Great KB, only wish there was a wireless version

I've had this KB for three years. Wife and I love everything about it. A year ago our iMac stopped going to sleep so after numerous diagnostic calls to AppleCare, the tech's last ditch effort was to try another KB. Luckily we had our little wireless KB which we never used as we need the full numeric KB. Long story short, the KB was the cause. I guess one of the keys somehow became defective and it was only evident from the iMac's sleep behaviour. Apple replaced it and it's been great again since.

This is the first time we've ever experienced a KB failure which makes me a little leery about its long term reliability but outside of this issue it's been fantastic so we're happy with it. Our only wish is for Apple to make a wireless version of this.

Great Keyboard - but the white keys get dirty!

I love the keyboard, but white keys? While they look pretty they get dirty very fast and require regular cleaning. I think using black keys like on my MacBook Air would be much better.

This keyboard is really nice and easy to use. But when i put something in one of the USB ports i takes about a minute to get it out.

    Great keyboard

I really like this keyboard, I've been using it for many many years now. I like how you don't have to cram your fingers down on each key like most desktop keyboards, it has the thin key design you see on laptops which I like.
Many complain that it isn't wireless, but it comes with 2 USB ports on either side I plug my mouse in to. My only complaint is that when I upgraded to Lion, the icons printed on my function keys were inaccurate, as I have the older model specially made for Leopard. That's not really too much of an issue.
Another thing is that the USB ports only have enough power to them to use my mouse in it; most flash drives or my iPhone claim there isn't enough power when I plug them in. Not really a big issue either, I still recommend this keyboard.

    Wish it was wireless

My family just made the "switch" from PC to Mac. We love it, however, I am FORCED to use a PC for work. I bought this keyboard because I love the action while typing. HOWEVER, why not wireless? ugh. I would give me 5 stars if it was wireless. Other than that, is awesome and it works with a PC too.

    Lovin' it

I think I virtually like everything about it!
To start, it has a very sleek look.
The feel of typing on it is great
I work a lot on MS Excel, so the combination of MS Excel installed under virtual machine + this keyboard = you can do financial modeling on your macbook as speedy as on your work laptop

The only thing not that satisfactory is that it's not wireless, but the trade off is that the keyboard comes with 2 USB ports. So your net gain is an additional USB port!

That being said, I still hope apple could make a wireless version of this amazing keyboard!

    It's great but...

I love this keyboard. The size and spacing of the keys fits my hands just right. I don't make a lot of typing mistakes.

My only real complaint is this, I wish the keyboard would light up!!! I use it plugged into my MacBook Pro as my computer sits on a raised platform on my desk. I mean, if it can be done for a laptop keyboard, why can't they have the external keyboard also have back-lit capability? Kinda surprised that Apple hasn't jumped on this.

    Pretty good, but not perfect

It's very comfortable to type on, specially that you won't need to work your fingers too much - I guess that helps preventing micro trauma quite a bit. But the fact that the first row containing the function keys is right next to the rest of the keys makes it very difficult for me to locate the digit keys easily.

I usually type with the keyboard tray retracted all the way in and seldom see the keys. Once I get the home keys F and J, I can easily find the alphabet keys, but locating the correct digit key on the top row is usually a bit of a hassle for me. If the function keys had a little bit of a distance from the rest of the keys, it would've been easier for me to locate them.

Same goes for the numeric keypad and the top row of function keys.

Seriously, why is there no wireless version?

I effing love this keyboard. It's so easy to use, but seriously, why do we have to choose between having a complete keyboard and having wireless? MAKE A WIRELESS VERSION ALREADY. There are enough people asking for it.
I'm a PC girl, and I would still go out and buy the wireless version of this even though I already have the wired one.

The cord is rather short, even with the extender. Once again, problem solved by wireless version.

    Excellent, lightweight keyboard

Keys are responsive and comfortable for typing emails, documents, etc... It's incredibly lightweight and takes up little space on a desk and the USB cord is long enough to be used in the lap/lap desk if needed. My only gripe is with the spacebar and I've seen other reviews about this issue as well so I guess it's just something to deal with but the spacebar makes a WEIRD noise depending on where you strike it. Seems to get better with each use though so it could be an issue that improves over time. Overall, it's great but I can't give it 5 stars due to the spacebar and also the fact that the bottom is rather sticky, meaning it can't be easily moved across a surface; you have to pick the whole thing up.

    Brilliant, but why not Wireless?!

It is the best keyboard I have used. It is quiet, the keys are perfectly spaced and great to type on - the speed and accuracy with which I type has increased immediately simply because of the keyboard. It also looks great.

BUT. Why on earth is it not wireless? They layout and numeric pad are so perfect, that surely it would not take much to create a wireless version! It would sell. people would buy it. So make it! There are millions of people out there who do need to be able to input numbers rapidly into their macs, and it is a shame that there is not a version of this keyboard in wireless. Show your customers that you listen to their suggestions, and please bring out a wireless version!

    Should be standard with iMac

I love it! Low profile keys took some getting-used-to, but my fingers are flying over those babies now, mostly typo-free. I use the extra USB ports daily for a flash drive. It's easier than reaching behind my iMac monitor.

    My beefs:
    1. It should be bluetooth (even if that means sacrificing the USB ports).
    2. It should be included with a new iMac.

It really bugs me that my new iMac came with a keyboard minus number pad. I find the number pad essential for everyday use. I'm just a regular guy, not a financial professional. Makes sense to chop if off of a laptop. Laptops travel, so they need to be frugal on space & weight. I didn't buy a laptop. I bought a desktop. I also think the longer keyboard looks better under the widescreen iMac. For the next version, I suggest concave keys and if wireless, the keyboard should be solar-powered, like the Logitech that I came extremely close to buying, until I found one of these for half price on craigslist.

    Bottom line: Great keyboard.

    Great Keyboard!

I got this keyboard and it kind of scared me. I plugged it into my computer and it didn't work. My mouse was plugged into a USB port on the keyboard and it didn't work either. I unplugged the included extension cable and plugged the keyboard directly into the keyboard and it worked! The extension cable works too! Don't know what happened. Works great now.

    Durable and convenient

Although the USB ports on this keyboard don't have enough power to charge your iPod or allow you to run your backup disk seamlessly, its great for thumbdrives and computer mice. This keyboard is surprisingly durable, the entire thing still works after I spilled a glass of water on it.

In addition, its quiet no matter how hard you hit the keys and it significantly increased my typing speed!

    great keyboard for gaming!

I purchased this keyboard at a MicroCenter for 50$ a few weeks ago and I love it! Along with the college papers I've written with it I love to play World of Warcraft with it. The F keys go all the way across the top up to F 19. It's awesome to have extra hot keys. The home, end, page up, and page down don't seem to work like I remember them working on my old PCs. Aside from that little flaw I love the extra F keys and the over look and size of it. The extra USB port is cool too. A must have for WoW players that have Macs!

    Important safety tip.

This really is a great keyboard, but I do have to say there's one fatal flaw. Any other keyboard, if you spill something on it, at the very best you'll have sticky keys and at the worst it will stop working. With this keyboard, the aluminum face means that it is electrically conductive. And while as far as I know, the amperage is too low to be dangerous, having to replace an otherwise working keyboard because touching it gives you an unpleasant buzzing sensation isn't exactly fun. Definitely get a spill-proof cover for this one.
