    Amazing Product

    • Written by from AURORA

After shopping for the perfect mouse, I've landed on the Magic Mouse. I tried a couple of high end logitech trackball and regular mice with tons of buttons. Even with 7+ buttons, they didn't come close to the functionality and ease of the Magic Mouse. No adapters hogging up my USB ports, not cables and an easy set up process. Plus a third party free download called Magic Prefs (available in the downloads section) allows you to set up way more options like tap and different swipes. I don't even have to click the mouse! I love it! Once again, Apple, well done!

    Great Mouse!!!

Just got it today, and have one thing to say to the people griping about no expose button, have you people ever heard of hot corners? that's what they're there for! another thing to you infidels out there, I've been called Mr. Bighands since I was 6, and have no problem with this mouse whatsoever, watch the vid and notice there is a certain way you are SUPPOSED TO HOLD IT! Apple, great product, I can't wait to see what you churn out next year!!!

    Awesome for ex PC users!

    • Written by from Miramar

I really missed the right click functionality that I got with a PC when I switched to Macs. With this mouse it lets you right click and has WAY better scrolling than the mighty mouse! The only thing I do advise is to turn the mouse off when not in use because it went through the first set of batteries in no time.

A worthy successor to the (not so) mighty mouse!

    • Written by from Clearwater

The touch surface is wonderful. No more sticky wheels or ball. The right click is 100% improved over the mighty mouse. AND it tracks on my fake woodgrain desktop without a mousing surface; the mighty mouse refused to work properly on it. I don't mind that the entire mouse does no cuddle my hand; no more sweaty palms. lol. One minor improvement in case Apple is listening, is to round the edges a bit on the touch surface. They are very squared and just ever slightly annoying after long bouts of mousing. Well done. It is an industry changing device!

    I love this mouse!

    • Written by from New York

I read the reviews here and on the Apple website before I bought this mouse, and they were so mixed. Ultimately, I decided to purchase it anyway and I'm glad I did. This has easily been the best mouse I've ever used. I'm using Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). I bought the mouse in mid-September, so I've been using it for about a month. I also want to state that since I read the reviews and knew about some of the problems, I immediately downloaded MagicPrefs before I even started using the mouse.

First of all, form factor. I don't really care how my mouse looks - I want it to work. However, I DO care about portability, and this mouse is super portable. I had a little Vera Bradley zip ID case (the Clip Zip ID) that I wasn't using, and I can slip the mouse in there easily and throw it in my bag. With Bluetooth there are no dongles to keep track of in the computer or outside, and I have found that the drain on my MacBook Pro isn't as bad as I thought it would be keeping the Bluetooth on all day. I still get about 5 or 6 hours out of my MacBook Pro (I can probably stretch it to 7 hours without the Bluetooth on all day).

As for comfort - holding this mouse does take some getting used to if you are used to resting your palm against a bigger/fatter mouse, but once I got used to it I have found that this mouse is not terribly uncomfortable and actually improves the position of my wrist greatly. I will say that I get fatigue with this mouse faster than with others - my fingers go stiff faster. However, that's after HOURS a day of usage.

I have had zero Bluetooth connectivity problems. This mouse has very smooth tracking. It comes on one of the lowest speed settings by default, so you can always turn up the speed, but personally the mid-level speed is fine for me.

The most magical thing about this mouse is the scrolling. The momentum scrolling is just great - it allows precise control of scroll down a page. I can flick and send my page spinning; I can scroll to an exact place. It's very smooth and honestly, this by itself makes the mouse worth it to me.

In the past I have found that Apple mice have very unsatisfying clicks since the entire thing depresses, but that's not the case with this mouse - it gives a satisfying click. I have my (regular) preferences set to secondary click, so I can use right click. I have had very few problems with the mouse recognizing the difference between a right click and a left click, and it's usually because I've used my right finger a little too far to the left.

I think that for most people the regular preferences out of the box are sufficient. With the regular preferences, you can enable secondary click (for a right click) and use the regular scrolling with one finger. If you double tap with your left finger, you can use "smart zoom," which will either zoom in farther or zoom out. I have found that to be jumpy and not all that smart, so I don't use it much. Swiping left or right with one finger allows you to swipe through pages within apps (or for example, I can swipe my Firefox tabs across the top of my window if I have too many tabs open to see in one window), and swiping left or right with two fingers allows you to swipe between apps. Double-tapping with two fingers brings up Mission Control. This works much more reliably than the smart zoom double-tap, for some reason. This, alone, is more than a traditional mouse would give you, so I think it's a bit absurd to say that the Magic Mouse is basically unusable out of the box.

So basically, I think any OS X user who wants smooth tracking and a variety of options in their mouse would do well to take a look at this one!

magic mouse is excellent except for a pinch

    • Written by from Edmonton

The magic mouse is awesome, it really is a different experience, something between a touchpad and a mouse, I use both features extensively. It seems I keep recharging the batteries, but that is not an issue as these are standard AAA rechargeable batteries (I am using the Apple charger and batteries with no issue).
The only thing is, since I constantly use this mouse (i.e. more than 8 hrs/day), after a while my skin gets pinched between the top layer and bottom one. I have added a tape to help reduce the pinch burn. I still highly recommend this mouse.

    Amazing Mouse!

    • Written by from Highland Park

I got a new Mac in May and it came with this 'Magic Mouse". I was wondering why it was called Magic Mouse. When I first tried it out I was amazed at what it can do. This mouse works great with OS X Lion.

Apple has designed a great mouse!

There's a reason it's called the 'magic' mouse...

    • Written by from Tewkesbury

After reading some mixed reviews about this mouse, my hopes were slightly lowered about just how good it was.
When it arrived, the design was beautiful - but when I took it out the casing it got even better. Unlike some people are saying, it is very ergonomic, it's easy to rest your hand on without accidentally clicking the mouse, and the other great thing is its low profile, sleek appearance.
But none of that really compares to the experience of actually using it. the glass surface is easy to swipe your fingers across, the multi-touch technology is a real plus and the scrolling (with its "momentum" in particular) is a joy to use.
To round up, it may seem expensive, but only when you buy it will you realise that it's well worth the money!

    The Wonders of Mouse-ry

    • Written by from Edmonton

This mouse has done wonders for increasing my productivity and interaction with the programs I use on a regular basis (iPhoto, Logic, etc.).

By using the momentum function, I can scroll through images in speedy manner in iPhoto and Logic Express. This speeds up editing tremendously.

Also, to be able to 'zoom' in and out with a flick of the finger is an amazing feature.

I highly recommend this product to anyone needing to navigate in a quick manner. Yes, it takes a bit of time to get used to the sensitivies of the mouse. However, in two weeks time, you won't go back to a scroll wheel mouse because of that sensitivity and speed.

    A fine product worthy of your valuable time . . . .

    The Apple MAGIC Lives On

    • Written by from BALTIMORE

I know that some have written reviews stating that they are not in favor of the new Magic Mouse, which is okay. That only means that this great technology is not for them.

I think this mouse is the greatest ever created. While I do love my Mighty Mouse, the Magic truly has me under its spell. The features work just as stated and it's so easy to use. Great job on the sleek design that fits so perfectly in the palm of your hand. I think that the zoom feature is the best enhancement on this mouse. However, I am a little disappointed that Apple did not add buttons for Cascading or using Expose. I think those were very important features on the Mighty Mouse that we will miss. I'm sure that they'll add them back in the next design upgrade.

Awesome job, Apple. You sure know how to keep us engaged in your products.

My first review after using 2.5 days

    • Written by from Halifax

I have been using this mouse for 2.5 days, 8 hours heavy use per day. Now it shows me 97% which is good.
It is little small in terms of height but length and width are good even for little bigger hands. I feel something is missing under my palm and there is not place to rest your thumb.

Not sure if it is only my problem or any one else's but some times it tries to switch between full screen applications when I want a simple switch between web pages in Safari.

I know with two finger swipe, it switches between full screen apps ad once my palm is on top of the mouse, it treats as a 1-fnger then when I try to swipe with my index finger, it takes the whole as a 2-finger swipe.
The 1-finger scrolling is good but in some cases, you have to click on a window then scroll. Keep in mind that the window is already active and is in front.
For example, after I finish writing this, I want to click on the stars above to rate it but it didn work. I had to click somewhere else then back to the starts

I am going to user for another week or two then I will have a better idea.
I highly recommend this mouse to all Apple fans.

    Great But...

    • Written by from goshen

I love this mouse very much. Its slick, its got smooth gestures, and looks great. But its not good for gaming for the simple reason that it doesn't have a very good right click.
    Dear Apple,

Please make a slick white mouse (like the magic mouse) with two separate buttons being the right and left click. you would be doing many people a huge favor. Thanks

This is my first ever wireless mouse. I use this with my macbook pro and it works perfect! but to gain its full functionality you must download MagicPrefs, it allows you to take full control of you mouse, and being a first time user, I must say i love this product and you will get used to the form factor in about a few hours of use

    Awesome Mouse

    • Written by from Yonkers

My magic mouse arrived today. Just made a few adjustments and it's perfect. No missing buttons, I downloaded MagicPrefs and now have the same functionality as the mighty mouse.

No more having to worry about cleaning the trackball because it stops scrolling. Scrolling with this mouse is great. I love the momentum scrolling.

Like I said, with the download of MagicPref I have not lost any buttons. They use a 3 and 4 finger click for dashboard or expose, all custumizeable. You can set it up to tap like the iPhone, theres like 6 tapping configurations I believe. Just google MagicPref. So many choices, too many to list.

It's only been a day, but I really like this mouse so far.

    • Written by from KEESEVILLE

This is the best mouse I've ever owned. It functions flawlessly, and there's no risk of the scrolling ball to cease function because it's done with gesture (my biggest qualm with the Mighty Mouse). It's like having the versatility of my Macbook Air touchpad with my iMac-something I craved for so long!

    Love, love, love it! ♥

    Unbelievable but, 1 issue.

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

It is by far the best mouse I have ever used. It works on almost all surfaces. The only issue I found is the sharp edges of the clear glass on the sides. I use it all day long and the edge is pretty sharp and gets sore after long periods of use. I am going to see if there is a way to smooth that edge down. Other than that, phenomenal!

The mouse is very quick and responsive ..... And it can do more than any mouse I've ever owned .... Even have one for my MacAir ..... Best $69 spent ....

As for batteries, I use rechargeable and yes it goes thru them faster than my old mouse, but it does more too .... Not an issue ..... Much smarter mouse!
