    Pretty Cool

Clever gadget, just really thin, even for small hands. Very useful otherwise, no complaints so far.

    Great Amazing Product!

    • Written by from Port Moody

I love it!!! Not only is it very good looking, but it works like magic. Even if you cover it with your hand and point it in the other direction it will still work! The batteries work for a entire year even with daily use. I also have downloaded "Sofa Control" which makes the remote even better by being able to control the mouse and do other really useful features. Overall I think that the remote could use the iPod's click-wheel technology but other than that it is an extraordinary Apple product.

This item isn't what you want to buy for your Ipod because with the Remote you also have to buy the dock which costs over 40 $ + 19 $ remote !!!
Personally I thought this was a "rip off".
Otherwise I really enjoy my Ipod Touch and Love Apple Inc.

    Use Front Row for Navigation

For those who wish to navigate the playlists and such in their iTunes and Movies folders, try using Front Row. It is very handy.

    only half way there.

    • Written by from Seattle

so, upon seeing this thing hanging on the wall at the apple store, i thought to myself, "cool, remote control of itunes and movies. yet upon opening the sleek little remote, with batteries included, i realized what i had expected was not what this thing was.because this thing looks like an ipod, i has to be not only the least intuitive tool in Apples belt, it is also therefor the most deceptive. i was hoping that I would be about to scroll through my songs, etc with the black circle-thingy. nope. up/down control volume. and left/right switches from song to song ONLY. you can't navigate your various levels of song, albums, playlists from a distance. and the darn thing has a predisposition with Front Row, which i've never had to use, ever. it has a whole different interface than itunes and confuses me.
i'd say Apple should make something which looks like another product OPERATE like that product; a remote that operates like an ipod, letting you navigate the whole of your itunes from a distance only seems intuitive, right?

    nice remote

    • Written by from hyannis

well, for those who are wondering if works with the universal dock station from apple,it does!but,be aware, there is not even a single difference, when you compare it with the original that comes with the universal dock,it doesn`t offer anything new,,it`s stylish, and it`s made from a new material,i liked ,it`s beautiful,i first bought it thinking i`d be able to do more with it,you still have to pick your playlist,or select you media from the menu and then you can use the remote to play ,pause, and go to the next song, with the universal dock that`s all you really do withit, just don`t understand why, there is a menu option,if doesn`t work

Does not work with MacBook Air

    • Written by from Kensington

Ok, so the whole point of buying this was to use as a remote control while giving powerpoint talks from my MacBook Air. The man in the Applestore (San Francisco) assured me it would work with any mac, including air.
As soon as I tried it I realised it activated my i-mac, but not my Air. No IR port.
The salesperson should have known this.....

If you have the new macbook do not buy. I does not work with it as the new macbook does not have infared so the remote will not connect with it.

    this is great

    • Written by from Aberdeen

this is a great piece of conveniency to use to say if you are having mates round and dont exactly want to get up all the time to change the music. it works in every direction i find and when you change track your mac doesn't put itunes upfront in front of other things you might have open. I think it is great and i'd recommend it to anyone

Smart move on Apple's part. This product is awesome, both functionality wise and design wise. I love the fact that Apple has changed the design to match the rest of their products. Another plus, it costs the same as the previous version.

I heard that the IR receiver needed to be directly pointed to in order for it to work but when I got it I found that no matter where the remote was or which direction it was facing, it still changed the slide/song. It makes things a little bit simpler but much more productive. Its fun and cool to use.

    need improvement but great!

    • Written by from Chesterfield

This is really convenient and great, however you have to aim the remote right at the macbook in order for it to work. You can't go too far either. It would be nice to add the laser pointer to this as well.

    Sleek and ipod like

    • Written by from North Port

For some reason the menu button is indented. It works great with Frontrow and slideshows in powerpoint and keynote, and it works well with Itunes. Great, solid product but people always ask me what I'm doing with my ipod during a presentation :)

    Most Amazing Remote Ever!!

if your a computer nerd, you can even get this thing to work with other things too. I know a 'friend ', you might say, but he was able to take the IR port and put it into other devices, i can use this thing on my apple TV, not only that but i got it to work with my projector and my HP. But not for very long, because mixing apple/mac/OS X with other operating systems is just wrong. So i took it out of my hp, and never dared to put in there again. But it was fun to figure out how to do it!

The Remote is possibly the most useless product imaginable. The idea is to adjust music or movies from anywhere in the room, and this is completely possible - provided that the room is no larger than 4 square feet. The Remote does not cause any reaction from the Mac when it is more than arm's length away. Honestly, it is less effort to stand up and adjust your music manually than it is to struggle to get this little piece of electronic ingenuity to serve its function. I may sound like a bitter buyer exaggerating to spite Apple, but I am not exaggerating (though the rest is true). The Remote functions perfectly, but only if you point it DIRECTLY at the receiver on the Mac (and by "DIRECTLY", I mean you have about 20° range to work with to aim your remote relative to the receiver, otherwise the signal won't make it). Please, whatever you do, don't buy this. Your twenty dollars are better off feeding the homeless, or buying yourself drugs. Take my word.

    Looks good with a MBP

    • Written by from Tampa

Looks good as it matches the color of the MBP. really professional look for Powerpoint and Keynote presentations. Pity they made something so sleek and didn't think to integrate a laser pointer however, or at least a second model with a laser inside.
