed, while it was charging without having to resort to contortionist acts in an attempt to keep the wire connected to the charger at the same time. It is sturdy, well made, and looks kinda cool with the silver tip on each end of the (white is the one I bought) cable. All in all I was quite happy with the purchase and thought the $25 was well spent, or was it...?

I absolutely thought so that is, until this past 17th April, 2014. After a mere 3 months, the cable inexplicably quit working, and no amount of checking and re-checking, inserting and re-inserting it on both ends could coax it back to life again. So after such a promising start it fell flat on its face, or should I say mine, as I'm the one left with zilch to show for it.

I had higher expectations of a product that is listed in Apple's App Store Accessories category for chargers, cables and docks, as well as the fact that it is manufactured by Belkin, a fairly well known company when it comes to tech accessories and hardware. I'm unfortunately compelled to say that I'm really sorely disappointed in both of these companies for having such an inferior product representing them. It really was a wasted $25, that I should have spent on another 2 or 3 cables that perhaps may have not lasted longer, but surely would have given me more use cumulatively had I bought them instead, and I wouldn't feel so duped! If I could rate it with a negative star rating, believe me, I would give it -ve 5 stars!!!

    Great Quality & Durable

    • Written by from Smyrna

At first I tried to attach it and was disappointed that he didn't fit. I was going to return it when I read that it fits my device. The first time I attached it is very tight and it fits fine now for the iPhones, and iPads. This cable is very strong, durable and the connection is snug. Don't spend money on cheap connectors. Your device deserves the best and that is from Apple. I am very happy with this connector and will buy a second one because my family keeps taking mine. I purchased in Dec 2013.

    Stopped working

    • Written by from Anchorage

Started off ok, but now after some months of use, it won't stay in the iPad, and has major problems in iTunes trying to back up or transfer. It gets to about 30% backup and just stops, charging is ok but i have to be very gentle as if the 30 pin moves it stops charging and a great deal of fiddling is required to coax it back to charge.
i tried backing up by holding the 30 pin in tight but to no avail either, i have to use the original short cable....

    Belkin 6ft Cable

    • Written by from Clayton

I bought one of these from my local Apple store, because they didn't have one that was long, made by Apple. It was stiff and not pliable like the short cable that came with my iPad and it did not connect as easily. Had it lest than a year before it stopped working. I still need a 6ft cable, but won't buy another one of these. I must say this is the first Belkin product that has ever let me down. Come on Apple people need different size cables!

    doesn't stay connected

    • Written by from NEW YORK

I have an iPhone 4S and this cable is useless. As others have pointed out it is the length that Apple's cable SHOULD be -- but unfortunately doesn't stay connected to the phone enough to charge. It doesn't fall off, it just looks connected but isn't really (and therefore not charging). It can start out connected, but then the slightest jiggle of the phone will cause it to stop charging. So you can't really use your phone while it's charging.

Don't waste your money unless you KNOW it works with your device. I've only tried it with an iPhone 4S.

    Stop working after 2 months

    • Written by from Gatineau

Right out of the box the cable I received didn't function properly. My iPhone 4S would disconnect and reconnect sporadically, despite the cable being properly secured into place. After a few hours and several attempts it finally began working properly and for the most part worked fine, only disconnecting on rare occasions. I didn't return it because I figured it worked well enough. Last week it simply ceased functioning altogether after a mere 2 months of use. I don't know if I just got a lemon, but I would definitely not recommend this cable to anyone. Another thing I disliked was the fact that the 30-Pin connector doesn't snap into place like the standard Apple cable does. The only redeeming qualities I found were the durability of the plastic, which was much better than that of the standard Apple cable, as well as the generous length which often came in handy. Bottom line from my experience: not worth the expense.

    Very disappointed

Product doesn't work. I have only had it for three weeks. Never charged ipad fully. I hope Apple stops carrying this item. I now await a return correspondence from Belkin.

    When it works...

    • Written by from Boston

it is just what I needed.

However, it rarely works after 3 months. The connector is cheap and/or the quality control at Belkin is poor. A loose connector is frustrating:

Not Charging despite the charge symbol being on at the same time.
The battery draining while it's plugged in.
It now falls out without being moved.
    And there's no warranty.

    Not great at all

    • Written by from brooklyn

Te extra length in cord was a good idea, however it does not stay connected to the IPAD very well. It easily disconnects with any motion, and it takes a really long time to charge. Not worth the price

    This is a must get!

    • Written by from Lexington

I have tried many other extended cable connectors. None holds up to this. I've usually had a hard time finding a proper functioning cable, mostly knock off . This is a must for all 30 pin connected devices.

this charger device is much better than the chargers apple supply... one main reason, the wire doesn't tear when it's very flexible.

I thought buying a charger/data sync cable directly from the Apple store would be of high quality, just as Apple holds to its own standards of products made by them.

A longer charge/data sync cable is something many consumers need. Apple has yet to produce such a product and I doubt they ever will since they haven't to date. Thus, this leaves consumers with a hole in the market ecosystem in which we must seek out a third party product.

Enter Belkin, backed and sold at Apple retail stores. The cord appears to be of good quality, perhaps even sturdier than Apple's own cords. The flaw in the design is that the cord is unable to securely stay connected to the 30-pin device. A little movement and the cord has already discharged its power supply and is either half way or all the way out of the device. This proves frustrating to constantly keep pushing it in.

Also, of note, I had a problem with the USB staying connected to an Apple wall adapter. This happened only one time. The connection was "loose" even though it wasn't. I unplugged the wall adapter and the cord and reconnected everything. It hasn't happened again. (This was two weeks ago.)

I've had this charger six weeks.

This cable is of better quality and is actually thicker than what came with my ipad2. It snaps in snugly, just like the original, but with an actual length of 6' 6". This is the cable that should be shipped with iPads from the factory. Buy with confidence.
