    Scroll Ball Is Weak

    • Written by from Meridian

While the mouse itself works fine, I've now owned 3 of these and had the scroll ball go bad on all of them, pretty quickly too. One of them didn't even make it more than a few days before the scroll ball wouldn't register left or right. The one I'm currently using only registers 'up' on the ball now, and even that is really sporadic. Get a different mouse if you want to scroll.

    OK but

    • Written by from New Milford

The mouse works well but why is the cord so short????? With the macbook having the USB ports on the left and being right handed the cord constantly gets caught where the screen and body meet in the back. The only other option is to lay it over the keypad which is not a good solution. Had to buy and extension to use it, not good.

I received one for christmas - I have a couple at work and love them. After using it for just a couple of hours it started creaking and generally feels cheap. I compared it to the one attached to my wife's 2 year old imac and her's feels solid (as do mine at work). I took it back to the store and they replaced it for a new one. Just got home and began using it and this one feels flimsy as well! It literally squeaks (no pun intended) every time you even slightly press down on the top of the mouse. I guess I'll try returning it again for another and see if the third time's the charm.

    Terrible mouse

    • Written by from Sugar Land

I have used this mouse for almost a year now, and I have to say it is pretty bad. Occasionally it will jump from place to place on the screen, usually a corner, which will trigger the hot corners (which I want to keep). Also, sometimes it will just stop letting you scroll in a direction. Sometimes it might be scrolling down, and everything else will be fine. Overall, this mouse is terrible.

    no scrolling for you

    • Written by from Brooklyn

Come on Apple. 2.5 stars. You've gotta have customer service peeps reading this junk. I loved it while it worked, but it's the same story. Broken scroller ball. Impossible to clean. Fix this product or design a new one!

    Very unreliable

    • Written by from Lakeside

i want to like this mouse. It's beautiful, accurate, and its scroll wheel is a joy to use. The only problem with this mouse, and the major reason that i refrain from using it, is the fact that the "right" mouse button is so unreliable. I've tried a number of times to find a sweet spot on the front right portion of this mouse that i know will right click every time i press down on it, and the location seems to change every time. Its quite frustrating for music production, where i constantly rely on context menus to speed up my workflow. I also would refuse to use this in a gaming situation.

I suppose that this mouse would be a good fit for someone who just wants to have something that looks nice on their desktop while they check email and use a wordprocessing application, it seems unreasonable to utilize this if one plans on getting any work done. For all their bragging about "breathtaking design" im rather disappointed that apple didnt realize this upon mass production of this mouse. I'll stick to my logitech mouse till apple improves on this.

Although all the bad ratings I said, "ok this is Apple, it is not going to happen to me"...well my friend I was wrong. On my first 2 months using it I can supply this negative experiences:

-the 360º scroll ball is much lighter than any other product on the market. It really makes any other mouse being a 'Flingstones' product. Ok that's the only thing good but...here the cons.

    - the 360º scroll ball stopped working, but no worries you solve it easily by turning your mouse over and scrolling the ball with 1 or 2 little hits on it. No wipe needing. It will make your scroll ball works again.

    - The secondary button (right one - touch sensitive) it does work, but sometimes when you want to press it the only you get is that the smart button works instead (left one), not the one on the right. I said "well, some practice will make I handle it well", but on my first 15 years using mac this is the worst tragedy, even far worse than the rounded mouse. It is not trustable at all.

    - The previous mouse I had (that came with my iMAC G5) worked very smooth over my pad, OK, this mouse had lot of problems when I tried to go to small details on my screen (ie Photoshop retouchings, etc) the pointer didn't go where I wanted, so here was the problem: "the pad", so I had to take my pad out and using the mouse straight over my desktop table (wood), it works good now but it still have some directions problems.

    - Its price, it doesn't definitely worth to buy it. Not value for money.

In this 2 months using it the only I wonder is: "Is this really an Apple product", "Who named it as "Mighty"???

No offense but instead of wasting money on this one I'd prefer to get a Micros... one, it looks like a 'Flingstones" scroll wheel (noisy and rough), BUT it is solid as rock, not like this little Mighty one!!, unstable and expensive.

Hope this review had been useful for you. Thanks for reading.

    Screwy Ball

    • Written by from Los Altos

About 4 months ago I purchased an IMac and it came with a wired Mighty Mouse. I started having the scroll down problem within a matter of days. Since I'd only had it for a short time I suspected that I had a connection problem rather than a dirt/grime problem. I found that simply pushing on the wire where it enters the mouse fixed the problem. The problem reoccurs every couple of weeks or so and so far pushing on the wire fixes it. I'm sure I'll end up replacing it before my warranty expires.

    Miserable little scroll ball!

    • Written by from Sayville

Loved this mouse when I 1st got it....but now I miss my old scroll wheel. This ball stops scrolling altogether - then it starts working again - then it only scrolls up - and I see no way to open & clean it. So now I'm shopping for a replacement but they're not cheap. Any suggestions?

Not as great as it sounds

    • Written by from Hanover Park

This is a great idea but needs further research. There is no visible distinction between the left and right button so many times I've had to click the very front edge of the mouse to register a right click. Side buttons and top scroll button work fine. Since it is a white glossy finish, it is bound to get dirty with "real world hands" as another reviewer put it. I usually clean it with a household cleaner once a week to keep it from looking grimy. Maybe the mouse should have been silver since my iMac that it came with is ALL silver/aluminum and a matte finish? Just a suggestion to Apple. This mouse is mostly useless for those that need to use with any digital media, graphic design or any content creation software. I'd go with a nice Logitech, Microsoft mice sometimes freak out even though they are claimed to work with Mac's.

Too Expensive for a Low Quality Mouse

    • Written by from San Diego

I usually love all things Apple but I have to say that I'm appalled with the Mighty Mouse. There's nothing "Mighty" about it. Besides looking good with your Mac, it's more or less $50 eye candy that will not last. I've used it for about two months at work (Brand New) and the scroll wheel is already broken. I am not the only user to experience this either. Several other co-workers have experienced the same problem and that's just unacceptable in general much less from an accessory this expensive. The buttons feel fine and it was good for the time I used it, but in the end, I would stay away from this mouse unless it came with your Mac. Even then, be sure to have a backup.

    good, but not tough enough

Our OEM mouse worked well, but wore out too quickly in our opinion. Not quickly enough to be covered under warranty, but not slow enough to be worth replacing.

Great mouse with a tragic flaw

    • Written by from Moorestown

The mouse is wonderful. It works great, it looks great, and I love the customization options.

It's absolutely absurd, however, that Apple didn't do something about the awful trackball that literally stops working every other day. I'm on my second Mighty Mouse (trackball actually broke on that one), and have to clean the trackball on this one every week. Even then, its ability to scroll down is dodgy.

I'd give it a 5-star review if it weren't for the horrible trackball.

    Didn't Hold Up

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

I like the design with it's few seams and innovative scroll ball. I liked it's function, while it did so, well.

However, i've only been using it a few months and it's operability has degraded quickly. Relatively early on i noticed delays when trying to bring up contextual menus with the right button, or failure to do so altogether. Sometimes i have to right-click more than once, or hold it down. Sometimes a right-click registers as a left-click unless i make sure to press far to the right from center.

Second to go was the ball. I've always liked having the 360° scroll capability, but the small tactile clicks of the ball have become irregular when attempting to scroll down, the most used direction. Any times when the click doesn't feel right, scrolling is erratic.

Time for a new mouse and i won't be getting another Mighty Mouse, corded or wireless. 4 stars when it's working, but 2 overall because it lasted such a short time.

    Incredible features, bad design.

    • Written by from Colorado Springs

I love using this mouse, but it drives me insane. The 360 scroll ball breaks so easily. It just stops working randomly. But, when it works, this mouse is very fun and helpful to use.
