    Rock Solid

    • Written by from Biddeford

I use this keyboard every day at work and I beat the heck out of it, banging the keys as I type. It really does hold up well and it types very smoothly. I've used the Apple wireless keyboard and I actually prefer this one. It just feels more sturdy to me. And, it has 2 USB ports. I strongly recommend this keyboard!

Apple has created here the gold standard of keyboards

    • Written by from Montreal

I have been using computers and keyboards since the 80's as a kid. In all my years I have never encountered a more comfortable, stylist, efficient and cleanly designed keyboard.
I can type for hours and even days with no stress or fatigue, and I love the response of each keystroke.
I simply cannot go back to any other keyboard model or make, and believe me I have tried.
Apple has created here the gold standard of keyboards, and something tells me they will outdo themselves again.

    Great Keyboard

    • Written by from LONG BEACH

I had to write a review to let anybody who is hesitant to purchase this product because of bad reviews know that it is fantastic. I seriously do not know why Apple insists on shipping keyboards without number pads with all of their Mac products. It makes no sense. So this keyboard is the answer for anybody who relies on that little group of numbers to the right of the letters like me. I also love the fact that it has two USB ports. It makes plugging in flash drives much easier (as opposed to reaching behind an iMac). The fact that it is not wireless is slightly annoying but it comes with a handy dandy USB extender which allows the keyboard to be placed well away from the computer if needed. Great job Apple!

Goes the distance, durable, still going strong after 7 years

    • Written by from San Jose

I got mine when I bought my first Mac in 2008. It's been solid ever since. It's been used with an iMac and 3 Macbook Pro's. In the last 7 years, it's survived grad school, 2 kids pounding on it, my wife's photo editing with Aperture, and my video editing with Final Cut Pro. The numeric pad is a great convenience and it's a solid keyboard.

I'm happily buying a new one.

    • Written by from SEATTLE

I bought this in 2008. I prefer the cable, because I find batteries disagreeable, and Apple stopped selling a wireless keyboard with the keys that are on this one (full size arrow keys, numeric keypad, &c.). After 7 years of brutal use, the plastic sleeve of the cable just as it exits the keyboard failed and at least one conductor inside it failed, so it no longer connects. It has been dropped more times than I could count, has dents, and still lasted for 7 years.
I always used mine with a keyboard protector cover, so no fluids, whether from beverages or cleaning products ever entered it. I like this keyboard better than any other one I have ever used, and I first used a keyboard when it was on a typewriter, in 1965.

Going on 8 years of use

I've been using this keyboard since '07 without any reliability issues. A selection of keys are discoloured, and I do remember having some trouble activating certain USB drives, but my Sony Microvault works well with this keyboard.

    I recommend this keyboard!

    superb device

    • Written by from exeter

So you may see some bad reviews, well i think folk are more likely to do a review when angry than if sat happily playing with new device.

Some say 2 usb ports are only suited for low power use, obvious or what its NOT a POWERED usb hub so it Should only be used with low power usb extras - and what other keyboard even offers this feature eh?

So 2 years and 1 month later i have 2 of these both looking brand new and both in daily use for about 10 hours per go. perfect and reliable.

The weight is spot on, rel heavy so dont slip about, i have to have the numerical keypad so the wired keyboard was a must and i hide my wire so well you wouldnt know the benefit of a wireless one here.

The clck of keys is natural and easy yet also satisfying which is odd that apple acheived both factors in one hit!

I dont want a backlit one as i think that is the preserve of gaming devices so all in all its 10 outa 10 from me.

    Buy one, or two !

    BEST Keyboard Out There!

    • Written by from Binbrook

When this keyboard was released I thought it looked a little funny. I tried it out and instantly loved it. I do not use any other keyboard. This has the best chiclet keys out there. The wired version is a must for music/video production, as the keypad is crucial for key commands. I routinely take this on the go - It's lightweight and durable. Great job Apple!

I LOVE this keyboard. I work at a desk, so wireless keyboards are useless for me. After working on a PC for many years, I really missed the numeric keypad. I am a happy man! But wait! There's more! 2 USB ports... so I don't have to reach around the back of the box to find a port... AND... they are carefully hidden! Great purchase!

    My new favorite keyboard

    • Written by from Houston

I'm a new convert to Mac from the PC world, and I use a Macbook Air at home (unfortunately, I still have to use PCs at work). I picked up this keyboard at a local Apple store a few days ago, and I like it better than any keyboard I've ever used - which is significant, because I've been working with computers of various types since the 1970s and I've probably used just about every keyboard invented at one time or another.

For typing, a keyboard is all about the feel. Some people like an audible click, others prefer quiet keys, some are ok with soft, no-feedback keys, while others need to feel a click, and so on. Because keyboards are such personal things reviews may be of limited value, but I'll do my best.

I like this keyboard's metal construction, mainly because it gives it weight. It stays put, which is a problem for me with lighter keyboards. It's compact, in spite of the complete key complement. I like the flat keys, although other reviewers disagree with me. Someone said that it's impossible to be sure that your fingers are centered on the keys because everyone knows keys should have concave surfaces. Maybe it's just because I've been typing so long, but that's a complete non-issue for me. I like the slight key travel, and I appreciate that in spite of it, the tactile click from these keys is perfect, in my opinion.

Several reviewers have commented that these keyboards fail quickly, and obviously I don't have enough time with this one to comment on that - but if it fails in the near future I'll revise this review.

A beautiful piece of kit SOMETHING ONE CAN ADMIRE when not in use

    • Written by from llandudno

We all know Apple design products that are user friendly and a thing of beauty, but their Numeric Keyboard can be placed on anyones desk and simply admired for its aesthetic charms and over all design.

I ordred mine when initially configuring my iMac online so that i could have the computer just the way i wanted it.
I had the choice of either the standard wireless Bluetooth keyboard or the Numeric keyboard, i am very pleased i went with the larger Numeric version..

I now own both and for some reason the keys on the Numeric version feel softer to the touch and more responsive, there's not much in it but the extra facilities on the Numeric version as well as its extra width on my desk make it more visually appealing.

Place it on the desk of someone who is unused to an over engineered computer work tool and they will simply admire it.

Those who have never seen a Apple product in the flesh so to speak will pick it up and admire it's construction, beautifully turned aluminium alloy and ever so lite keys that never punish the fingers over extended use.

For me having a wired keyboard gives me the added security that i will not loose the signal like the Bluetooth alternative, but its only when you place both keyboards side by side, the Numeric pad looks more attractive but how does one separate an Apple product by looks alone.

The length, extra keys and more gorgeous aluminium alloy for your money makes it my firm favourite.

What other computer keyboard is as aesthetically pleasing to the eye than one designed by Apple.

Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad 2.0

    • Written by from BARRIGADA

Very comfortable keyboard. And this - the only option for people who work with numbers. For example, in accounting or communications. What I expect from Apple?
First, the new interface USB 3.0.
Second, backlit (!) keyboard with numeric keypad like Macbook keyboard.

    My Most Favorite Keyboard--EVER!!

    • Written by from Kansas City

I loved this keyboard from the first touch. I have typed professionally doing medical transcription since 1975. I love the touch. It is extremely quiet. I have long gel fingernails and I have not scratched or dented these keys. I have literally worn off the letters on many other keyboards. I will never use anything but this one! It is clean and sleek, and hands down the best I have ever used.

Make a backlit iMac keyboard please!!!

    • Written by from Rockledge

I have both the new iMac keyboard and the wireless keyboard. Both are superb quality, but I have to wish that Apple had made the wired version backlit like the Mac laptops. My wife's new Mac Pro Air is terrific, and the keyboard is so much nicer to use in dimmed lighting (such as you might use when gaming on your iMac.) Please take this as a suggestion, and not as a complaint--this is the best keyboard I've had in thirty years.

    Fantastic Keyboard

I have used a lot of keyboards, and I have to say this is by far the best and most comfortable keyboard that I've ever used. the only way I could see Apple improve it is by making it backlit like their MacBook Keyboards. Great job Apple.

Our 2nd Apple Keyboard with Numeric Keypad

This is an excellent keyboard. Its designed really well, built to last. We have 2 of these keyboards, and use them with our Mac Mini's. The keyboard is compact, and has to USB ports at the bottom. They don't take up much space and the keys feel great.
    Love them!

    I LOVE THIS KEYBOARD!

    • Written by from Denver

People please, buy this frickin keyboard! It's the frickin best one I have ever used! I bought the wired keyboard over the Magic Keyboard for 3 reasons. 1: It's #20 cheaper than the Magic Keyboard. 2: It has that numeric pad. 3: It has a USB 2.0 port on each side. It also works with Windows, although some special Mac keys (such as brightness adjustment) might not work. To anyone with a Mac Pro, iMac, MacBook, or even a Windows desktop or laptop, I recommend this keyboard!!!!
