Faulty and no response from Netatmo Customer Service

Loved this when I first had it but, the outdoor module has now failed, despite replacing batteries, which it seems to eat. I would appreciate a response from Netatmo Customer Service but, sadly, there is none!! Do NOT buy as there is absolutely no after sales service!!!!

Solid integration of hardware and app

I bought my first Netatmo station over a year ago. She nice then, it has worked flawlessly. The hardware is unobtrusive and is easy to fit almost anywhere. I really like the app (especially the recent overhaul). The app is attractive, easy to use, and tells me everything I need to know.
I have since bought an additional indoor module and a rain gauge. Excellent additions. I did however have a problem getting the rain gauge to work. Ended up spending 20-minutes dealing with support before I could get it to work. Some sort of setup bug (I got half way through setup, and then it just hung, restarted and it hung again, so I called support). In any case, the rain gauge has worked flawlessly since and I'm happy with it.

I just purchased a second Netatmo station for our Whistler vacation home. Nice to be able to keep tabs on indoor and outdoor temps. Also, since we rent our place via Airbnb, the sound meter has turned out to be helpful in recording noise levels.

    Great product. Great app.

Love the app, absolutely loathe the lack of consistency in customer service

We bought this from our local Apple Store, and at first it was fun, but not essential. Over time, though we began to rely on it to keep us informed about conditions at home. Recently Netatmo has added additional hardware in the form of rain gauges (not useful in drought-beset California) and most recently a video module that seemed interesting.

If I were writing this review a year ago it would have been four stars (minus a star for its cost v functionality). Our Netatmo weather stations, including our additional indoor unit which we labeled “upstairs” because that’s where we needed it, worked fine. Both the additional “upstairs” indoor unit and the outdoor unit work perfectly, allowing us to monitor our home and adjust to outdoor conditions.

However, quite some time ago our main indoor unit became unable to show correct info for the room it is in (we had labeled it “downstairs” because that’s where it was). The downstairs unit showed an approximately 17 degree F higher temperature than our average 70 degree F downstairs temperature, for example.

Our downstairs temperatures did fluctuate down overnight and, if I’m remembering correctly (it began to malfunction long ago), the temperature degrees difference was a different range, not as easy as just subtracting 17 degrees. We have a very inexpensive non-Netatmo indoor/outdoor non-wireless unit from Taylor, which, compared to all three Netatmo devices, when the main module was working, were almost identical measuring down to fractions of a degree in temperature-reading performance (when all placed together on the same shelf in our downstairs living room, for example).

When the “downstairs” unit stopped working (at least the temperature part of its functionality) I sent a message to Netatmo, but did not hear back. I sent more emails, still no response. I tried in vain to find a phone number for Netatmo. Over time I left many messages at Netatmo's customer service online contact, but we received no reply, even though we did continue to get sales emails about new products.

I’ve looked online to find reviews of Netatmo’s customers, and it seems we are not the only customers having the same problems with both the hardware and customer service. Some customers seem to have exactly the same 17 degree temperature difference in the main module.

Finally, early this summer we did hear from Netatmo, and they "recalibrated" our main downstairs unit. Wished it could have happened long ago.

But, about ten days later, the downstairs unit failed again. Again, more emails and no response. Finally a response and this time they say sorry, “unfortunately, we are not able to do more, and I'm sorry to tell your that your station is now out of warranty.”

Yes, NOW it is out of warranty indeed, but the failure was long ago when it was in warranty and we are now out of warranty because Netatmo’s customer service seemed to NOT EXIST until early this summer, 2015. So, zero stars, if possible, on what could have been a better than useful four stars.

    Do not buy this product.

The outdoor module working first 3 month and after that, every two new AAA battery only run the outdoor module around 1 - 2 weeks.
In a year the outdoor module finished lots of AAA battery.
After contact Netatmo, They just ask me to buy another outdoor module. no help there.
I test the outdoor module, there is 5mA background current keep eating the battery.
Do not buy this product. It has design problem.

It was fine until it just died

I bought it in italy and took it to china. everything worked fine for 3 months, then after a firmware update the company pushed, the outdoor stop working, contacted the support, and after 2 tests (they reply every 2 weeks), didn't even bother to make me send back the unit, instead told me to trash and buy a new one... just wow! Stay away from such companies with basically no support at all.

    Great little weather station

I bought the Netatmo after seeing it on a diy show. Seemed accurate when compared with local weather and other measures. Found the CO2 runs high in my office so it has made me more aware of improved circulation. Bought the rain gage last year and it does a pretty darned good job. My one complaint is there is no mounting apparatus so I leave it setting on my pool deck. Would be nice to have a mounting bracket to attach it more permanently to the side of the house etc. Overall, have had it 2 years and very pleased.

    Terrible Customer Support

After appox. 1 year, the indoor unit is reporting temp 17 degrees F too warm. There is no helpful info on their website and two emails to 'customer support' have not been answered although I still do get emails from their sales dept. regarding new products.

    Would not recommend.

    Works Great!

I am greatly enjoying all the stats this weather station and app provide. It is very accurate and I found it very easy to setup and install. I will be purchasing more units for different areas in the house.
Great weather station and a lot of fun to use.

    Software good, hardware not so

The outdoor module needs to be really close to the indoor module. My outdoor module is on the other side of the wall and maybe 6 feet down and it can't pick up the signal! Ridiculous!

I would rate it less that 1 star if I could - does not work at all

So I paid a fairly serious $179 for this piece of garbage and it flat out doesn't do anything at all !!
What a brick! I download the mobile app for it and plug in the "weather station" and the frigging thing attempts to go through "set up" only to respond "Sorry, we lost the connection to the Weather Station. This installation will restart."
And that's it !! That is exactly what this product does - report an error condition and stop. Wow! THAT was a good use of $179.

    Initial impressions are good, but....

So I generally have faith in the accuracy of the readings with the exception of the humidity sensors, both indoor and out.
I am a pilot and so check cross check with numerous sources and the temps and pressures appear accurate.
The design of both the hardware and software is good. I am a bit concerned about reports that the outdoor unit may
Not be entirely good if exposed to moisture.

Our condo in Florida suffered a serious mold problem and had we had this unit it may have prevented some serious damage with the
Alerts it is capable of sending.

My MAIN concern is if the manufacturer goes belly up, all the sensor read outs require that it be first forwarded to a central server before
Being made available for display. I have bought a fancy Sleep analyzer and the company is out of business and now I am left with a $300
Alarm clock. This is a rather expensive product so if they should go out of business then you are out of luck.

BUT, otherwise I am happy with the product.

    Doesn't work as expected

I live in Southern Ontario, and this year the winter has been nasty, both with snowfall and temp (-20 average). The outdoor unit has a range of only 15" when the temp drops this cold. The indoor unit accurately reads the indoor air temp and noise level. However, the indoor air quality measured by Co2 didn't work. Netatmo customer support was amazing! They helped me each day, but we couldn't get it to work. They requested that i return the unit which i did.
Given the short distance and limitations created by the outdoor weather in Canada, and that the indoor Co2 wouldn't read properly, I would not recommend this product.
The app and interface are amazing.
The customer support is also amazing.

    Outdoor humidity sensor useless

This gives the impression of a very good, high quality product, the software/apps is very well designed, and most of the sensors seems to work fine.
However, the outdoor humidity sensor has shown 100% ever since it was installed, and checking the Netatmo forums, this is obviously a general problem that affects hundreds of customers; either that it locks to 100% or is 15-20% off. Recommend NOT to buy until the issue is resolved!

Savvy & user friendly interface - Good hardware

Shipping was fast, set-up was easy and straight forward.

I had some concerns regarding correlation and accuracy with the units for temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure. I emailed Netatmo from their website and was advised the units needs to "stabilize" and purge manufacturing and packaging gases etc and to wait about a week. I collocated the two units with my calibrated standards and waited. After a week the measurements were more stable but still needed some calibration. Emailing the requested data directly with Netatmo's very responsive customer service technician resulted in what appears to be accurate and responsive devices.

The web and iPhone and iPad apps all work as advertised. I am very pleased. Very slick system. I am looking forward to continued evolution of the apps and a durable and useful weather stations.

    Great product

The products look great, was easy to setup, and I'm looking forward to adding a few more stations. The iOS apps work well and the web site for analyzing the data looks great in Safari. I've wanted to monitor the temperature in my attic for years, especially to see if the attic fan up there actually has an impact on temperature. Now I will know.

    Awesome product

Great little weather station. Keeping up with CO2 in a basement office can be very beneficial to long work hours. You can see the CO2 rise almost immediately after lighting a candle and such. 4-star because of poor packing. Batteries were not contained within the plastic bag (very large cut through bag) and had them rattling all over. Otherwise would've been a 5. Just appears to be a poor attention to that detail, where as all other details are stellar!

My favourite gadget in the last year!

I am a bit of a weather nerd so I was very interested in this when it came out.

It is a rock solid product. Works perfectly. I check it multiple times a day.

    Two big thumbs up!

    Fully Functional, Excellently Engineered

I'm very happy with this little gadget, as well as the app that goes along with it.

The only problem I've had in the three months of owning it was during set-up: I tried setting up the stations through the iOS app, but continuously received an error. I ended up using my iMac, without incident, and haven't had to mess with it since.

Give the NetAtmo app a try if you're not sure about getting one -- there's an option to browse/view an outdoor module close to your location.
