    nice keyboard, good upgrade

Nice step up for the keyboard. The key strokes are really smooth because of the low profile keys. It doesnt' get dirt trapped around the keys like the older keyboard did. The preset F keys are nice. There are pics on each key that correspond to their function. Those F keys with no preset have no pic so adding a function to those is a sinch and getting the functions confused is totally gone. Instant access to lots of features w/o having to open the program or utility. great apple keyboard feature.

The only real issue I've had is the USB ports on the keyboard. I use a mac mini and the aluminum keyboard connected to the mini won't allow 2.0 devices. 2.0 use is only available when used with the aluminum iMac. my old keyboard when connected to the mac mini, allowed 2.0 device hookups (ie flash drives). I might pull my old keyboard out and compare the two. If you can give up the 2.0 feature its a good buy.

    B-E-A-utiful

I have been looking at this keyboard ever since it came out just wanting to go and pick it up, but I already had a keyboard so why get another one, what will I do with the old one? Well my chance came and I'm glad I switched. I have always loved the feel of a Laptop keyboard and this is as close to one that I will get for my iMac. I like the look, minimalistic and it's profile is great, the layout takes some getting used to but with a few mods of the F keys it's just like the old keyboard.

    Truly Disappointed

Oh my gosh… HELP!! I have been typing for well over 30 years and this new keyboard has put me into a state of complete stress. I agree that visually this is a great looking keyboard but honestly my self-esteem is in jeopardy from all the errors I’m experiencing!! I had to go back at least 9 times in the first sentence alone because of mistakes I made from the keyboard. There seems to be no consistency to the way the keys react to the touch. F1 – F4 used to be my favorite keys for the type of work I do… (lots of cutting, copying and pasting) now I have to hit command c then command v to copy and paste. Not a clean flow. I know about the fn key but that still requires a stop and search move. Physically, I’m experiencing serious cramping and pain related issues in my fingers and hands. I LOVE my new iMAC but pray there’s another keyboard I can switch to. Any thoughts?

    Finally.

Finally a keyboard that's not too thick, that offers nice key response (physical and in the OS), that is simple and that works great. I use it with my Macbook and the Apple mouse plugged into it. No problem at all.

    Highly recommended.

    New Keybaord

I love the new Apple keyboard! It is so easy to use and your fingers really glide on top of it. Some of the new F key functions on it are nice too. Nice going!

    Good Keyboard!

Overall this keyboard is really great. The keys are spaced out making it easy to avoid mistakes. The keyboard buttons are much like the macbook keyboard though of course the Apple Keyboard is larger and thinner. The think i also like about it is the thickness. The small angle feels more comfortable then completely flat or at a very high angle. I also like the button size. I could never type quickly with big chunky buttons though this keyboard the buttons are extemly flat and i make few mistakes with it.

    Apple wired Keyboard

Love, love, LOVE the new keyboard! I had a spill on my old one (first time for me) & I'm actually glad it happened - I didn't realize the new keyboard was so light and has almost silent key operation. I use the usb side ports for mice & cameras.

    Slick keyboard

Got a new iMac at work a couple of weeks ago (moving from a PC) & when I first saw this keyboard, I thought there was no way I'd be able to type on it. Took to it immediately! Now, when I have to use a PC, the old school keyboad feels really clunky. Have not had any problems with the Apple keyboard (as one use described in regards to delays when pressing keys, etc.--might be because he's using it on old Macs?). Anyway, I'll be replacing my PC keyboard at home with one of these. Good job, Apple!

Works Great on my Windows Vista PC

I'm please to say that this keyboard works on Windows based PCs. Chunk by chunk, I'm moving towards an Apple world!

    Fat and clumsy finger fixer.

As a programmer, I have been typing for a long time. I have larger fingers than an average person, and as a result when using a typical keyboard which has taller keys and which must be pressed further down, I would always end up hitting other nearby keys. This would reduce both the speed and accuracy of my typing.

When I first saw this keyboard in the store I wasn't interested, but when I used my friend's for a project, I was absolutely amazed at the dramatic increase is typing proficiency. I immediately purchased one that day. Since then I hardly ever hit other keys when typing. The good key spacing, and shorter keys have solved my problem.

I have never been so glad with an accessory upgrade like this. 5 Stars.

    Different, but good.

At first, I wasn't sure if I liked the feel, which is completely different than any other keyboard I've had. But now that I'm using it daily, I actually like it better than any keyboard I've ever had.

Breaking convention works in this case. I believe you'll see more of these in the future.

The best Keyboard At Any Price!

This ultra thin keyboard is absolutely the best I've ever come across... As a Windows user, integration with XP and Vista is flawless.. I highly recommend this board to anyone seeking great feel, looks and performance.

    Great

I just bought this keyboard after testing it out at the store. I love this keyboard and typing with it proves to be extremely easy. With Apples old keyboard the keys sloped upwards and it hurt typing documents for long periods of time. The curve is less a problem here and now typing is much improved.

Another plus side to this keyboard is that I personally think that the USB ports are placed better than the old. It gives the mouse more of a free range I thought.

    mmmmm, sweet

first of: it works with PCs, a few of the keys are swapped (@, ¬ etc.) and the special function keys (dashboard, brightness etc.) don't work, but that's to be expected.

overall this keyboard is a joy to use, i'm actually rather dissappointed i haven't had to do more typing, as it's that nice to use.

A lot of people mention the short travel of the keys, some obviously hate it but personally i love it. I think it depends a lot on how used to a normal long travel type keyboard you are, if you have used a traditional keyboard eveyday for the past 10 years your going to have difficulty gettign used to this keyboard, although i think most people will find it quite easy to use.

I would have given this 5 stars, although as a few people mention, you do get loads of typos for some reason. For example there were 5 in this review (before i corrected them!)

    I love it

I must admit. I really did not like the previous keyboard. To me it looked cheap, was hard to clean, plus I didn't like response feel of the keys. The new design is outstanding. Apple removed all my complaints. The keys response is very good. The low angle is feel natural. If anything I would add it would be to return the Apple key. Anyway, it well worth the cost.

    Great Keyboard, but...

......I wish it was wireless, I use the number pad a lot and don't like being tethered. Maybe Mr. Jobs. will help us out with a wireless version of the full keypad real soon.

Apples Peripherals Are Made To Be Looked At, Not Used.

Extremely disappointed with the keyboard. First off the side USBs get in the way when you're trying to use them. Second, the USB ports couldn't even power a USB mouse and USB headset. But somehow the predecessor white USB keyboard had no problem with it.

    Appearance won out over ergonomics

This keyboard is attractive. Unfortunately that is the only positive thing I have to say. It was obviously designed with appearance in mind and no regard to ergonomics or usability. You have to tilt your wrists up in order to use the keyboard because it is so thin, leading to wrist pain. And the keys are so shallow in depth, that they are difficult to press and lead to strained fingers. If you are prone to wrist pain, and need to do a lot of typing I would pass on this keyboard.

    Awesome!

As a fast typer I was worried about the reviews stating that this keyboard easily produces typos, etc. However, I've been using one of these bad boys for several weeks and I love it. No problems, very smooth typing as little pressure is required..my hands pretty much feel like they are flowing and it is quite comfortable. I had been using the older apple keyboards for years (as well as apple laptop keyboards) and found no difficulty in switching to this newer layout-no adaption "phase" required at all. I even find that little things like eraser dust and other small particles do not get stuck in the keyboard as there are really no gaps, thus this keyboard stays clean and operational.

I highly recommend it..no issues with it at all although since it is not highly slanted, some people may find that the keyboard is better placed low down. Also, a wrist guard makes typing on this keyboard even more comfortable.
