    Extended my network perfectly!

I received my Airport Express very quickly from Apple and as soon as I plugged it in the setup was so simple! The Airport Express asked me if I wanted to extend my Airport Extreme and all I had to do was click a button and the Airport Express successfully extended my network wirelessly. The Airport Express maintained the original speed of the network when it was extended! Worth the buy money, if you need to extend your network this is the product you need!

Does not work at 220-240 V AC. Be careful!!!

This ruins all the portability of the device while travelling since you have to carry and additional transformer. But that is not the worst part. There is NO WARNING !!!! I looked at the manual, and there is NOTHING.
Apple be prepared for lots of returns of burned devices.
I applied common sense since there was not the usual boxy plug (transformer) like every other Apple AC connector. Then I loooked at a very small print in very light gray in the same plug end, stating it works with 125 V only....
I will have to return it...

    AirPlay is Awesome

the best thing about AirPort Express is the Audio out AirPlay Enabled, da new look goes perfect with my apple tv since they are the same size the same shape except that Apple Tv is black and Airport Express is white.

Steve Jobs rolling over in his grave

If Steve were alive he would have fired the idiot who approved this release. First of all, the main purpose of having an Express is that it's small and great for traveling. Second, Apple has always been about adding functionality while keeping the size small or smaller than the original. So this new replacements fails on BOTH counts. How can any product manager think that this new design is better than the old?

Here's a novel thought. Ask what would Steve do even though he asked you not to do that. Steve would have added the additional port and frequency to the old design. Not only that, he would have actually made it even smaller. Do you hear what I'm saying???

Just because Steve is dead doesn't mean you clowns can start slacking off.

    Set up using my iPad!

I have had a great experience with the original Airport Express...the new one is even better. I am now using it as my primary router for my home, driving other devices with an older router that is connected to the Airport Express Base Station (a really nice addition). The connections are much faster than with my Airport Express N. My MacBook Pro is very happy.

Since my cable modem lives in my basement, being able to run Airport Utility from my iPad mad the set up extremely painless. I even got a pop-up window instructing me to power cycle my cable modem...how thoughtful!

I fully understand the other comments regarding portability when traveling, but the new Airport Express exceeds my needs. Good job, Apple!

Thanks you Apple for all the hard work and this Amazing, Beautiful new device.

No Longer For The Road Warrior

I returned to my Hong Kong hotel today to find my Airport Express had fried. As with most, i believe it overheated streaming music. But, it was two years old so time for a change. I rushed out to buy a replacement to find that the design had changed. What a disappointment.
As my job requires me to be on the road for half the year, i do not want a larger device with a giant cord. The salesperson told me that i could still use the old plugs from my previous model so i was suckered in to buying it.
Back in my room i found it thinner but at least 25% larger overall. The plug does NOT work with the airport because even the smallest US plug blocks the WAN port so no data is received.
Sadly, i am stuck with this device until I run across the previous model again. I will likely be buying two of those and leaving this at home on my next trip.
    Very disappointed Apple.

Great update to a great product

THis product simply works great! I plugged it in to my ethernet network (which already has an airport extreme) and the new airport utility new exactly what I was intending to do. Extend my wireless network via ethernet. A few more clicks and the new airport express was setup and running great. Tried airplay streaming and it seems to work much better.

    Great upgrade!

Bought this today to because my old express wasn't reaching the back side of the house and did not want to buy the extreme. Hooked it up and used my old settings and then turned the old express into an extender. Took less than ten minutes for everything! Good work Apple!

    Extend your Airport Extreme Network

While I have used the older versions of the Airport Express, this new version is wonderful. For whatever reason I could never obtain decent performance from the older units while connecting to my Airport Extreme base station. After connecting and running the simple setup (extending my current network) the performance is perfect! I have excellent download and upload performance for any iDevice and Mac product. Also the range is exceptional as well.

    Less portable

This unit is meant to be stationary it seems...only less portable because you need to carry an extra power cable. That doesn't matter so much because I carried an extra extension cable for my previous model Express. If it bothers you, keep your old Express and travel with that. It is still a great piece.

    Mac for setup required

So I received this great product from my beautiful wife "BB" for fathers day...any who, i was excited! I wanted to setup the Airport Express right away, which i thought would take me just a couple of minutes. Lets just say this wasn't as fast to set up as Apple stated. After trying to use my iPad to setup, i finally resulted to using my MacBook. Pros: Using Airport Utility on my Macbook lets me easily change the channels for less-congested wifi. Plus, my internet is now quicker, (maybe cause i had a $20 router). Cons: I was only able to set up with my Macbook. I was unable to set up with iPad/iPhone. This took me about 15 minutes.

    Well worth the price!

I live in a 1 BR condominium and find that the new Airport Express base station perfectly meets my needs. It is sleek, compact, and very easy to setup on a Mac! This unit has exceeded my expectations in terms of quality and performance!

If you need a good router for a small area, this is the one to buy!

    Well done, Apple!

    Huge Improvement

This week I upgraded from the "wall wort" version. I get a much stronger signal much further away.
I use the Express as a bridge/extender from a time capsule that I also use as a router.
The connection process was much easier also.
    Highly recommended.

    Great addition

Bought this product yesterday to replace the older airport express because I use this to extend my range and works like a charm. Pretty much no setup process and my Time Capsule did all the work for me. Now my electronics on the other side of the house moves at blazing speeds. A MUST BUY!!!!!!

    Magic!

I have a pretty complex home network, with an Extreme Base Station and two previous-generation Expresses that extend the wireless network. I got this Express to extend it even further, plugged it in, and before I had a chance to open up the Airport Utility and change all sorts of settings, the utility opened up, assumed I wanted to extend the network again (!!), and the default settings it offered made sense. I know that this is largely due to the new Airport Utility, but magic is still magic. Range is very good, power consumption is minimal. Great gizmo.

    Amazing

I had been thinking of getting the airport extreme for a while to speed up a few of my gadgets but never liked the size or cost and as i only needed it for my home (less than 15 iThings) i thought it was too much . but the plug-in airport express wasn't what i needed either . then the new airport express came out and as i had 2 apple TVs the similar design caught my eye . I installed it yesterday plugged into my virgin speedy hub , it took 10 mins and has made what was an already quick network even quicker . My download times of films and songs have been cut in half sometimes quicker. All in all another great piece of tech .

    Works perfectly, high performance too

I own an older Airport Express (the 802.11g model) but only used it rarely while travelling and for AirPlay.

However this new model has become my main router at home, it's that good. It's also extremely fast (faster than the 100mbps ethernet port can handle in fact).

Despite the fact that the device is intended to live on a shelf somewhere, it's still very much portable if you have one of the power plugs from the older model or a Magsafe power adapter, they will in fact plug in to the back of this new Airport Express (it looks funny, but who cares?).

Highly recommended, perfectly capable of being the main router for a house or apartment despite not having gigabit ethernet support yet (this is probably coming at some point, the older Extreme didnt have it either).
