    Great Mouse Replacement.

I was skeptical about this product at first. Now after using it...I will never go back to using a traditional mouse again.

    This thing rocks!

    • Written by from Beaver Dam

I finally pried open my wallet to get the trackpad and it was soooo worth it!! It works so much better than the magic mouse ever did. Totally easy to set up and use. It took me about 10 seconds to get used to using it. Buy this product - you won't regret it.

Remember to look at your settings and gestures!

    • Written by from Berrien Springs

Understanding how to actually use your Magic Trackpad can make a load of difference.

For one, reading from some of the reviews, some have a hard time understanding highlighting or dragging windows around. Remember to use 3 fingers to do this. Want to highlight text? Easy, just swipe the mouse over the text you want to highlight using 3 fingers and it selects it while you're swiping. No "clicking" is involved. Also, want to drag a window, same thing, drag using 3 fingers. Again, no having to 'click and hold down' while doing this.

Reset some of your options in the system prefs for when you tap two fingers, it's the same as a right-click on a mouse and it brings up the contextual menu. Scroll using two fingers....much easier than a mouse-wheel in my opinion. There still isn't a good way to "middle" that I can find. They need to put an option to where 3 finger tap is a middle click. That would work.

    Fantastic, who needs a mouse?

    • Written by from Pto Pollensa

This wonderful invention came to my attention while trying to decide which mouse to buy. After reading the reviews of all, I decided to give it a try along with the keyboard with a numeric pad. I love it !!!! This has to help dramatically with over use injuries for those of us who work on computers all day everyday. After many years of using computers I now have problems with my Mouse hand, arm and neck. The track pad seemed to be a logical solution and I am sure, after having used it for a day, that it will be.

It took me a few moments and a little reading to find what was needed to achieve the same things you can with a mouse and I have not looked back. Tapping two relaxed fingers instead of a right click for example. This is a much better hand placement than gripping a mouse and trying to move your middle finger while the hand is in an un-natural position. With the track pad, the hand is relaxed, open and you do not need to rest the wrist on the desk, hindering blood flow.

As with each product Mac, I know I will never look back.

    Non tech solution

    • Written by from Long Beach

I bought my Magic Track Pad yesterday and have been really impressed with it. I have arthritis and the mouse was becoming a problem. It took a little while to get used to and I am still in the learning mode. There were many comments about the slant and several solutions in the reviews. I tried turning it around and still was not right for me. I put a paper pad (my 6' x4" new post-it pad sacrificed for the cause) just slightly larger then the trackpad underneath it to level it off. I put my bean bag wrist support next to it at the bottom and I am good to go. I had already been using my wireless keypad that way - so it was level so not surprising I would prefer that position. I think this position also makes the push down clicking easier. For people with hand issues these little adjustments can make a difference.

    Very good

    • Written by from Alexandria

So much more precise than a mouse and it also really compliments the Apple keyboard with numeric keypad available for iMac. Mine works either in front or behind the display for up to several feet; the bluetooth makes for many options. If you're not a savvy user of trackpads (such as with a laptop), it's probably not meant for you to have magic trackpad. Many of the bad reviews on here appear to be written by users who weren't previously trackpad users. If that applies to you, get a wired mouse. If you're like me and love the more technologically-savvy option, get the magic trackpad; it's awesome!

Apple should default the option to switch the wrist angle...

    • Written by from CALGARY

I purchased the M Tp yesterday and quickly noted that the wrist angle was going to be an ergonomic issue. Then I noticed the below suggestion from another reviewer that enables you to easily change the orientation (& therefore wrist angle) when using the M Tp!

A big thanks to the reviewer "CT from San Francisco" who shared it!! The M Tp would have been returned had I not seen this...

Some have complained about the slant angle, but there is a hidden default that lets you invert or flip it as needed. Enter this command in Terminal (will prompt for root password), then restart your Mac or reconnect the Magic Trackpad:

sudo defaults write com.apple.MultitouchSupport ForceAutoOrientation YES

Now place the Magic Trackpad in desired orientation on your desk and drop all 5 fingers on it (outstretched towards the edges not scrunched up). The coordinates of the trackpad automatically flip so all cursor and gesture motions match the new hand orientation.

I just put this in front of my computer and started using it. After a day I put the mouse and trackball away. I use logic 9 quite a bit and I find this works well. No issues. As far as battery life, I didn't even realize this thing took a battery! I've had no power issues at all and it's been a couple of months.

    Perfect upgrade!

    • Written by from Milwaukee

I still use a Macbook 2007 so the last model before the multitouch track pads came out. This has been a great addition along with my wireless keyboard and finally gives me versatility on my mac.

Great to use when my Macbook is hooked up to the TV as well, just turn on the tap to click functions in my mouse preferences and then I am good to go. No more sitting just feet from the TV if I need to use the mouse!

Excellent solution to those awful mice

    • Written by from San Diego

I have a MBP and it's trackpad is absolutely the best. I just set up an HD monitor and did not want to use a mouse - triple hate using a mouse. The Magic Trackpad is the answer I was looking for. It mimics the MBP trackpad exactly, making my transition to a wireless keyboard flawless. No mouse, no fuss.
Reviewers saying it is too sensitive are nuts. If anything, it's a little less sensitive than the MBP pad. It's perfect. Extremely well done, Apple. 10 stars.

Thank you for creating this trackpad, Apple folks.

    It works for me.

Really accurate, easy to use, also my fingers and wrist are pain-free when I use it.

You can do everything you do with mouse, with comfort. It's faster than mouse.

    Good job.

    Really tired of mouse

    • Written by from Tampa

I'm biased I guess? There seem to be a few quirks with this, but I might just need to tweak the settings, there's a lot of them! I like being able to use up to 4 fingers for various functions, and most of all I like getting rid of the mouse. Moving the mouse all over the desktop, it just gets old, this is a welcome new paradigm. So I'm in the honeymoon phase, take this review with a grain of salt, maybe check back in a couple weeks or months. But so far between this and apple's wireless keyboard and my iMac, my computer setup is looking really sexy! (that's what it's all about right?) But seriously, it's silky smooth, no moving parts. I do like aesthetics, and it really scores in the department, but I like functionality too, and I think it scores there as well. Plenty of gestures that are not hard to master.

    Great addition

    • Written by from Lake bluff

This product gets 5 stars first for simply providing the alternative to a mouse that has been much needed.

I combined this with the wireless keyboard so my MBPro could sit up on a stand on my desk for times when i'm stationary and don't want to be hunched over the laptop for hours on end. The two of these products make it so much more comfortable to work at my desk not to mention the Trackpad is larger than the standard MB pads which is certainly a plus.

All in all, this is by no means a necessity but depending on one's setup it can certainly improve the general flow. Plus it was beyond easy to set up right out of the box...like all good Apple products.

I absolutely love my Magic Trackpad. I never use my Mighty Mouse anymore.

There's just so much practical and intuitive functionality built in - it's just an amazing tool. Leave to Apple..

If you're considering getting one, you shouldn't worry.
