2015 MacBook Pro 13 Retina does recognize this keyboard

Not even the latest 2015 MacBook Pro 13 Retina with El Capitan does recognize this keyboard in System Preferences - Keyboard - Change Keyboard Type and returns "Your keyboard cannot be identified.".

    Disappointed

I am very disappointed with this keyboard. SO far the apple products I have been buying were amazing. I had no issues with any of them until this keyboard came along. It worked fine for a couple of months, and then one day decided to not work anymore. Why? I have no idea why. I tried all the online procedures to fix this but came at no prevail. I looked deeper into the reviews (I wish I had done that the first time) and found people had the same problem and could not resolve it. This is my second keyboard, and it hasn't been a year yet! Apple if you really want to please your customers look at AlienWare or Ironside for adivce/help.

    Thanks:)

    Keyboard doesn't work

I'm this right moment using a the keyboard of my macbook pro because my work station is stopped. Sometimes the keyboard doesn't work, if you restart doesn't work, if you connect usb in other entrance doesn't work.... However, if you connect the same keyboard on 150U$ PC it works perfectly. I'm very upset with Apple on this product. I have Iphone, Ipods, Ipads, Macbook and others...

    Dysfunctional Space Key

I have found the space key on my brand new keyboard to be dysfunctional. It does not recognize my right thumb when it hits the key. The stroke is recognized only when my thumb is perfectly centered on the keyboard or a I use my left thumb, thus I say this is not a writers keyboard. Ernest Hemingway would have used this thing for target practice and I'm considering switching to a typewriter too.

    Doesn't Always Work

This would be an amazing keyboard if when you connected it it worked. I use this keyboard in a docking station type set-up with my laptop. As Apple doesn't actually offer a docking station, I had to create my own. I use a macbook pro 13 inch retina. I plug this keyboard in and out depending on where I am working, at my desk or on the move. However, the keyboard (or my mac) fairly regularly fails to recognize the fact that the keyboard is plugged in. Restarts don't work. Plugging and unplugging doesn't work. The extension cable that people suggest worked for a bit then stopped. Above all Apple tech support couldn't help. I highly recommend staying away from this keyboard if you plan on using it with a laptop. It could be great, but isn't. :/

Legit Kboard in USA or EUROPE!

Great and efficiency physics to inter-act with OSX at a democratic price!
My experience is I push vertically keys too much deeply and it hurts!

Best keyboard I have ever used

This is the best keyboard I have ever used. It is good looking and functional. I have had it for about five years and have experienced zero problems with it. It still types nicely and its easy to clean. I don't think that I will buy a different keyboard anytime soon, and if I do for some reason need another keyboard I would definitely get this one again. This keyboard has even gone so far as for me to dislike other keyboards because using this one is so satisfying.

Nice keyboard, but has some quirks

This keyboard is the perfect accessory for those of us who are willing to trade a USB port for the number pad - myself included :) Been using it for 3 weeks, and I am quite happy with it, although, like all Mac keyboards, it tends to be on the small side, and takes some getting used to for us large-handed long-fingered types (after a full-size Windows keyboard).
Two points I want to make about it, though:
    * The two USB 2.0 (yes, 2.0) ports that it has are NOT powered - can't charge your devices on them
    * Once you plug something into either of those ports - it's IN! As in - not coming out without a pair of pliers - literally! I had to use pliers to remove a USB extension cord from there.
They really aught to add power to them - no reason for a wired keyboard not to have that, and make them a lot looser :)
And, of course, I add my voice to those who are asking for a cordless keyboard with a number pad - it is long overdue.

    Mac External Extended Wired Keyboards

I have 3. The oldest, 2010, I use at work because the company supplied ones are nasty. Works perfectly. No2, 2014 lost a line of keys after 1 year, No 3, 2015, has just lost 3 numeric keys. Tried it on a different computer to no avail. I notice that the 'feel' of the newer ones is not as good as the 2010 version. I have been advised to take the failing ones to an Apple store, but at the price they are I really resent having to appeal to Apple to back products just out of warranty. I can buy a cheap and nasty keyboard that lasts for years, Apple ones, sleek, impressive and nice to use appear to be sub standard on the longevity test.

    it reeks

It might be a good keyboard but it will have to go back because it reeks. Its smells strongly of a mixture of acrylic nails and a touch of ammonia?

    Just not reliable...

Like so many others who have complained about this very thing, I too have had this keyboard get flakier and flakier until now it just doesn't work. It starts with you noticing it doesn't work and have to unplug it and plug it back in again. Over time that becomes more and more frequent and in the end the functionality is pretty much the same whether it's plugged in or not :-/.

Now if this was a Bluetooth keyboard (with ALL of the existing keys) I'd be all over this. But everybody says that too, and nobody's listening...

    Works fine since '09

Came in Jan 09 with my 24" iMac. Both continue to work fine. I'm on OS 10.5.8. The numeric keypad is essential for me.
    PROs:
    1. Key height – top row shorter, bottom row slightly longer (Apple screwed this up on the new Magic Keyboard).
    2. Tilt angle, tactile feel, ease of cleaning (always turn the keyboard upside down).
CONs (makes keyboard awkward to use – PC influence):
    1. The registration bumps are on the wrong keys. Apple's original approach was better.
    2. Middle block is wasted. Move the cursor keys to the main keypad (like wireless keyboards) and lose the others.

    Great Keyboard

This keyboard has good performance, and I have actually noticed that I type more accurately, and faster. For $49.00, this keyboard is a really good choice.

    Great Key Action

We have had one of these for quite a while on our home computer, and it works fine except for one thing: the "r" key occasionally pops off the base and you have to snap it back on. (There have been some complaints here about quality control.) Unfortunately, I never bothered to take it back, even though it happened within the first week or two we owned the thing.

I just bought another for my work machine, and the quality control issues seem to have been solved. It's a handsome piece of equipment. I love the key action. And everything stays where it's supposed to. So much better than the old Apple white extended keyboard, which was stiffening up beyond my ability to clean it. I can fly on this baby!

I only wish it came wireless with Bluetooth.

IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED MORE THAN A YEAR!

Bought the wired keyboard back on June, 2014 as my first flat keyboard after older apple's bulletproof version finally kicked the bucket. Given it has an awesome design, this thing failed after a little more than a year of light use. The keys are not responding or behave erratically, characters repeating themselves uncontrollably, etc. First i thought it's El Capitan update that caused the issue, but it did the same thing on other apple laptops with earlier OS. After reading a lot of forums and trying all the fixes possible, I concluded it was, in fact, the keyboard itself, and not the comp it's attached to. After reading all of the recent reviews here, i think i'm going for a third party keyboard this time.
