    not durable. design flaw.

    • Written by from Loveland

The trackpad has plastic pieces in the bottom that provide the force for the clicking action. These pieces came off from my trackpad rendering it useless. If you can't click... Well you get the point.
I went to my local store in Cincinnati and was told I would need to buy a new one. You would think It would be a simple fix but they way these have been designed prevent that. Mine was out of warranty but I would expect these to be better made and last more than 2 years.
Maybe mine was a lemon but Apple did not offer to fix it. A blemish on their record that makes me think twice about their accessories and the company standing behind their design choices.

    Don't wait...get the Magic Trackpad

I'm a management consultant and purchased the trackpad today...very impressed. I totally understand the reviews and how fast I ditched my magic mouse; probably will never pick it up again. Would love to see the force touch trackpad

Excellent Accessory for my Mid-2104 MacBook Pro 15' Retina

    • Written by from Massapequa

I have used Apple's Magic Mouse since I purchased my MacBook Pro (8 months ago) and it never felt quite right. The Magic Mouse has a very rough feel to it when moving the mouse around on any surface and I could never get use to the feel of it in my hand. So, I was in the Apple Store and played around with the Magic Trackpad for a while. To my surprise, it felt right, worked perfectly, and was a nice size. Once I brought it home and started using it with my MacBook Pro, I immediately thought to myself this item totally blows away the Magic Mouse in every way and this is the future and the eventual demise of the Magic Mouse. I have it for a few weeks now and I HAVE NOT found any of the problems posted here. I have never lost a connection though Blue Tooth, I am not bothered in any way by the positioning of my hand (as others have stated here), the Batteries are lasting a long time (I use the laptop with the Magic Trackpad for 4-6 hours per day for a few weeks) without draining themselves dry (the batteries are currently at 47%), and the Rubber Feet most people are complaining about falling off are perfectly fine. The Gestures are perfect with todays Mac Technology and Software and the gestures are not hard to learn. I am overall extremely happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it to anyone using a 2014 MacBook Pro or newer. It is great having your arm to the side of the laptop instead of in the middle of it. It feels much more natural this way.
BTW Once you master all the Gestures, you will find this to be an invaluable accessory and a big time saver. Five Stars for this item.

    Loving this trackpad!

    • Written by from Brooksville

Picked this up over the weekend at the  store after reading the reviews here and glad I did. There are a few games I like to play on my rMBP and this trackpad makes it easier than using a mouse. It also makes browsing better due to the large size and ability to place it just about anywhere I want. It is very responsive, requiring very light tapping to click. Pairing was simple and fast and it looks very classy. It's a bit pricy but well worth it IMHO.

    Beautiful Tool!

    • Written by from Sellersburg

I purchased this knowing exactly how neat it was and all the different functionalities. But when I unboxed it... it was so much more! The glass is so smooth with my fingers and everything works in unison. With a few taps, I had my trackpad set up to where I never need to press the trackpad button, just tap it! It feels so futuristic and so responsive, I doubt I will ever go back to using a mouse. Works with my Mac mini perfectly. Works with OS X perfectly. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an alternative to a mouse!

    Sleek and Convenient

    • Written by from Conyers

Works like a charm! It is very convenient not to have any chords to worry about. The build is solid, and it feels great. Very easy to use. You don't have to worry about moving a mouse and running out of room.

Great product. But on/off button too exposed

    • Written by from St remy blanzy

The trackpad is beautiful and wonderful. I use it with my MacBook Pro when I'm working in cafes. But as soon as I stuff it in my backpack it tends to turn on on its own. So when I throw and turn on my laptop on the bed, I have to fetch the trackpad in my backpack to turn it off again... because the macbook still thinks it should link to it since it's on!

    Good functionality but terrible ergonomics

    • Written by from New York

I have a new iMac that's less than a month old. I ordered it with a Magic Trackpad instead of the Magic Mouse and although I initially liked the trackpad, I have developed wrist pain from the odd angle at which one must hold the hand (the hand has to be tilted up vs. the forearm in an unnatural angle in order to use the trackpad). I hope I can exchange this for a Magic Mouse; otherwise, I'm going to be out another $69 to buy a Magic Mouse outright.

Works just like the track pad on my macbook. All the gestures are supported, way better than the magic mouse.

Almost 5 years and no complaints!

    • Written by from Chesterton

I purchased this back in '11 and have had no problems whatsoever. If you use your mouse a lot (editing in Logic, etc), then a track pad is definitely worth owning. It allows you to set different preferences regarding work flow, and it helps a lot that it is angled. Replacing the batteries is not a hassle at all. I recommend this product for any MAC user that is tired of dragging a mouse around!

    It is magical

    • Written by from Sahuarita

I have always loved the trackpad of my macbook, so when i bought my 4K monitor to get as close to retina as possible with an external monitor, I told myself, let me try the external trackpad. I am getting tired of using a mouse on the desktop.

Well, I received it yesterday, put the batteries in, turn it on, and voilà! It works like magic!

    great for arthritis !!!!!!!!!!

    • Written by from fleetwood

HI , iam partly disabled and also have fibromyalgia !!! i find the track pad very easy to use , I've never had any problem with it , i find being able to lightly drag my finger over it much more better than a mouse , and less painful , i also have the wireless keyboard and also with this I've had no issues ,the only problem is its made from a metal that I'm allergic to ,but I've solved this problem by putting it inside a clear thin plastic A4 paper holder and taped it up so it protects my allergy with the metal ,and works great , so as for the batteries , i don't have the problems like others report of full batteries going flat very fast nor do i have any problems with opening the cover ,so if you have arthritis ,i recommend this product , much less pain , THANKS APPLE

having to manually shut off wireless to save battery not convenient.

    • Written by from Toronto

I've either missed an update to save power on battery life for the wireless consoles or, I believe they urgently need an improved update. I've been using a wireless keyboard and trackpad with my Macbook Pro close to two years now, and have no complaints about their versatility, but there's really no comparison with the longevity of it's battery life when manually switching off the device with the button located on it's sides or letting your wireless shut down automatically after a certain time of inactivity. I know on this forum its mentioned the wireless update for these mentioned products should already save power automatically but am failing to see the end results, that is why I said I might have missed an update.

Don't let any bad review fool you. You won't look back!

    • Written by from Wandana Heights

Okay, once you decide you want one of these and once you've stopped thinking about the price. GET IT. I've had mine for 4 years and its still perfect. There are some reviews that might mislead you to think it doesn't pair properly or the battery drains quick. Neither is true and is mostly likely related to their technical understanding of the technology. The batteries only need replacing every 4 months or so... I honestly can never remember how often since its usually a long time between renewals. I don't even use expensive or fancy brands. Just cheap batteries, its perfect. Also for those who didn't realise - you can actually even switch to just 'tapping' instead of clicking on a trackpad like on a laptop (or MacBook)... meaning you don't even need to worry about clicking! just tap!. Its makes my usage of navigating my screen so much quicker. Its less mess than a mouse too, its prettier and having the ability to expand and double tap to expand things makes every so much easier. Just get one already. Please, for your own sake. Just do it.

    Makes life so easy!

I love this piece! I am a fashion designer and music producer DJ. This combined with the bluetooth keyboard make a killer difference in my home studio and pro studio. Assigned Tap to Click and life is just a breeze. I hook up my MacBook Pro to a projector and in group sessions I can fly around the screen and edit so easily.

Skeptical because of bad reviews but very impressed

    • Written by from LONG BEACH

I had read some nasty reviews about the Magic Trackpad but decided to give it a try anyway. It works great and is very comfortable to use. I also purchased the Apple Rechargeable Batteries (awesome purchase as well) because I read that the Magic Trackpad drains down batteries like crazy. So far I have been using it for 2 weeks and it still shows over 85% battery life. At this rate, the two batteries inside it should last about 12 weeks before being changed which is more than acceptable.

How did I get along without it?

    • Written by from Seattle

Today I bought an Apple Magic Trackpad. I had been using an HP mouse and it works great, but the Magic Trackpad is so much better! I'll have to get accustomed to the various gestures, there's a bunch of them, but this thing is so much more integrated into OS X and makes everything so much easier. Thank you, Apple!

    Less intense for the hand

    • Written by from Auckland

I bought this to replace a mouse because of RSI issues. It's not an end all, but it's so much more natural for my hand to use a trackpad than a mouse! I find it much softer, and much more comfortable. It looks great, and I love the bluetooth wireless nature of it. Hookup is impossibly easy. Also I if I'm reading documents etc I can just pick it up, but it on my lap and scroll from there. I hesitated with the $102 CAD price tag after tax, but it's absolutely worth it.
