    Horrible. every. single. time.

This is my third charger in four years... Nothing is wrong with the cord's exterior, yet AGAIN it crapped out on me. I'm a designer and work part time from home. I need my computer at all times. Apple, how can you make such a worthless product??? I'm SO angry. I bought two other chargers on ebay instead of investing in your worthless charger again.

Seems like they will not correct a problem ...

... Because it makes them a lot of money. It's funny reading/seeing all these 1 star reviews! lol. I've had 2 faulty chargers, and I learned how to fix them with a soldering iron on YouTube. Then my wife's charger died too. Anyway, I'm ACTUALLY now considering switching to toshiba or something just because of this power issue. I love th Apple UI.software, but I feel taken advantage of. I will switch knowing that I'll miss the apple experience, but I'd rather have a better built product, especially if it's cheaper too.

    Poor Quality Cable

The cable began to fray after 4 months of use. It's now been 11 months and has finally quit.

If you plan on having this charger for longer than I did make sure you're not wrapping your cable neatly around the designated prongs and storing it in its own cushioned pocket.

Just lay the cable flat on the ground and never, under any circumstance, touch it.

Guess I'll spend another $80 on my $2000 ultra book...

    Did not last

I have to replace it every year for about 4 years because the cord outside the box broke, and that happen every year with normal use. This charger have a very bad quality, apple should improve in this, make it heavy duty like the extension cord.

Not a good charger, but its all we can use

3 Chargers in 3 years. These are very expensive. Can't you design something that will last long term or lower the price?
I have never had to replace my chargers on my non-mac computers even after 5 years. (A Toshiba laptop I had for example)

I will be getting Linux and other hardware when this computer or charger dies again. I've never had this problem with other company's products.

    Least durable adapter

Apple always position itself as a prestige brand, but unfortunately, the adapter itself is a negative influence of its brand name. The outer shell used is very fragile, more fragile than a PC cord. This is unacceptable because you get at least 5 years of useful life for a PC cord. Obviously, Apple's power adapter's performance is under industry average, especially when you use it "in the wrong" way. I suggest that the outer shell material be changed to increase durability.

    Zero Stars

I am on my 4th adapter in 3 years. I got Applecare specifically to keep being able to replace this thing. Its useless. Unless of course you carry it around in a special box to avoid bending any of the cords. Because power cords on a portable computer should not be moved.... How is this issue STILL not being addressed?!

6th charger, 3rd of this kind

All I can say is that with the high price and horrible quality of these cords, I will not be buying a macbook for my next computer. I have spent $500 on cords for one computer. Nice little profit boost for Apple. This cord is a slight improvement over the previous version but the actual cord does not stand the test of time. The material of the cord isn't sturdy at all. The part that attaches to the magnetic port is also made poorly. I have to jiggle it to get it to keep charging and because of that it came apart completely after awhile. You shouldn't have to constantly be thinking about whether or not your computer is charging while using your computer. You also shouldn't have to sit like a stone statue to ensure it stays in the "sweet spot". If you buy one of these cord I highly suggest that you take a roll of white duct tape and wrap it around the length of the cord up to the power box. The 6th cord broke this camel's back and I'm writing this review on 18% battery. I will be getting myself any computer that isn't a macbook for this Christmas because of a stupid little cord...

    Absolute junk

These chargers are the result of form leading function. They look great, but fail prematurely again and again. That's why they were recalled at one point.

The insulation jacket for the cable is too thin and routinely tears. My first cable was replaced for free...but I'm on my way to the store to plunk down an unreasonable $80 for another replacement. My cable's jacket has torn again and the connector is extremely hot to the touch. What an ironically named product.

Apple, admit defeat and provide a safe and reliable cable.

    Constantly Dying

We have three MacBooks in our home that are all less than two years old. Every power cord/charger has died a sudden and unexplained death at varying times.

From what I read here, the problem is not limited to our Macs.

These chargers are really, really, inadequate and fail too often.

    $80? Seriously?

I'm using electric tape to hold my flimsy charger together and it's officially broken after two years of owning my Macbook. Then I go on your website to find out how much a new one costs, and find out it's 80 dollars? I swear, Apple, one thing that makes me so mad about your company is that your products are so expensive. It's a flimsy, easily breakable charger! It's not worth $80! $80 should guarantee me a charger that works for at least 5 years. This is garbage. And what's messed up is that I don't trust buying it from anywhere else in fear of it breaking in a week. But you know what? I'm taking the risk because there's no way I'm buying it from your company. $80. Get real.

    UGH!!!

I am appalled at apple. I got my macbook pro this past summer, and it came with the new "magsafe" charger. at first I thought it was much better-looking and sleeker than the old white charger, but I now regret praising it. After a mere 5 months, the charger started acting up. I would have to fidget with it and unplug and replug until the little orange light showed up. Then, of course, the slightest shift of the computer caused it to stop charging or reset itself. It was so annoying! Not to mention my macbook has fallend from my bed a total of THREE times because I or someone else have tripped over the cord, bringing my entire life in a computer crashing down. Now, 6 months after purchasing, my charger has completely stopped working, and I've been using my roommate's old charger for the time being. There should be a recall on these chargers. I just want one that works and lasts; I don't care how it looks!!!

    Absolute rubbish

Three of these have disintegrated on me in as many years, one of which resulted in a painful electric shock. For a company that prides itself on elegant, high quality products, why is this so terribly bad?

Better than the old one, still awful

I've had to buy 4 of these in as many years, and probably just as many of the old "t-style" adapters for my previous laptop. I'm constantly fretting over the amount of strain imposed on them in the course of typical daily use and they STILL break. Easily a worst-in-class product. Magnetic attachment is a fine idea but the minimal benefit brought by this innovation is utterly overshadowed by the wretchedly abysmal engineering. It's just too flimsy to be usable, and as expensive as these are they certainly aren't trivial to replace. you'd think apple would perhaps let you detach and replace just the magnetic cord part that seems to be constantly breaking, but no - after over 10 years of essentially the same design there's still the same issued.

    You need one every year

Very bad quality. I love my MacBook but I really need a cord almost every year. That's 60$-80$ at least every year.

    horrible!

My charger had no signs of wear and tear and had no indication that it was having trouble charging my macbook, it just suddenly quit working one day. How horrible now I have to fork out $80 for a new charger which I was not planning on doing. Apple I love your products but if you want to keep your customers happy you need to either 1. change the design flaw that causes these to quit working 2. provide a lifetime warranty on the power adapters (haha wishful thinking) or 3. At LEAST lower the price on these!!!! SOOOO dissapointed

    3 adapters in 3 years

I have just about everything apple related and love the company's products. I am, however, extremely disappointed in the need to keep replacing my adapter because they eventually fray and come loose at the end that connects to the laptop. My latest replacement just sat plugged up at my desk, not being bent up or coiled and recoiled, yet it still ended up failing around the 1 year mark. At $80 each, this is not acceptable. I understand some users probably cause theirs to wear down with misuse and bending, but there is undoubtedly a design flaw involved for this issue to be so prevalent. I love your products, so please design better adapters to power them.

    failed charger for macbook pro

We bought the computer for my daughter who has taken extremely good care of it. Yesterday, she had the problem that so many people are complaining about, her charger cord came apart at the computer connection. I was surprised that an Apple product is so poorly constructed, that it cannot be simply repaired, and that a replacement costs $80 plus tax (for a power cord?). I checked the reviews and learned that this is a common problem. One surprise was finding that the occasional person with a similar complaint gives the product 3 stars. This is definitely a one (not possible to give it zero) star problem.

    HORRIBLE

    Really, this deserves 0 stars.

8 months after replacing a failed old T-head magsafe with new (under warranty), I noticed the cord just out of the magnet head had swollen, and it was again not powering up my macbook unless I bent the cord. I tested it on two friends' macbooks and encountered the same problem. I spoke with an Apple Genius who insisted the thing works on their macbooks and that I needed to update my firmware so my mac works with the new adapters, even though my macbook had been working for 8 months with my new adapter and it is still currently working with a friends' new adapter. So now I am shopping for a new adapter since I was given a defective product while under warranty and now am no longer under warranty. Won't be buying it here though because Apple charges $40 more than other online retailers.
