    Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio

    • Written by from West Vancouver

When I had originally bought my iPad mini for school, I just had a smart cover covering the screen, and my iPad got scratch. I was quite sad to see the underside of the slate material, so when I got my new iPad mini 3, I decided to buy this keyboard folio. It has very little learning curve, so i was able to adapt to the size and placement of the keys. I bought the red one, and it has picked up quite a bit of dirt. When the Bluetooth signal wasn't working, the support team over at Logitech was very quick and helpful, and I was able to get a replacement. Overall, this is the perfect laptop substitution for writing documents on Pages at school!

    Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio breaks

    • Written by from San Jose

I bought the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio 9 months ago for my ipad. The clip that holds the ipad in place breaks easily with normal use, so I've been really careful with it. I mostly leave the ipad in the folio, and rarely take it out. Logitech replaces the product, but I am now on my third replacement. Some of the keys don't function (tab key is one). Two stars because at least replacement is relatively easy, but for the price buy something else.

    Great functionality but breaks easily

    • Written by from Los Angeles

I really enjoyed working with this keyboard. Using the Ultrathin Keyboard Folio with the latest iPad equipped with the full suite of Office software enabled the device to become a defacto alternative for my laptop, particularly in business meetings. Unfortunately, the fragility of the plastic clip which held the iPad in place limits the utility of the keyboard. This design and materials flaw, which apparently is quite common, renders this product unworthy of its high cost. Until such time as Logitech improves the clip, do not waste $100 on this keyboard.

    Great Functionality and Design

Typing this review on the very product i am revieiwing!

I've used this product for about 2 weeks now and think it is great. I use it mainly to do emails at lunch. The keyboard is small so it takes time to get used to. But this is to be expected.

The bluetooth always pairs correctly and quickly. The battery seems good as I rarely charge it. The magnet used to keep the screen in place is strong and sturdy.

I have found that i can fold a piece of paper and put it between the cover and the back of the ipad as well as fit a pen on the edge between the cover's top and bottom when closed. The magnet is strong enough to keep the pen in place.

The cover obstructs the volume buttons a little but no some much that they loose their accessibility. The weave on the case and texture is nice.

I really like this product as it makes me more effecient. My Ipad mini is now essentialy a super protable computer. My friends think it is cool as S### when i show it off.

    Poor usability

    • Written by from Southbank

As a previous owner and heavy user of the version for the normal-sized iPad (which is excellent), I bought this one for my new iPad mini.

To solve the challenge of the smaller footprint, Logitech chose to get rid of the Tab key! You have to press "function + Q" to get this to work, and they made it so you have to use your left hand for both keys.. hence typing is slowed down considerably when you need to tab (which is more than you may think), as you have to physically move your hand from the home position to simultaneously press those keys.

The other problem is the tilt on the iPad is pretty close to perpendicular so if you want to view the screen you almost need to put a wedge under the keyboard to get the screen a the right angle.

I do not recommend this product until they fix these two problems. If they did, the remaining features of the product would be closer to 4 stars.

    Do Not Buy

The clips that hold it the iPad broke within the first two weeks of using, Apple replaced it after much resistance, and then the one they replaced it with broke again within the first month. Save your money and wait for a better design to come out. Such a waste

    don't buy this product!

    • Written by from Manning

purchased this case a couple of months ago, and within a month the plastic grip that holds the i pad in place broke. We took it back to the store and they reluctantly agreed to replace it, saying the warranty was already out. Within a month, the new case broke in the same place. This case is poorly constructed, defintely not worth the $100 we paid for it.

    NOT RECOMMENDED

I BOUGHT MY CASE AND AT THE BEGINNING THE I PAD STAYED IN PLACE. BUT LATER IT FELL FROM TO THE GROUND. I AM LUCKY THAT IT DID NOT BRAKE. THE RIGHT SIDE THAT HOLD IT, BROKE AND ALSO THE PLASTIC PART TO TURN ON AND OFF. DO NOT BUY IT'S RISK TO BRAKE YOUR IPAD.

    Plastic keeps breaking

    • Written by from Camas

I've now replaced this model twice for the same reason; the plastic that holds the iPad in place near the iPad's power switch breaks off. I notice that every time I've gotten a replacement (which is always the newest model), the plastic keeps getting thicker. So Logitech IS improving its design by making its product sturdier and obviously other people are experiencing the same issue. Other than its weak plastic, the case and keyboard are handy and sturdily built. I've had no problems with the keyboard malfunctioning or the magnet that holds the iPad up. It would be nice if someday the keyboard lit up so I could type in the dark.

    Flimsy Design

    • Written by from Matthews

This keyboard has many positives as it is simple to connect via bluetooth and has keys that feel like a normal keyboard. Unfortunately, the clips that hold the iPad in place break easily. I accidentally dropped the first keyboard and blamed myself when the clips broke. The replacement keyboard I purchased seemed to have improved clips but the left clip broke with only two months (daily) use without being dropped. If the company improves this flaw, I would rate the product highly but until then can only rate it as one star.

    Nice case but

    • Written by from FRANKLIN PARK

Like using this case/keyboard with my mini but I've had one annoyance that you may not be aware of and should be. If you want to use your mini and fold the case back behind your mini it can sense the magnets and shut off. It took me a little while to figure this out. But after actually testing this. Yep it does turn off. Not sure if there is a way to stop it either. It has nothing to do with the keyboard being turned on or not. So if you use a lot of apps that don't need the keyboard you should consider this before buying.

    Great cover and keyboard combo.

    • Written by from Grover Beach

I love this product. It holds my iPad securely. I can get to the charging port easily even when the cover is on. The magnetic strip to hold the keyboard in place is awesome. Love the Red color. The only thing I am not sure about is the little leather piece on the side. I don't know if it is meant as a tab or if it is intended to hold a stylus.

PS I have the IPad Air so mine is larger.

    Outstanding Overall Product!

    • Written by from Clarksville

When I initially picked up my iPad mini, I wanted to go the minimalist route, and just purchased a regular magnetic thin top cover. It didn't take long to realize that not only did that cover not do the greatest job of protecting a rather expensive and relatively fragile device, but it also did not significantly add to one's grip on a sleek (and slick) frame.

While looking into cover options I began to discover all the things my iPad could accomplish, with the added productivity of Pages, Numbers and Adobe Acrobat, and so I decided to go for a protective keyboard cover. This cover really adds to the overall usefulness and security of the iPad mini. As mentioned before, it turns a device otherwise best suited to browsing, listening, and watching, into a productive unit, compared to which my full sized laptop can only best it in a few areas, but with the added weight, heat, and general cumbersomeness of a standard laptop.

The cover is both padded and protective, as well as gives you a great grip on the device. The only complaints I have (and they are mild) are 1) that the mute/screen lock button is difficult to access with the way that the curvature of the lid partially obscures it, and 2) as far as I can tell, there is no way to gauge what remains of the keyboard's battery life, either via the keyboard itself or through your iPad interface, only a blue light for connectivity and a green light to show sufficient charge. Other than those two small issues, it's really a fantastic accessory!

    Filthy Cover

    • Written by from North Hills

I love everything about this keyboard case, but the red picks up prints and dirt and does not come clean, despite everything we've tried. Hoping my local Apple will exchange it for a black one. I have searched everywhere for cleaning instructions, but as yet have found nothing. I've had it for three weeks and I'm embarrassed to carry it--and I've been careful! Also, there is only a two-week window to return it, so be aware. If I could post a photo here I would. It's a shame; lovely product otherwise.

    Sturdy, attractive, love the red!

    • Written by from SLINGERLANDS

It really protects the ipad. It fits snugly into 2 rubber corners in the case, and stands up into reading position in landscape with a magnet holding the bottom of the iPad. Hard to explain, but it works!

With my big hands, the keyboard is small and takes some getting used to. Much better than hunting and pecking on the on screen keyboard, though! Over time you will acclimate to the smaller keyboard.

Pricey, but well made and very functional!

All I can say is WOW! This product is a must for anyone who uses an iPad Mini. It turns it into a computer just whoosh, like that! Once I got used to the size of the keyboard I find I use it almost as much as I do my laptop. I especially like how you can use the keyboard and also tap the screen. Neat! How did I ever get along without this? I LOVE IT!

    excellent mini keyboard

Please address the bug where the keyboard ceases to work during public-access wifi "popup" prompts, for example, when a wifi terminal asks you to enter your hotel room-number. In these cases I have had to turn the keyboard off, type the information with the virtual keyboard.
Other than that it's great. I previously used the Logitech keyboard cover. I recommend this one over that. This protects ALL sides of the iPad, weighs less, and is still sturdy.
