Should be banned from Apple store!

    • Written by from Houston

Cant sync, cant connect to wifi. design is great, idea is great, but an engineering fail. in today's world, you rarely see a device that cannot sync on wifi. everyday you connect it back manually or do factory reset. too much stress for weighing yourself. and at 150$ it is just ridiculous.

Apple should take this out of the store because it definitely does not have the quality standards apple has.

    Don't buy this 'smart' scale

    • Written by from WEST VALLEY CITY

I am so disappointed in this product it is hard to know where to begin. It fails in most every respect. It doesn't upload as described- it may or may not with little reason as to why. It is inaccurate as a scale with no way to 'zero' or adjust it. It is not even reliable in being 'off'. Sometimes it is 30# under what my doctor's office says, sometimes 20#. Another thing, the body fat percentage is all over the place too. I am giving it one star only because it is a good idea, as it is it is wholey worthless because the data is meaningless.

    Don't buy it……

    • Written by from bollate

…… in case it fails, it could not be repaired!!!
I did not expect to buy a throw-away valuable item: the only option Withings were able to offer was a 25% price reduction on a brand new item
This is somethings we should know before buying

    Total RIP OFF

    • Written by from San Francisco

Worked ok at the start. Then lost connection to wifi. Took over an hour to re-pair it with the phone. Never got it back on the network. $100 paperweight. Save your money and buy something from a more reputable company. Their support is terrible and they don't stand by their products. They will be out of business in a couple of years.

Nice theoretically, but it doesn't work.

    • Written by from London

I purchased this scale because it would sync with my phone, but it doesn't. Setting it up is a pain, not because it's difficult, but because it took me 3 times to make it work. Then it doesn't sync via wifi. Nothing. I don't know why. I could use bluetooth but it's a real fuss to have to turn it around every time to press that button and go through the procedure. Withings: can't you just make something that works?

    totally unreliable product

    • Written by from Epsom

The Withings scale is an expensive weighing scale no doubt and for the money you would expect it to work properly. I have owned it for 2 years and in all that time, despite multiple firmware upgrades, it never properly worked. More often than not it won't sync it's data, which completely negates it reason d'etre of being a connected scales where the data is stored and available for the future. The worst thing is that it doesn't actually indicate in any way that it hasn't synced, so unless you go to your computer and log in to the Withings website after each weigh-in, you'll be none the wiser. It's Wednesday now and despite weighing myself every day, I have discovered today that the last day the scale properly synced it's data was Sunday. This is a very regular occurrence. It will miss days now and again (maybe 2 in 3) and then just stop syncing altogether until I go through the rigmarole of taking out a battery and then going through the whole setup procedure again.

The heart rate functionality is utter junk. It doesn't work at all and seems to be there as a feature tick to tempt buyers. I have a heart rate monitor and can say definitively that the numbers presented on the scale might as well be random numbers (and probably are).

All in all, I would say that if you want a connected scale, that works reliably then stay away from this one. Don't let the additional junky features such a CO2 monitoring or heart rate monitoring sway you.

    Poor Connection

    • Written by from Boston

The only reason to buy this overpriced scale is for it's purported interactive features with smartphones. But this feature only works the first time you connect your device to it. Once you leave it's range of detection, which only take a few feet away, it will forever be unable to detect your device again and become reduced to a fancy looking digital scale that only calculates weight, nothing more.

    Expensive Rubbish

    • Written by from campbell

The main reason to purchase this scale is to use the interactive feature with the scale . But this feature works the first time you set it up then the scale no longer connects to your devices the moment you leave the area . Ive tested on two Iphone 6's and Iphone 5 , two samunsg tablets , and android phone and a Lenovo tablet and the result is the same I consider my self to be pretty tech savvy , Ive built my own data center, off grid data center, software controlled house but Ive never seen a product so frustrating . After spending hours tinkering with this device im ready to toss it on the garbage heap its only useful as readout scale if the phone/Tablet connectivity does now work .
The Bluetooth connectivity works and locates the scale and this then starts the Withing application ; However the application itself is unable to find the scale and the app/scale connectivity is rendered useable.
The other alternative is to use WIFI. The setup process works and does say the scale is connected to the, but when you use the scale the results appear on the scale hours later - if at all. Most times no results are sent to the application which basically renders this scale and an expensive weigh scale. I could have picked one up for twenty bucks and been happier.
My recommendation is stay away from this device until Withing's decide to address the Bluetooth /WiFi connectivity issues

    Never auto connects.

    • Written by from Pittsburgh

Experience has been same as reviewers above. The scale never auto-connects via bluetooth. Each time if I want to sync a measurement with my iPhone, the scale must be turned over and the re-connect procedures started. Makes it useless as a "wireless" scale. I returned this device.

    Useless Device

    • Written by from Worcester

This scale will weigh you, but the connection to the app is broken each time you walk out of the room and requires a repairing as if it were new each time. Essentially this means every day you must turn the scale over, hold down the pairing button, go to the app and re establish the connection. It would be far easier to just manually log in the data to an app. Expensive manual scale is really all it is. The "weather " shows rain on the scale screen if it is raining or snowing. Looking out the window takes less time. The heart rate takes forever and fails 50% of the time. It is really a terrible product and I am surprised that Apple would sell it in their stores.

    Pairing issues

    • Written by from Dollard-des-Ormeaux

I've owned this scale for a little over a year. I've had consistent issues with pairing the device to Bluetooth but always eventually figured it out after numerous attempts. However, with my latest issue I was unable to find a blue tooth connection with any of my 4 apple devices. tech support is a joke, no phone, only emails, they proposed a factory reset which didn't solve the issue. Buyer beware!

    Withings Smart Scale

    • Written by from Long Beach

Decided to take the scale back based on one simple criteria: the scale requires an account with Withings, the scale's parent company. I expected the scale to pair with my device and communicate directly with Apple's iOS8 Health Kit app right out of the box. Instead, I'm required to download a 3rd party app. Installing the app solely to configure scale would be perfectly acceptable but this company [Withings] thinks it's acceptable to force their customers to sign up with their services just to use their device. Bottom line; I'll just get a stand alone scale and enter the data manually. I don't need a company like Withings potentially harvesting my data, a disgusting business practice. Quite frankly, I'm surprised Apple endorses this product.

    Dreadful product... Doesn't work

    • Written by from monmouth

This costs a lot of money. It doesn't work. The weight readings vary by up to 5kg every time I step on (even if that's a couple of minutes after the last time). Half the time, the fat monitor function fails to work at all. It's supposed to recognise me, but hardly ever does. How hard is it to test a product before putting onto the market, to make sure it actually works?

    Poor performing product

    • Written by from Los Angeles

This scale is supposed to seaminglessly integrate into iOS, however it performs very poorly with respect to wireless integration. The Bluetooth connection constantly dies and needs to be frequently restarted in order to communicate with my iPhone and transmit data. We have come to expect superior performance from products sold in Apple stores, and this scale falls far, far short. After struggling with the scale for two weeks, we decided to return it.

    Inaccurate scale with terrible connectivity.

    • Written by from Seattle

I'm considering throwing this out with the trash. Not only does the Bluetooth connection fail after uploading data requiring reconnection when you need to upload a new reading, but the scale is wholly inaccurate.

I can live with bad connectivity but not an inaccurate weighing scale.

Last night I went to bed weighing 202.1, this morning I weighed 202.7. Either I was eating sandwiches in my sleep or this product is broken.

    Total waste of money.

    Complete waste of money.

    • Written by from Essen

The setup took me almost two days to succeed, the bluetooth connection gets lost some time and the scale puts itself into setup mode all the time. Ah, and not to forget: The sync between the app and the scale constantly fails (tried it with 3 different iOS devices and 1 Android device, by the way).
Withings shows how to make a miserable product from a great idea.
Not worth the money (or even ANY money). :(

Avoid This Product At All Costs

    • Written by from Isle of Palms

This is a bad product, and Apple should stop carrying it. I have purchased three, the most recent being a purchase I made when I saw that Apple stores were stocking the scale, which I took to be a sign that the prior problems have been solved. Be aware. They haven't. The app is very buggy, the scale keeps falling off Bluetooth, and all in all, the scale is a very poor product. Someone should be able to make a good scale that integrates with the iPhone. Plainly Withings can't or wont.

Worst purchase of all time! ------------ STAY AWAY FROM WITHINGS!!

    • Written by from Hong Kong

From time to time, the withings scales will stop upload data for no reason.

The withings scales keep losing its setting, you'll be forced to re-do the setup regularly.

The weight measurement contain a 4~5 lbs error, depend on how far apart your feet were on the scale.

The heart rate measurement simply not accurate.

The withings app is worst app I ever used.

If you're looking for a smart scales, STAY AWAY FROM WITHINGS!!!
