    Perfect

The adapter works perfectly when connecting a 13" MacBook Pro to a Dell (or any non-Mac) external monitor. Great size to travel with as well.

    EEBKAC

Error exists between keyboard and chair. People give these products a bad review because they buy the wrong item, then say it doesn't work. This display port plug-in works perfectly with the products it is SUPPOSED to work for.

fantastic product...you airheads need to learn your equipment

i've had my HP screen hooked into my MAC MINI for almost two years and i've never once had an issue. i even hooked the MINI up to my samsung 46" TV once...still no issues...for the love of god people...learn about your products before using them. this way you dont sway people towards or away from the wrong products. mac runs a different OS...thats obvious...what this means though, is that there WILL be certain compatibility issues. ALMOST always this can be corrected by just learning your product. the compatibility problem can easily be described as this: IF YOU HAVE A DEMOCRAT AND A REPUBLICAN ARGUING OVER THE REVISIONS OF A BILL BEFORE ITS PROPOSED, THIS IS YOUR COMPATIBILITY ISSUE. ONCE BOTH PARTIES HAVE LEARNED EACH OTHERS PRO'S AND CONS THEY CAN COME TO AN "AGREEMENT". THIS IS WHERE THE COMPATIBILITY ISSUES MAKE A "HAND SHAKE", AND WORK. Voila...you've now been educated...

    it works just fine ...

Not sure why all these negative reviews about that adapter. For me it worked fine both on a projector or a large LCD TV. There's one tip to get it to work on a TV which is to buy male/male VGA cable ($7-8) to hoke it to the adapter on one side and the TV on the other side. I'm happy with purchase.

    Works great!

Bought it from the Apple store on Fifth Ave. Went in, asked for help with finding the product. The guy found it in a second and then I found out the line was huge (at least 30 mins waiting). He took out the Apple Store iPhone and swiped my credit card on it. It was awesome. Didn't have to wait on the big line, and the receipt was emailed to me on the spot.

I've used this a couple of times at college with the built in projectors and it works fine. I also connect a spare computer monitor and that works great too.

Will not allow rented HD movies to be played on external displays

I continually get an HDCP error stating my TV is non-compliant. I had none of these problems on my old mbp with the standard DVI out. This is unacceptable. I might as well continue illegally downloading movies in this case. Ever wonder why people do that? So they don't have to get on here and write bad reviews for something they spent hard earned money on that doesn't do what it's supposed to do. Guess it's back to the old BT sites...

Also, it will not allow me to mirror my display with my sharp TV like the last MBP. I end up with widescreen bars on the top and bottom and the only solution I've found it to disable mirroring.... you know, so I can watch my rented HD movies on my 15" screen and stare at my desktop on my 42" TV. Thanks so much apple. You rule.

    Excellent Adaptor

This is an excellent adaptor! I use it constantly! It's great because I'm in college and have to give lots of presentations that all require an adaptor to connect to the projectors.
I don't understand the problems other people have because I have never had any trouble at all.

Biggest piece of junk apple has released yet

    "It just works..."

No it doesn't just work, this plug despite the high price constantly fails and requires rebooting reconnecting and much browsing of forums to try and figure out solutions to the problems it creates. Fuzzy screen, constant drop outs of the signal, not recognising he signal, wont attach to lots of DVI cables or other devices, you need to buy different adapters for that, all at VERY high prices, great for apple's bottom line terrible for users of apple products.

Blurry Display from MacBook Air 11"

Well, I bought this one since my monitor had a DisplayPort and a VGA port. So, the only easy way to connect my MacBook Air 11" to the monitor was to use the Apple Mini DisplayPort to VGA Adapter. It turns out that often the screen becomes blurry and then comes back to normal. By often I mean every couple of minutes. It is very inconvenient when concentrating on something and your full 23" display goes blurry. I tried another monitor which had a DVI port and used the same MacBook Air. It worked fine. So, bottom line is that there is some issue either with the VGA Adapter or with the MacBook itself (though less likely) when using VGA. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are desperate and have no other alternative. As much as possible, go for DVI. Thanks.

    Works just fine

I use this to connect to the VGA port of my Asus back-lit LED monitor. It works great. (I'm not sure what other's are saying that it doesn't work.)

Absolutely unreliable, waste of money and time

I wanted to use my MBP for presentations but NONE of the displays, projectors or TVs which I tried to connect with this adapter could be detected without a reboot. So each time I connect a new display I have to restart with CMD+OPT+P+R buttons pressed to make it work. And if I disconnect it for a while then I need to restart again.

That's a real disappointment and this just adds to a bunch of reasons why I won't recommend my friends to buy a Mac. Apple products reliability is a total myth.

    Very disappointed

It was simply a waste of money. And a lot of money for a totally non-functional adapter.

This adapter does not work with any data projector or TV I have tried. All support I can get is "it should work". Well, it doesn't. Many people complain on the internet about this product not working and Apple still sells it. And charges so much!

    Resolution Limited!!

Like the DVI-D adapter, the maximum resolution on this adapter is limited. The max I could get was 1920 x 1200 at 60Hz on my TV (Similar to MiniDP to DVI complaints) and 1600 x 1200 at 60Hz on my monitor. Very annoying to run 75Hz on the Mac Pro and then have to dumb down to 60Hz for the MacBook Pro (2010) over my KVM.

Reports about the holes being too deep are valid as well. Had to apply a lot of pressure just to get 1/8th a turn in.

It also has exhibited some weird wavy interference randomly.

    LIMITED USEFULNESS

Before buying this adapter, I phoned the Salt Lake Apple Store to find out if this adapter about which so many critical comments had been posted, would work with PAGES, NUMBERS, and KEYNOTE. I was told it definitely worked with PAGES and NUMBERS, and PROBABLY with KEYNOTE since it worked with the other two. I purchased the adapter based on this information. It does not work on EITHER PAGES or NUMBERS, but DOES work on KEYNOTE.

    Worth the money

If your complaining over price WHY buy a MAC??? Anyway I purchased even though many people had complaints. Let me say it works perfectly with some adjustments.

First make sure you request the right cable.

Second update update update your OS.

Third if you don't understand multi display settings then take a class. They do offer them free you know!

Fourth Check your projector/TV to see what IT can support. You would be amazed what changing a resolution can do.

Doesn't work with Sharp Aquos TV

I bought this adapter expecting to be able to hook up laptop up to my 46" Sharp Aquos TV. Alas this is not the case. I did review the specs before purchasing but guess I got it wrong. Too bad, was looking forward to playing with this function.
