Very useful but different yet i love it

    • Written by from dunnville

I got this mouse for my new mack book pro witch posed some problems because the wire(i got the wired one because of price) didn't reach around to the left hand side however i got a usb extender so it fine now. I find the mouse to be extremely useful because of its four buttons so i am very pleased with it so i would very much recommended it although it takes some getting used to compared to other mouses for right clicking But after a while i see now problems with it so enjoy yours.

    Works fine

    • Written by from Lake Forest Park

I bought this mouse after we replaced an old Mac with a new one which came with this mouse, and I liked the new capabilities. I've wanted right clicks on Mac for years. I thought I would put some mileage on it before reviewing it. I've now used it for 1 1/2 years nearly every day in an office environment. Occasionally it has the scrolling problem, but if I turn it over and roll the ball around (like the instructions say to), it restores operation. I like to rest two fingers on the mouse and that will confuse it on right and left clicks, so I need to lift a finger off to make sure I get the correct click. With these two adaptations, I'm very happy with it.

I would not consider going back to my old mouse.

    Mighty Fine

I'm with Charles. Have had the mouse for almost a year and it has performed flawlessly. Of course, like anything else, an ounce of prevention probably helps - a small dust cloth over the mouse when I'm away. I work in a room that accumulates dust quickly, but so far, so good.

Second to none in my book

    • Written by from SAINT CHARLES

I have no idea what these people are talking about who have given this mouse anything else but stellar reviews. This mouse has only one short coming and it is that you might have to do some periodic maintenance (i.e. compressed air on the track ball). I have had this mouse for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. If you treat it well then it will treat you well.

    Mighty Mouse scroll ball

    • Written by from Bradenton

I purchased a Mighty Mouse for my G5 shortly after it came out and have had good results since, cleaning the scroll ball occasionally with a moist cloth. It recently stopped scrolling down and no amount of cleaning helped. I replaced with a Logitech mouse but did not like the scroll wheel. Before going to the local Apple store to buy a new Mighty Mouse, I tried one last approach. With the mouse disconnected and upside down I used a cloth well soaked with alcohol and cleaned the ball vigorously and for several minutes in all directions. When I reconnected it the scroll ball worked smoothly in all directions. I now believe cleaning with alcohol on occasion is a good maintenance practice.

    Awesome Mouse Apple!

    • Written by from Chesapeake

Well my solution to those who have problems with this mouse, I wash my hands before using my Mac. I have had this mouse for almost 3 years now. I have the original Mighty Mouse (the one with the Grey force sensors on the sides not the white ones) and its scroll ball works just as it did when I bought it. My advice: stop eatin the Cheetos and chips while on the Mac. First of all, thats what makes you fat and its not healthy. Second, wash your freakin hands people! Thats why all your MM's are gettin screwed. Cause you people bring food around the Mac and its peripherals, and it then gets all over them, and Apple didn't design their product(s) to be used in a kitchen. So don't get food on it and wash your hands. My scroll ball isn't even dirty just because I wash my hands every single time I got to use the Mac. And don't get me wrong people, I am on my Mac all day, everyday, and my MM is going on 3 years now. It still looks brand new. So its you not Apple. Stop blamin others for your actions. Grow up and take some responsibility. Long story short, if you washyour hands before using this product, you will be problem free.

    Scroll Ball Problems? Not anymore

    • Written by from Henderson

First off, this IS a great mouse. It seems the biggest complaint is the rollerball used to scroll. I understand that this is a very important feature, and it is used more than any button on the mouse, so I wanted to share the fix with you. There are two, maybe three, ways to fix this problem.

First...wash your hands, people. If you have nasty hands and fingers, it will get dirty faster.

Second...if the scroll ball gets stuck (ie. can't scroll at all...or only scrolls in one direction) here is the secret. Turn the mouse upside-down and roll, with some pressure, the ball on a piece of paper. This will get all the junk and dirt out of the mouse. Sure, you will do this a few times a year, but since this is the main complaint that pushes people to give the mouse a one-star, this should bump up your enjoyment of this mouse to 4 or 5. I love this mouse and I will never get a different kind.

Oh, yeah, the third thing... It's a physical tool...its going to get dirty. Take care of your stuff, and it will last longer.

Listen, even though some critics say this mouse is horrible, the fact is that this mouse has quality that surpasses all other mouses in the market. For example, the because of the unique design of the mouse, it seamlessly fits in your hand causing little to no pain after long term use (8-10 hours is how long i am at the computer on average). In addition, the scroll ball is phenomenal! Because of it's 360 degree rolling capability it offers a seamless user interface with almost any application. Also, this mouse has spectacular performance, I am a graphic designer and work with vector bases applications like Adobe Illustrator CS4, and this mouse allows for miniscule movements while creating small vector lines. Overall this mouse has been an important asset to my work and i would not use anything else. it is worth every penny.

So good I miss it when at work.

    • Written by from Stratford

I have to admit, much of what I like about this mouse is the integration with the Mac OS, but still, it's excelent. I'm very used to Exposé this is what I miss the most when using my Dell laptop at work.

    Scroll-ball click > App Exposé
    Side-squeeze > Dashboard

It was getting to my nerves when it first started not responding to up/down scrolling until I learned how to open it up and clean the scroll-ball rolls - BTW, the insides are impeccably designed, as it is the scroll-ball mechanism. The one I have on use must be over 3 years old now with maintenance. I haven't opened yet the one that came with my iMac!

    Love It

    • Written by from Fairfax

I have had the apple wired mouse for almost a year. I am still using the one that came with my imac. I have never had an issue with the mouse. I was thinking about buying the wireless one, so I began by reading the reviews to see if it was worth the money. After realizing that almost half the reviews are bad because of issues pertaining to the scroll ball, I decided to write a review myself. It has been almost a year and my scroll ball has never faltered. Maybe my mouse is just a fluke, but i would like to think that apple does provide good products to the majority of people.

I've been using the Apple Might Mouse for about a year by now.

I've been very happy with it. I have had to clean the 'little ball' once or twice. It wasn't difficult. I think I just followed the instructions I had found somewhere on this site.

I don't mean to judge anyone. But I have read a lot of complaints about the 'little ball' getting dirty 'too easily.' If you like to eat certain foods while you use your computer, this might not be the mouse for you. You can probably just take a look at your keyboard to determine if your level of cleanliness will be conducive to Mighty Mouse usage. If you have a lot of filamentous structures (aka mold) strewn throughout with small food particles permeating every crevice, you may want to look elsewhere and hope a third-party will come out with a new product for you. They could call it the 'Dirty Mouse,' if they were so inclined.

I just bought this mouse yesterday for Windows, even though some features don't work, it's amazing! It has a comfortable grip and is easy to use! I hope that my scroll bar doesn't get jammed though. Anyway, I love it so much that I ordered the keyboard online and I am waiting to get it. You got to have this, Windows or Mac!!

Good mouse, works fine for me

    • Written by from Aurora

I bought this mouse about 3 years ago. Its been working great for me. I am a heavy computer user, and I use my mini just about all day. I originally bought the Mighty Mouse to replace a cheep MS mouse that quit. Only once have I had an issue with a gunked up scroll wheel, you basically tip the mouse over and work the grit out by gently rolling the ball over a shirt or something, works for me. Have not had a problem with it sense. The only issue that I have noticed is left clickers who do not lift their index finger when left clicking find it perplexing and frustrating when they don't get the action they expect. This wasn't an issue for me, and the other person using the computer was able to curve this so that it would not be a problem. It works great, its a solid product, I love the scroll-ability of the mouse, and the side buttons expose and the center click on the scroll wheel for widgets. Oh just out of curiosity, I did wet my hand and try the scroll ball, it did temporarily stop working, so if you have extremely greasy hands or wet hands or something I suppose that could be an issue, probably should be washing and drying your hands before and after using the computer anyhow if thats the case ;)
