Should be ashamed to put out such a poor product

This is my 3rd power adapter for my macbook! They all break. The cord at the base of the box cracks and exposes the wires. You'd think the geniuses at Apple could fix this! I guess they are really not geniuses at all. Unless this is all part of their plan to make more money off of us! I wish I could rate this product 0 stars!

    Broken again!

I have had to replace 2 chargers already and now onto a 3rd. This last time the wires become damaged and exposed at the connection point of the charger. I have been told by apple employees that I am just not storing it properly but I have taken their advice each time and STILL it ends up breaking. My boyfriend and I now have to share his charger until I get a new one but it doesn't even charge the computer, so I have to always have it plugged in - another problem I have been told is common.
I love my Mac computer but am so disappointed with this accessory. They are way to expensive to be breaking this often!

    HORRIBLE CHARGER

APPLE IS TOO WORRIED ABOUT BRINGING OUT THE NEXT BIG THING THEY NEED TO BE WORRIED ABOUT THESE HORRIBLE CHARGERS THAT LAST FOR ONLY 3-5 MONTHS!

    Rubbish

The original one which comes with my macbook broke down in a year, I bought a new one, broke down again in a year. Connection was also bad and unstable, always disconnects when charging. A piece of rubbish which costs a lot. Definitely not recommended. Call yourself very lucky if yours last longer than a year.

    Piece of garbage

Lasts less than a year before cord breaks. This is a terrible product.

    Poor Quality

I replaced the charger just 4 months after I got it. Now 6 months later it has randomly crapped out again. I took great care this time to ensure longevity and even my extra caution hasn't prevented this cord from being junk. Shelling out $80 a pop, is not affordable when you're a full time student with bills!

Break often and cost a fortune!

These chargers are ridiculously overpriced and tend to break a lot. Mine broke and it was simply painful to buy another. Apple should really do something about this.

    Unbelievable Piece of junk

After 5 years with a Dell laptop and 5 years with an IBM laptop, I finally "upgraded" and splurged on a MacBook Pro. I'd never had a problem with either of them, but the Mac glitz seduced me. Within 6 months the first power cable frayed and I replaced it. Yesterday, the rectangular housing around the contact pins on the replacement cable separated from the cable. I haven't had it a year yet. In case you think I'm tossing this thing around in my backpack, that's not the case. I'm a 65-year old woman who handles all this stuff carefully and respectfully. This is a huge manufacturing defect, and I am really surprised that Apple went to market with something so seriously flawed. It really frosts me that I'm facing a $20 a month "cable" cost on this laptop.

    Apple are you listening?

The design of this product is poor. Apple, why are you not able to build a power cord that performs and lasts for many, many years? My 7 year old vacuum has a cord that has lasted under much more demanding usage. Can't you innovate like that? If it was a choice I would say don't buy it. But this is Apple. There is no choice. Those who are happy with this product are Mac Loyalists, the type to embrace any Apple product. Apple, your laptops are great. Make a power cord which complements them!

2nd adapter has gone down... now onto 3rd

Let's be honest; the reviews here are going to be high because the thing works or low because it doesn't. Myself, my second adapter in just over 3 years has died and I'm about to be forced into buying a third.

    This is ridiculous.

For a company that touts its world leading design, you think Apple could come up with a design for their power adapter -- the least high-tech, easily perfected element of the whole system -- that would ensure that they don't die on a regular basis. Seriously... it's a power adapter! How hard is it to make one that constantly doesn't die.

Get your act in gear Apple. This is embarrassing to the company's reputation.

    just NO!

I have the old mac book the black one, and it some what works with it. When i was getting it, it wouldn't work with my mac, but they told me i have to turn it off take the battery out and hold the on button for about 10 seconds, it dose work after but every time it unplugs it will not charge so i have to do the turning it off all over again. It is very annoying i am very disappointed in it. I dont have the money to buy a new mac every year. I am sorry to say but this charger is horrible.

    60W magsafe charger

This charger for my Macbook Pro 13'' died on me yesterday.
Its not even 3 months old. About a week ago the charging had become intermittent and suddenly it died on me.I have a lot of work to do.And I am a stuent who does not earn.so paying $80 for a new charger is way too much.I hate when something happens to my mac when I have paid double the price for half the configuration.

WORST CORD I'VE HAD IN MY LIFE

As an average American I have cords for everything I own. I'll admit, I don't wrap them up after every single use, but have never had problems until I purchased my macbook.

Now, I'm going on the third cord in a year and a half. It's just very weak, it frays and breaks for no apparent reason. If I would have known I was going to have to pay $80.00 each time this thing breaks (of which I just bought one 2 months ago) I would have never bought this computer!!!!

The apple store keeps telling me it's my fault, but I beg to differ. They should make their products better. I am furious that I have had some of my electronic cords for more than 7 years without any problems, and only 1.5 years into owning an apple product I am purchasing my third cord! This is infuriating, and I urge you to not buy an apple laptop until they have resolved this weak cord issues.

THEY OBVIOUSLY AREN'T LISTENING TO WHAT THEIR CUSTOMERS HAVE TO SAY, so why support a company that doesn't care about their customers???!!!????!!

    no thanks

I'm about to buy my THIRD power adapter since buying my laptop in 2008. This is a horrible product and really needs to be re-structured, or at least lower the price. I'd expect this for $30-40, but $80? I'm a full time student, I can't afford to keep replacing this.

    Very disappointed

Pretty soon I'll need to buy a fifth adapter in as many years of use. Same as what everyone else is saying. The rubber coating starts tearing at the base of the magnetic connector (one time it came apart completely). Then the wires fray and you can bet it'll be game over in days or weeks. This is all from normal use. The first time I had this problem, the Apple Store clerk (oh pardon me, genius) told me it's because I was twisting and turning the cord and that the MacBook Pro is meant to sit still at the same spot for years on end. Which is ridiculous. Of course I move it from sofa to work table to bedroom, travel with it, etc., all just normal use. I certainly don't twist it and turn it. No matter how gentle I am, no matter how hard I try not to cause any tension in the cord, the same thing happens again and again, making the MacBook Pro several hundred dollars more expensive than the list price.

    Seriously...again?

I've got to replace this thing again. It's fraying at the base of the charging cable near the adaptor. I still have my dell charger from 2001 and it's traveled all over the world...I don't even take this one anywhere. This is my 3rd charger and I'm obviously not happy I have to buy another. Apple...please find another supplier.

    Not Impressed

As a college student..........I bought my white Macbook Summer of 2010 and I'm about to replace the piece of (fill in the blank) charger for the second time. I went with a Macbook to avoid the problems that the cheap computer buyers go through. I take very good care of my equipment because I work hard for the nice things I have. Needless to say...........here goes another $80.

    Bad quality

Apple should do something about the way it's built because it's extremely delicate and the normal usage makes it fail. Not fair to have to pay again for the next charger, need to do a recall and change materials!

    BAD ENGINEERED PRODUCT

Not at all happy with the product quality and it's engineering. The price of this adapter should be reduced because it won't last more than 6 months to 1 year.
