    Bad mini display port?

I use a mini display to vga adapter to use a Proxima Projector. Only use it 2 time a year for watching movies outdoors. I was having problems with the proxima not connecting so bought another new adapter (both are apple brand). Had same problem with new adapter but it seems that the port may be bad because I can get it to connect by strategically adjusting the mini display cable "just right" in the port. Before you start messing with PRAM and the like, you may have a physical issue as I do...

bought two both did not work!

I have bought two of these in late november 2009. neither of them worked well when I plugged them in, if the screen was pixilated and flickered allot. I did a search on google and found that there was a firmware update in march 2009. It was on a third party site, no mention of it on the apple site. I ran it once and it did not recognise the adapter so I ran it 4 or five times, suddenly the adapter started working fine. I then bought another adapter and had to do the same process to get that to work. These adapters were bout from a flagship apple store, you would expect them to 1 update the firmware themselves and 2 make a patch that actually works properly then charge a reasonable price for these adapters. It's been nine months since the firmware update, I doubt an apple store keeps stock for 9 months, it's a total disgrace.

    Does absolutely nothing

I've tried everything from the official apple adapter to several knock-offs, nothing works. Apple even decided to hide the "detect display button (you have to press the right "option" button on keyboard to get it to pop up), but even then, still cannot detect any external displays. Just like the company, this product is absolute trash. This is the last time I try to troubleshoot stuff like this on their horribly designed, overly-expensive products. Goodbye forever, apple-trash.

    It Works

It works fine... it actually looks better on my tv than my computer. you just have to fix the display settings on the computer for your television and it will stretch accordingly

    VGA Adapter

I have now purchased 2 of these and neither one fits my computer. I have given the model number of my MacBook and have been assured it is the right product only to find it does not fit.

Doesn't work on my Sony TV

I got this cord to connect my 15'' mbp to my Sony LCD TV and when I did (with a double ended male VGA cable to plug into this cable and the TV) my desktop background was the only thing to show on the TV. When I opened apps on the mac and tried to watch a movie nothing other than the background showed on the TV.

However when I opened window's vista up with bootcamp everything appeared on the TV and I was able to watch movies just fine, so I think it might just be that Sony TVs are not mac compatible and from another customer's review, Samsungs aren't either.

Bottom line, if you're trying to hook a mac pro up to a TV, try something different.

fantastic product...you airheads need to learn your equipment

i've had my HP screen hooked into my MAC MINI for almost two years and i've never once had an issue. i even hooked the MINI up to my samsung 46" TV once...still no issues...for the love of god people...learn about your products before using them. this way you dont sway people towards or away from the wrong products. mac runs a different OS...thats obvious...what this means though, is that there WILL be certain compatibility issues. ALMOST always this can be corrected by just learning your product. the compatibility problem can easily be described as this: IF YOU HAVE A DEMOCRAT AND A REPUBLICAN ARGUING OVER THE REVISIONS OF A BILL BEFORE ITS PROPOSED, THIS IS YOUR COMPATIBILITY ISSUE. ONCE BOTH PARTIES HAVE LEARNED EACH OTHERS PRO'S AND CONS THEY CAN COME TO AN "AGREEMENT". THIS IS WHERE THE COMPATIBILITY ISSUES MAKE A "HAND SHAKE", AND WORK. Voila...you've now been educated...

    i keep losing it

The main problem with this object is that I keep losing it, rendering it useless for its intended task of altering the properties of things near to me. It may be useful to whoever finds it, but I can't vouch for that.

    MINI DVI. A WASTE

i am extremely dissappointed, PLEASE CHECK SPECIFICATIONS ON YOUR MAC BEFORE BUYING CABLES LIKE THESE.YOU WOULD THINK ALL MACS ARE BUILT THE SAME WAY UNTIL SOMETHING YOU HAVE WAITED FOR A WHOLE MONTH DOES NOT FIT. APPLE SHOULD SHOW SPECIFICATIONS, NOT JUST PICTURES..DO NOT BUY..DO NOT BUY
