    Poor built

A few months in and the right click area smply doesn't work anymore. Well, sometimes it will, most time it won't. Just another fail recently from Apple, you are so much wanking off on design that you are losing sight of quality and detail. The iMac this mouse is attached to works fine but is not nearly the speed monster that the price would suggest and not like the old iMacs I had, and the OSX updates seem to consistently make everything SLOWER.
    get your act together.

    Worst mouse ever!

I rarely left any feedback but this mouse is driving me so crazy that I spent 5 mins to reset my Apple ID password in order to log on and leave this 1-star feedback. Worst mouse of all time! If there was a hall of fame for bad mice, hands down this mouse should be nominated.

    Worst mouse I've ever used.

This mouse is a joke. Its 2016 and this mouse is still for sale? The price is just silly and the usability is garbage. Stop selling this trash. I've bought better keyboard/mice sets for less money than apple is charging for this waste of plastic. Stop contributing to waste in the world.

    Cord Too Small

The cord needs another foot or so before this could be a worthwhile product.

    Worst mouse ever

My thumb always resides on force touch side button and beause of that I an unable to do a left click almost always. And switching off of side buttons doesn't work as well. Also, doesn't work good on surfaces where other mouses work good

    Waste of money

I'm going to start by saying: I threw my apple mouse on the floor out of frustration. The Apple Mouse is terrible. It feels awkward to grasp, the scroll gesture on the mouse is rubbish, and the mouse loses connection all the time.

This is the greatest mouse I have ever used! I love the design, The 360 degree scroll bar, and it works great with Mac OS X and Windows! If you are looking for a new mouse, I highly recommend this mouse for OS X and Windows Users!

Don't understand all of the fuss

I love this mouse. I like it so much I use it on my PC, which I am using temporarily in place of my Mac. Sideway scrolling is the key feature for me. It's a game changer in Illustrator and InDesign. Right click works for me. I just make sure I am clicking to the far right side of the mouse.

My only criticism - and this is probably not Apple's issue - is that sideway scrolling does not work in some programs where one might think it would. For example, it doesn't work for me in Photoshop, but I'm really glad it works in Illustrator and InDesign. I need it more there anyway. I assume that Photoshop programmers did not write in sideway scrolling, whereas those working on Indesign and Illustrator did. I don't think it's fair to remove a star for that.

Many have complained that the ball stops working, but I haven't had a bit of trouble. I have extremely oily skin, so if it is going to be a problem for anyone, it should be a big deal for me. I just cleaned it for the first time using the paper method and barely any dirt appeared on the paper.

No matter what kind of machine I am working on, I plan to always have this mouse in my right hand.

    Rubbish Mouse EVER!

Sometimes, I feel throwing it away! Especially in graphic designing and sound editing, whenever my finger accidentally touches in the middle, without any intention to scroll, but it does scroll. So, so, so much annoying.

    Ball stops working

I read the comments before buying this mouse, and for some reason I didn't listen. Everyone says that the ball stops working in a few months. I have had my mouse for two months, and the ball has stopped working. For a $50 mouse, I don't think I should be having this problem.

    Love this mouse.

I've used several of these (starting with the original wireless version) since it was introduced and absolutely love it. It feels good and substantial and the scroll ball is wonderful (just keep your hands clean, and you'll be fine). I've tried the magic mouse a few times and it drives me nuts. I've found I can depend on this mouse to help me navigate the system with ease, dexterity and speed.

On the few occasions the scroll ball has gotten too dirty to respond, the paper trick has worked every time, and very quickly.

    Ok, wireless would be better

This mouse is really cool- it's got lots of buttons which you can set up to do a lot of different things. The scroll wheel lets you scroll 360 degrees. The only thing that gets really annoying is the cord. It might not be as "in the way" if I were using a desktop computer, but when you're using it with a Macbook, it gets in the way. The other thing is that it's hard to carry the mouse around with the cord sticking out. (Yes, you can wrap it around, but that becomes tedious after a couple times.) Overall, it's a great mouse, but it would be better if it was wireless. If I had a choice, I would spend the extra money and buy the wireless and multi-touch Magic Mouse 2.

    Amazingly bad..!

Sure, you pay a little more than you want to, but in return you get an Apple product with great design and quality, right?
...mweh... not so sure anymore these days. This mouse is another example. The most basic things a mouse should do is move a cursor around, respond to clicks, and scroll properly. Amazingly, in ALL these respects it fails to deliver.

    1. Tracking is slow and imprecise - I had to ramp it up beyond what system prefernces would allow me, through a terminal command. Sometimes it tracks faster, sometimes slower... I have to admit that I don't use a mousepad, but with my desk surface tracking has never been a problem for any other mouse except for this one.

    2. Right clicks... work 85% of the time. Just about any other mouse works fine with my comp, but the moment I plug this one in the right clicks start failing.

    3. Scrolling feels jerky and imprecise. Also this works much smoother with my much cheaper Logitech mouse attached.

How they manage to mess up in all these distinct but crucial aspects that make a mouse a MOUSE is beyond me. I have never paid more for a mouse. I have never received less from a mouse. These are two separate facts of which the combination kind of blows my mind. Big thumbs down, apple...

Very nice to use; a hassle to clean

Overall this mouse is quite useful. The 360 degree scroll wheel works like a charm. The only hassle is cleaning the scroll ball. This is what worked for me :

    1. Rubbing the ball upside-down on printer paper
    2. Rubbing the ball on a wet cloth
    3. Cleaning the ball with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol

    Repeat every month.

Scroll wheel broke after only 3 months

The magic mouse couldn't stay connected to my Macbook for more than 3 minutes in a row, so I had decided to exchange it for a standard Apple Mouse. I've been using this standard Apple mouse with great satisfaction, until the scroll wheel stopped scrolling upwards after only 3 months. No Apple mouse for me anymore.

    Apple Wireless Mouse

First and foremost, this occurs on multiple machines and multiple mice. Second, it's been a nagging problem for years, through each version of the OS up to Yosemite. Third, this is not a problem with wireless mice in general, it's Apple's specific problem. Finally, it's astonishing that they have allowed this small device render my $2,500 plus systems useless for most tasks without having to restart the computer, and this design company is incapable of fixing its own hardware. Restarting is generally the ONLY way to get this working again. None of the B.S. offered in various Apple troubleshooting guides works. Turning the mouse off and on, turning bluetooth off and on, taking the batteries out of the mouse, nothing works. I feel like I'm using a $100 piece of junk not a top-end laptop when the mouse fails to connect or reconnect.

    Perfect mouse!

I have used this mouse professionally (8-15 hours a day) exclusively since 2001 and I only had to clean the track ball once, used a bit of rubbing alcohol with it unplugged from the machine. I wish they made a wireless version, and updated the technology, it's impossible to beat that micro track ball when you need to move left and right and up and down, it makes work very much easier! MY FAVORITE APPLE TOOL!

I like this mouse I bought 8 years ago

I got this Apple Mouse (with a little ball on the top) some 8 years ago and I am still using it. Of course I needed to clean it once a while with alcohol/clean paper by repeated rolling it over. I love this mouse, it's sexy, it's touchy, it's the one for my hand. I hope Apple could improve this product a bit by allowing users to open for better cleaning.

Over these years I also tried several different mouses, some Dell ones, some Apple ones (I have Apple computers both at work and at home), however none compare to this mouse. Lately I bought a new same type Apple Mouse (with a little ball on the top). However the new one is a little hard to press, a little tough to scroll, etc. -- I revert to my old 8 year mouse again. Did Apple "improve" the product to fit stronger hand??

I think one day I will learn to open up this mouse for a better cleaning. I can't find its replacement any more!

Scroll Ball Will Fail, Guranteed. Consider this mouse a consumable.

The first one failed after 2 years. It stopped scrolling down. The second one also failed after 2 years. It stopped scrolling up and down.

The cleaning methods mentioned in other reviews worked only a few times.

The failing scroll ball is mentioned many times in other reviews, but I feel I need to do what I can to bring down the rating for this mouse.
