It's very cute and all but has a very short life expectancy. Make sure absolutely nothing on your desk can fall on it as it's made of thin glass. For me this ended up with a bloody hand.

Nicely made but again Bluetooth is weak.

    • Written by from Erinsville

I bought this from a reseller to use on my Home Theatre 2014 Mac Mini. It paired just fine but lags and disconnects every time I go to use it. I'm only using it 12 feet from the Mini but it's so awful and frustrating it's useless. A true wireless version would be better. Bluetooth has NEVER been much good unless you're sitting on top of the unit you want to control .

Not a great product - Connectivity and Pairing Problems

    • Written by from Los Angeles

These things are great when they work, but they fail to inspire much confidence in their continued functionality. Unlike Apple's other bluetooth products, these are prone to periodic loss of connection, and worse, an unwillingness to pair at all. I've had connection failures and pairing failures on a variety of Apple and non-Apple systems on two separate Magic Trackpads. I had two because I wanted one for the office, and wanted to give these another shot since they are so nice to use when they actually function properly. But in the end, these things don't stay reliably connected, even when software is consistently updated and there is relatively little interference from other devices. After a recent pairing failure to a new Macbook Pro (and a thorough survey of Apple knowledge databases in an effort to solve the problem), I got rid of the second one, and definitely won't be wasting any more time, patience, or money on this product.

DO NOT BUY - Batteries get stucked

    • Written by from Wan Chai

This trackpad is great when it is working.

IF the batteries were corroded while sitting inside, the battery door became next to impossible to open. In my case, this happens while the batteries are still good and the trackpad is still working normally. I simply could not open the door without knowing what's really gone wrong inside.

I knew one other case that this same situation happened when the original Energizer batteries were still inside. $70 for a one-time trackpad with such a design flaw is just insane.

I got a magic trackpad and wireless keyboard for Christmas (6 months ago) and for the first week both devices were working fine then the batteries started draining very fast on my keyboard and trackpad. I would replace them with fresh batteries one day and three days later both devices would be ≤50% so, I called Apple as soon as this started happening and they had me reset both devices. Since then I have to replace the batteries every week, it's very ANNOYING. I've been looking through these reviews on Apple and on many other websites and I'm glad to see that I was not doing something to cause this problem, EVERY PERSON IS HAVING THIS PROBLEM!!! Apple needs to do something to fix this problem ASAP!

This "Magic" Track Pad here is absolutely god awful. It takes on a mind of it's own, randomly highlights things and doesn't scroll down when you tell it to. Also, it seems to adhere here to the wind more than my fingertips. I won't touch it and it goes absolutely crazy. Worst track pad to exist.

    broke after 7 months

    • Written by from Yelm

I bought this product together with my imac 27" about 7 month ago. It work fine and loved it. I am a photographer and I use my mac for editing mainly. Two days ago it stop working, changed batteries, nothing. It act like it has a mind of its own. I doesn't response anymore to any finger movement or sometimes skip from one side to the other side on the screen. Very annoying. Having not bough a mouse with it I need to run back to the apple store and try to exchange it. Will posed their response later when I am back.

Rubber bottom thingies break off, and impossible to replace. Works when it wants, and hogs batteries. Too bad because it's very useful when it wants to be.

    Single-use item

    • Written by from Houston

So, the batteries got stuck after a couple of weeks of no use. The battery door would not, could not budge. I bent a few coins, since the slot is rounded and will not fit a screwdriver. Tried a few cycles of heating and cooling, including butane. Finally I removed the rubber pad under the battery compartment, exposing two small holes. Used these holes to soak the insides with vinegar (great for removing battery corrosion) for two full days. But the door still would not budge. In the end I used a bit too much force, and the front surface cracked. So now it's useless.
This is a design problem. I will not be replacing it.

Why replace AA batteries in 2013?

    • Written by from Placentia

This device eats AA batteries which must be periodically replaced or recharged. Even worse, the pad's response time is slightly slower than the pad on a Macbook Pro, which makes navigation annoying.

It stopped working after 10 months

    • Written by from Los angeles

I was so disappointed. I changed the batteries but still no life in it. It could be that because I didn't use it for long periods of time, it had some corrosion issues with the batteries and that killed the trackpad.

    constantly losing connection

    • Written by from singapore

conceptually a great product but placed within 30cm of 27in 2013 iMac with new battery and consistent (non-sleep period) use, it is constantly losing connection (same environment as other bluetooth devises). About one in three commands are lost and connection fluctuates rendering it more counterproductive than useful.

Tempermental. Worked about 70% of the time, which means it does not work for 30% of the time impacting efficiency significantly. I threw it in the garbage. Apple quality is taking a real turn for the worse. Hopefully Samsung will make a compatible trackpad and I can integrate that. For now I have gone back to a wired mouse on my $5k MacBook Pro and Thunderbolt display.

I bought this to replace a Magic Mouse, thinking it might be more accurate or at least easier for details. (I have an Air and love its trackpad.) This stutters or just simply doesn't work; it will scroll only with difficulty. I've gone back to the mouse, angry at wasting $69. (Batteries are new; I am on OS 10.6.8.; the box says it needs 10.6.5 on.)

    Awful piece of merchandise.

    • Written by from Chicago

It seems like a great idea, and it looks and feels really solid. Don't be fooled. I have owned 5 of these things, and every single one began to break within a month of buying it. I just gave up returning it, because when it works it is nice. However, the signal drops in and out so often it is infuriating. MAKE APPLE FIX THIS GARBAGE PRODUCT! DO NO BUY!!!!!

Magically transforms your computer into an expensive paperweight

    • Written by from Florence

This thing is really, really great. When it works. Unfortunately, more than half the time, it doesn't. It skips and jumps and skitters all over the place, magically turning your computer into a very heavy and expensive paperweight. Called Apple - they said go exchange it. I did. Second one acts exactly the same. Googling around I see I'm not the only one screaming in frustration over this. And apparently, there doesn't seem to be a fix. I would love to be able to use this. But not if it means every once in awhile, unexpectedly, I won't be able to use my computer. Love Apple. Despise this worthless little device.

    Carry a mouse for backup

    • Written by from Washington

The only magic I experienced with this device was when I made it disappear. I stopped using it after struggling with it for a few months. Here's why: Finding the right place to click is a mystery, it seems to change all the time. Right-clicking is a guessing game, I actually had to put a sticker on it so I could find the sweet spot. Why would there be a sweet spot on a trackpad? It's not a golf club. Here's another reason: if the batteries die (mine died during a Webex presentation to a room full of executives) it might lock up your main trackpad on your Macbook, so you can't do anything at all unless you manually disconnect Blue Tooth, using the tab and arrow keys. Or you happen to have a spare mouse in your pocket. Tough spot to be in during a serious presentation. One star for design, otherwise useless.
