This Keyboard > More Expense Magic Keyboard

I cannot believe this keyboard is half the price of the wireless one that has less keys and is less user friendly. I love that the keys are springy and raised up higher than the magic keyboard. It makes it so much easier and faster to type, especially if you have long nails like myself. I struggled to type on the magic keyboard but it is truly a breeze and pleasure on this keyboard. The keyboard is also physically raised up higher versus the magic keyboard, in my opinion making it much easier on your wrists and more effective for quick typing, which is what a keyboard's function is. This keyboard is sturdy and reliable, unlike the magic keyboard that loved to disconnect at times or act strange where I would have to disconnect the bluetooth and reconnect it again.

The only con would be if you have a small work space, the keyboard is pretty long, and competes for space with my mouse and trackpad.

ALL IN ALL, I love this keyboard, I never thought I'd genuinely enjoy a keyboard until I got my hands on this one. Highly recommend it.

Lot of money for something that won't last

Nice looking keyboard but iMac won't acknowledge it exists. Just something that happens after a year or two. It of course does this on startup so i couldn't log in until I brought an old pic keyboard from work.Imay just stick with that keyboard instead of spending another $50

    Short Lifespan

I'm sorry I have to join the negative club, as it's a very nice keyboard while it lasts. But I've had to replace one for all the reasons listed by others. Keys lose their spring, and just lie flat. They lose their electronic connectivity, and no longer function. They lie lopsided, and cue multiple strikes whenever touched. These things should not occur as they do, at the age of the product that they do (and without warranty support that lasts long enough; unless you're okay getting just one year of protected use from your product).

    Doesn't Always Work

This would be an amazing keyboard if when you connected it it worked. I use this keyboard in a docking station type set-up with my laptop. As Apple doesn't actually offer a docking station, I had to create my own. I use a macbook pro 13 inch retina. I plug this keyboard in and out depending on where I am working, at my desk or on the move. However, the keyboard (or my mac) fairly regularly fails to recognize the fact that the keyboard is plugged in. Restarts don't work. Plugging and unplugging doesn't work. The extension cable that people suggest worked for a bit then stopped. Above all Apple tech support couldn't help. I highly recommend staying away from this keyboard if you plan on using it with a laptop. It could be great, but isn't. :/

Best keyboard I have ever used

This is the best keyboard I have ever used. It is good looking and functional. I have had it for about five years and have experienced zero problems with it. It still types nicely and its easy to clean. I don't think that I will buy a different keyboard anytime soon, and if I do for some reason need another keyboard I would definitely get this one again. This keyboard has even gone so far as for me to dislike other keyboards because using this one is so satisfying.

Nice keyboard, but has some quirks

This keyboard is the perfect accessory for those of us who are willing to trade a USB port for the number pad - myself included :) Been using it for 3 weeks, and I am quite happy with it, although, like all Mac keyboards, it tends to be on the small side, and takes some getting used to for us large-handed long-fingered types (after a full-size Windows keyboard).
Two points I want to make about it, though:
    * The two USB 2.0 (yes, 2.0) ports that it has are NOT powered - can't charge your devices on them
    * Once you plug something into either of those ports - it's IN! As in - not coming out without a pair of pliers - literally! I had to use pliers to remove a USB extension cord from there.
They really aught to add power to them - no reason for a wired keyboard not to have that, and make them a lot looser :)
And, of course, I add my voice to those who are asking for a cordless keyboard with a number pad - it is long overdue.

    Mac External Extended Wired Keyboards

I have 3. The oldest, 2010, I use at work because the company supplied ones are nasty. Works perfectly. No2, 2014 lost a line of keys after 1 year, No 3, 2015, has just lost 3 numeric keys. Tried it on a different computer to no avail. I notice that the 'feel' of the newer ones is not as good as the 2010 version. I have been advised to take the failing ones to an Apple store, but at the price they are I really resent having to appeal to Apple to back products just out of warranty. I can buy a cheap and nasty keyboard that lasts for years, Apple ones, sleek, impressive and nice to use appear to be sub standard on the longevity test.

    it reeks

It might be a good keyboard but it will have to go back because it reeks. Its smells strongly of a mixture of acrylic nails and a touch of ammonia?

    Just not reliable...

Like so many others who have complained about this very thing, I too have had this keyboard get flakier and flakier until now it just doesn't work. It starts with you noticing it doesn't work and have to unplug it and plug it back in again. Over time that becomes more and more frequent and in the end the functionality is pretty much the same whether it's plugged in or not :-/.

Now if this was a Bluetooth keyboard (with ALL of the existing keys) I'd be all over this. But everybody says that too, and nobody's listening...

    Works fine since '09

Came in Jan 09 with my 24" iMac. Both continue to work fine. I'm on OS 10.5.8. The numeric keypad is essential for me.
    PROs:
    1. Key height – top row shorter, bottom row slightly longer (Apple screwed this up on the new Magic Keyboard).
    2. Tilt angle, tactile feel, ease of cleaning (always turn the keyboard upside down).
CONs (makes keyboard awkward to use – PC influence):
    1. The registration bumps are on the wrong keys. Apple's original approach was better.
    2. Middle block is wasted. Move the cursor keys to the main keypad (like wireless keyboards) and lose the others.

    Great Keyboard

This keyboard has good performance, and I have actually noticed that I type more accurately, and faster. For $49.00, this keyboard is a really good choice.

    Great Key Action

We have had one of these for quite a while on our home computer, and it works fine except for one thing: the "r" key occasionally pops off the base and you have to snap it back on. (There have been some complaints here about quality control.) Unfortunately, I never bothered to take it back, even though it happened within the first week or two we owned the thing.

I just bought another for my work machine, and the quality control issues seem to have been solved. It's a handsome piece of equipment. I love the key action. And everything stays where it's supposed to. So much better than the old Apple white extended keyboard, which was stiffening up beyond my ability to clean it. I can fly on this baby!

I only wish it came wireless with Bluetooth.

    Best Keyboard ever

We had the old keyboard from the first Intel iMac, and the buttons consistently stuck. Rather than buying a new iMac, I know what a horrible reason to do so, we bought a new keyboard. This thing is perfect for email, documents, and world of warcraft.

    Great Customer Service

I called in after finding that my keyboard had been bent up a little bit in the mail (probably just due to heat), and the guy was like, "Okay, we'll just send you another one." He got my information, and another one is on its way.

I love these keyboards, and now I'm a fan of their customer support, too.

One of the nicest keyboards around

At first, this keyboard may look like just a basic keyboard, but it's much more than that. Even though I own a hp elite m9300 PC, I still prefer this keyboard over the standard one that came with my PC. It's a lot easier to type with this keyboard. I now type 11 words a minute, as opposed to 9 words per minute on my old keyboard. It's got a great design. It's sleek and stylish, though I really don't perfer the color of the keys. All in all, this is a great keyboard that is well worth investing in.
