    MagSafe power adapter

    Ive gone through 2 in less than 10 months. The second one just quit on me and I rarely ever took it out of the house, only picked it up by the brick and practiced every precaution to prevent any stress on the cable joints. I have two papers due tomorrow and my laptop wont charge. If you are a student looking for a dependable computer DONT get a MacBook until apple licenses third party manufacturers to make the MagSafe adapters, maybe they can get it right. P.S: I was unable to describe my true feelings about this product due to the language filter on these reviews, but I assure you there were alot of "expletive deleted's". Oh and I wasn't able to give this product less than 1 star

    First adapter has lasted 9 months - time for the second now :(

    Echoes of the numerous reviews describing the initial intermittent connection problem followed by the extremely hot box that is either sitting near you or plugged into the wall. Well, we are at complete failure stage as of last night so, overall it lasted 9 months as I ordered the computer 12/10/2010. Not acceptable if you ask me.

    3rd Time's the Charm

    I love the design of the magsafe but I just purchased my 3rd one in less than 3 years. My two previous chargers broke in different places so there is more than one weak point. The charger just is not durable enough. I have taken good care of my chargers and have tried to protect them. Hopefully this next one will last.

    Disgraceful

    I love apple products but they should be ashamed of this cord. The plastic began to disintegrate after only 8 months. It rarely travels, so it's not from overuse. The most ridiculous part of the whole thing is that they charge $80 to replace it when it's so poor quality in the first place.

    Really sick of this

    I love my MacBook but I've replaced the power cord twice already and it's just broken again. It's ALWAYS the same problem, the cord just falls apart at where it connects to the MacBook. You would think that after so many complaints and bad reviews that Apple would produce a product with more strength there. The rest of the power adapters are fine except for the flimsy cord so now I have three perfectly good chargers and laptop that is useless until I buy a new adapter.

    60W MagSafe Power Adapter Is Horrible

    I have had my 13" MacBook Pro for a little over two months. The power adapter just quit working. I can't believe Apple is using this horrible product. I would expect that computer which costs as much as this MacBook would have have come with a power adapter that would last longer than 60 days. I am now forced to quit working. Drive to the store to replace this expensive, poorly designed power adapter just to complete the work that I am doing on a Saturday afternoon. I am not a happy camper at this time.

    Very poor quality

    I, too, bought this charger and it stopped working after four months. I brought it to the Apple store, and they said it had a warranty of 90 days. I agree with numerous reviewers that this is an exceptionally poor product, and I would warn anyone who is reading these reviews (as I should have!) to avoid this charger! I hope Apple will eventually recall this product and offer a charger that *works*

    Worst Adapter in History (Three Dead in Five Months)

    If I could give this zero stars, I would. Like many of these people, I do not normally write reviews. However, I bought this computer in August of 2010 and my third adapter since then just died – within FOUR days of purchasing it. Absolutely nothing to cause or justify a mechanical failure has occured. It just stopped working. Judging from these reviews, that's incredibly common. Apple needs to do something about this if they ever want me to buy one of their computers again.

    DEAD AFTER SIX MONTHS?!?!

    I cannot describe my frustration in having my second charger fail in 6 months!!!! SERIOUSLY something is wrong with this adapter! If apple knows it's going to fail every few months make it cheaper. Nothing is worse having this fail right after christmas when everyone is already broke!

    Bought a second one so I can leave one at work, have one on the go.... New three weeks and died today.... The original one that came with my Macbook Pro is cracked and on it's last leg as well... Where's the R&D team on this one?

    Breaks Easy

    Made poorly. Owned my MACBOOK for about eight months than it started to give me problems charging "on and off" for about 2 -3 weeks before It stopped charging completely. The tip fell off while examining the cord. Got a new one, but feel apple should revisit the problem. Like the magnetic feature but feel quality and construction is still lacking.

    For the most part, I love everything about Apple, but this charger is completely unreliable. As a college student, money is already an issue, so dealing with replacing a charger is something I don't want to deal with. The heads always fall off because it's just not durable enough. I never tug on my cord or anything, so I was really shocked when each of my chargers broke.

    Disappointing

    After my second T-shaped cable frayed and stopped working (I think that's a problem in itself), I ordered this L-shape. Like another reviewer said, it didn't work right out of the box. Fortunately that reviewer mentioned removing the battery, which I did, and for some reason now it's working, but the same reviewer said he's had to remove the battery repeatedly since to get the charger working again. None of the troubleshooting advice on the site is of any help. For $80 plus tax, this is a huge disappointment. Apple, I've been your number one fan since I was about 9 years old. Please don't force me to the dark side with shoddy design problems like this!!!

    I have had to go through TWO chargers cause this stupid thing keeps dying and I've been through two in only 2-3 months, this is ridiculous and I'm getting ready to get another one. I baby my charger, I'm OCD over it. This charger is horrible and if it wasn't for me loving my MacBook and everything I wouldn't care. I WANT THE OLD CHARGER BACK I HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND IT GOT A STRAIN. But no, this one doesn't get a strain, IT DIES EVERY SINGLE TIME.


    I will never like this charger and I don't have $80.00 a month to just buy a charger.

    I hate this....

    i havn't noticed in any of the other reviews the mention that if you plug it in the way it is shown on the apple website to plug it in, that it covers the ethernet port. You may be thinking, "Oh just flip it the other way." WRONG about 50% of macbook users have cases and cases prevent it from plugging in to the mac correctly the other way. nice design, looks 10 times better, but the design is a fail.

    Have been a customer since 1987, but it seems the quality is going down with the more customers you get!

    I'm on charger #3 -- As soon as I took it out of the package I taped both ends where the cord breaks. (choosing to save another $79 replacement over beauty....Steve would NOT approve!!)

    It's been 4 months, and the charge light is flickering on and off. I removed the tape, and surprise! The cord is breaking again!!!!

    Good thing I own APL stock....at least I'm getting a return there!

    Feeling betrayed

    I've purchased four of these in two years. They last roughly six months of normal use. How do they break? The materials are so cheaply made that the cord cracks, frays, or otherwise just falls apart. And at $80.00 a pop, I really expect better.

    Apple. Seriously. I usually love your products. I have (to this point) been a devoted fan of your computers. But I now have to consider whether or not I want to deal with your god-awful, horribly made power cords when deciding to how to spend my money. And frankly, I'm not sure its worth it.

    I'm a lifelong mac user who is seriously considering switching to PC over a power cord. That's how bad these are.

    Losing ability to charge my laptop

    Because my charger broke YET AGAIN. I seem to have to replace about once a year. This last one lasted a whopping 1.5 years because I treated it like a newborn baby made of glass. Seriously, Apple? This is totally unacceptable. I will not be buying a Macbook ever again unless the power cord situation is remedied.

    I am extremely nice to my chargers, and now that I am no longer a student on the go, my cord usually gets moved from my bedroom to living room and on the occasional out of town trip. It's a pretty light level of use, and yet I had fraying at the plug-in site until it eventually just died. I tried to fix with a bit of a electrical tape but obviously that was a temporary fix. Sigh.
