    Functionally amazing, Ergonomically terrible.

    • Written by from Saint Charles

First off, I love how this mouse functions, I don't seem to have been plagued with the connectivity issues so many others are having. That said, I can't fathom why this hasn't been refreshed with better ergonomics, because this mouse is far too flat to use for more than five minutes. I always find my hand cramping up from trying to contort it to fit the mouse. Luckily another is finally coming, but the wait has been far,far too long.

Ever since jobs died apple has went down in flames

    • Written by from Chappaqua

Dear apple to start off this review I just want to say that whatever you are doing is not working and people are not buying it anymore. You have a very poor business model, try to shoot for something like that of google.

Anyways on to the review! As a long standing apple customer it is sad to see that your accesories don't get the same attention as and other products don't get the same attention as things such as the iPhone. With that being said they are all in need of a much wanted refresh with better design, technology, and quality control involved. your magic mouse seems to suffer mainly suffers in the areas that involve connectivity quality and design. the magic mouse suffers in design because the ergonomics are so terribly poor. As a well known technology review once said, "that's why the Magic Mouse is the spawn of Satan..." this is the magic mouses biggest problem. the next is quality. This is my second magic mouse, the first one had to be sent back because its touch sensitive areas were not functional. Lastly the connectivity. UGH the bluetooth technology in these mouses has to be updated in order for it to be 100% reliable. I am currently using a logitech mouse that is the exact same price on amazon that is worth every penny. Even myself, the regular high school student can see the faults and with all this said it's clear to see that it is not worth it to use this mouse with your laptop (because it is not included in the price) and to only use it with your desktop for a short period until you can get a better mouse at somewhere like staples for a couple of bucks.

    The good and the bad

    • Written by from Paintsville

When I purchased my MAC in January, I debated on the magic mouse or the track pad. I chose the mouse. I wish I had chosen the track pad. Although the features of the mouse make it very comfortable and easy to use, I constantly have to pick the mouse up and start again when doing things. For instance, If I am navigating on a web page most of the time its fine, until I want to open a new page or exit out and want to navigate on the desktop. Its almost like the range of the mouse isn't quiet up to the size of the screen. I hope this is making sense. If i had a larger surface to maneuver the mouse on I suppose it would be fine. However, if you are trying to navigate with the mouse on a mouse pad, forget it. you will get frustrated. Im switching to the track pad.

Great in Some Respects but Expect Frequent Disconnects

    • Written by from Lincolnshire

I've owned this mouse for several years and basically I like the bluetooth aspect because it frees up a USB port on my Macbook Air 2012. I like how I can move from OS X space to the next and back with a two-finger swipe. But there's a downside too.

The downside is that the mouse disconnects and you'll get the "Connection Lost" message in the center of your screen. While the message automatically goes away, you have to click and/or double-click to restore the connection. This happens multiple times per day. The reflex is part of my nervous system now, but it's always accompanied by some frustration with the mouse. Surely Apple can do better.

    Tracking can be inconsistent

    • Written by from Houston

When it works, this is the best mouse on earth — it is small and functions both as a mouse and a track pad. However from time to time it hesitates as it tracks making it very annoying to point at a small object on the screen. Do a search on line as this is a common problem. I even found two of the mice in an Apple Store to have the same problem.

    Great But Terrible Battery Life

    • Written by from Roy

The Magic Mouse is awesome so long as you're using the Magic Prefs app and don't mind constantly swapping batteries. I ended up purchasing the Mobee wireless charging system to offset the constant need to replace the two AA batteries every month

    eats batteries

    • Written by from strongsville

I love the features of this mouse but I'm changing batteries every two weeks! I wish apple would make a magic mouse that had a cord. The only reason I bought one of these was because I was sick of cleaning the track ball on the normal mouse.

Otherwise I love this mouse the scrolling is a little slower than the older mouse but not bad.

Please lets go green and make a magic mouse that is corded

It works well enough, but uses 4 times more batteries than my old Logitech. Also, the battery cover/plate pops off easily.

The mouse once connected works great! But bluetooth connection is really poor, it takes way too long to connect and sometimes you have to click coupe of times to connect to my Mac Pro!

Geek factor is through the roof. There's no doubt this mouse is cool. The bigger issue is getting through the day without feeling like I put my hand into a blender. A nearby Logitech m705 is my "gotta get stuff done" mouse.

    Works as advertised, but..

    • Written by from Chula Vista

The mouse works as advertised. The multi-touch gestures are great on a mouse. The problem is the actual size and shape of the mouse. My previous wireless mouse was raised to fit perfectly in the palm of your hand as you hold the mouse. The Apple Magic Mouse is very low and can start to feel uncomfortable after a while because of its almost-flat design. Yes it looks innovative and futuristic, but I suggest you check it out at the store to see if the size is right for you.

    Love this mouse, but.....

    • Written by from Manassas

I love the Apple Magic Mouse but it has a significant problem that I cannot overcome in spite of significant research. When I started using the Google Chrome web browser, which I love for it's speed and minimalist approach, the Apple mouse kept going back to the previous page when I was scrolling on a 27" iMac Retina. I could not get other mice to replicate this problem so I had to conclude it was the Apple mouse. Finally, I gave up and started using a wired Kensington trackball Expert Mouse which took care of business. I would prefer the Apple mouse but it was driving me crazy. Unhappy since I was using two of the Apples with a recharger. I even tried the long shot of using batteries but that didn't work either. If anyone has any ideas or solutions, I would be gratified to hear of them.

    Good mouse.

    • Written by from Toronto

The mouse is sleek & Cool. Quite responsive. My beefs are: you always get it upside down, cause it is same on both ends. Most kids would seem to have trouble maneuvering it due to Large sizet.. One star is gone for quite expensive cost

Good, but could be better for the price

    • Written by from Mamaroneck

Unlike what other people are saying, this mouse works great for me. I don't have connection issues, the battery life is good, however, my only problem (which is arguably the most important) is how uncomfortable the feel of the mouse is. I'm really depressed, because I do love the mouse and it's features, but it's sharp edges bother my fingers after a while. I'll give it a 3/5 because I've only had it for a week and I'm getting a new mouse.

Awesome but with very short life use

    • Written by from Naranjito

It is a smooth and incredible mouse. I have had three of them, but it does not because I like too much it because it suddenly stop working and need to be replaced (if it is in warranty period). Design and functionality 5 stars, short life use 1 star, so I give it three stars.

Good mouse, but lacks functions, easy to scratch and eats batteries

    • Written by from Richmond

This mouse is good and was included with my iMac. however it lacks many useful gestures that the trackpad enables and also dies very fast (at least the battery is always lower when comparing to my keyboard in how much they each decreased to). However since the mouse is used more frequently and works harder than the keyboard I think it's probably my fault… but my friend didn't complain of this problem with his. The previous owner of the mouse's girlfriend (used machine) also scratched the plastic surface with a ring. That needs some improvement too…
