    Bad quality

I have some pretty old laptops (HP, ASUS, DELL), and I've never had to replace power adapters on any of those laptops. The 60W magsafe of my Macbook though broke--the wire broke just outside the small white box. So, I had to replace it. I wasn't going to pay over $100 for a new Apple one, so I bought a generic one. I was expecting a good quality power adapter from Apple, but now I am quite disappointed. Apple should really improve the quality of this product. Shame on Apple if they don't.

    Flawed design

I have a mid-2009 MacBook Pro and have gone through seven of these chargers over the years. Every single cord has kinked, frayed or torn where the cable meets the MagSafe head.

    Seriously Apple????!!!!!

Just bought my third charger in the last two years. The first one that came with the laptop severed near the adapter box (if that's the right term for it) and they wouldn't replace it because my warranty had run out. Now this one has disconnected itself from where it plugs into the laptop.
I'm so sick of having to buy these things. I expected better from apple. Really disappointed

Lucky if it lasts a year

I've had several now for one macbook. Very frustrating and way too expensive considering how long they last. Apple seriously needs to address this.

    Defective

Horrible charger. The one for my old mac is still going many years later but this one is new and already broken. Light does not go on, it does not charge. I have not done anything to this charger to damage it. Poor quality product. Apple needs to re-design. The old chargers were much better. I hope you read these reviews because I'm not the only one with this problem. You need to fix this problem, Apple!

why are apple chargers so bad?

My laptop is 3.5 years old and I've never had any problems with it, but I'm about to buy my third charger. What is wrong with this picture?? Apple is clearly capable of making long-lasting, functional products, so what's the deal with the terrible chargers? With my chargers, nothing explodes or melts, the wires don't fray (although the plastic casing around the wires does crack pretty easily), they just... stop working. I'm tired of shelling out $80 every year for a new charger!!

in 10 months i have went though 4 macbook chargers

for 80 on macbook chargers that last 3 month at most is not worth it, i like apple but the laptop chagers are no good not worth buying a macbook if the charger fails so much. I will buy a regular PC laptop this mac charger is not worth the extra 400 a year on chargers

Seriously?? This is a rotten apple!

I have had Apple products for several years and the cords are horrible - or should I say HALF the cord is... and the fact that Apple won't let you just buy the part that continues to break - the section that goes to your computer - is a SHAM!! I have 4-5 perfectly working 'bottom' parts, and only one working 'top' part... and you want me to dish out $80 for a kit that sees me buying new bottom parts too?? and do what with these working 'bottoms'?? oh yeh! Throw them in the trash! PLEASE be the upstanding company we thought you were and fix both these problems! think of all the great publicity if nothing else!

    Another Unsatisfied Customer

This is my third power adaptor in two years. My second lasted less than 4 months. For the cost these are just junk - what is going on?!? I thought when I purchased a Mac I was getting good quality. Extremely disappointed.

    worst product ever

I hate this charger as much as I love my mac. This is the second one that fails since I purchased my macbook. At $80 a piece and with so many people complaining about this charger over a period of years, this product really sounds like a fraud. If you like macbooks, be prepared because you will have to change the charger every 1 - 1 1/2 years. And apparently there is nothing one can do about it except just to take a deep breath and pay for a new one.

Faulty product and replacement way overpriced

Went to charge my MacBook, but adapter indicator did not light and notebook was not charging. Inspected adapter and cables, MagSafe connector is frayed/fried where it connects to the adapter. Came on line to purchase new one, couldn't believe the price! Decided to read adapter reviews and see large majority are extremely negative. Does anyone at Apple read these reviews? Like most reviewers stated, I take extremely good care of all my electronics and power cords. This should not be happening, much less that the problem is not being addressed or corrected by Apple. At the very least, the MagSafe connector should be a plug-in that can be easily and inexpensively replaced since it's clearly a faulty/cheaply-constructed, inferior product.

    Disappointed

I love my mac, and I've had it maybe 1 month more than the 1 year warranty and my charger is completely not working. I'm extremely disappointed that this charger is already broken and I have to pay $80 to get a new one. I'm a college student and I bought a mac because I thought it would last the longest out of everything on the market, I'm hoping nothing else starts going wrong with it.

    THE WORST CABLE EVER BUILD

Can Apple do better with this macbook pro 13 charger for the price they ask ?? Is a real piece of crab and is only good to have have it still on a desk and NOT for a laptop.

    Just a #$%ˆ&*( piece of %$*(.

Absolutely the worst charger for ANY portable device EVER made!

I am about to be on my third charger that has worn out from normal use. I made sure to remove the charger by grabbing the connecter and not the cord too. Everyone one I know who has a macbook of any sort has had at least one charger break. I will NEVER buy a macbook again, solely based on the $80 replacement price of these time bomb chargers.

Last time I buy any Apple products

I am now on my 4th adapter in 3 years. Not only are these adapters poorly designed (wires bend and break, gets unbelievably hot) but they are ridiculously overpriced. I have had less problems with my piece of junk dell than this thing.

    horrible

I can't believe this charger is even allowed to be sold, or the fact that it seems Apple has not acknowledged this problem and tried to remedy the situation. I have to purchase my third charger soon for EIGHTY DOLLARS because this company cannot seem to make this product dependable. On top of that, my husband is in the army and we are currently living in Germany so I have to purchase this online then wait and extra amount of time to receive it since I'm overseas. It gets even worse, this is 2 days before school starts! I find it hard to believe with all of the products apple has created they cannot create a dependable charger. This thing is a piece and should only be sold for 5 bucks because that is what it's worth. Also, this L shaped design, wasn't the most brilliant idea they have come up with, it makes the cord get in the way of the plugs that are next to it and if I flip it around the wire bends funny. I prefer the T shaped charger and have no idea what possessed them to change the design rather than the performance. This is ridiculous. If Apple is going to charge an arm and a leg for their products then they should at least make them dependable. My husband has a $500 Gateway Laptop that has a power cord that performs flawlessly, which is 10 thousand times better than this $1,800 Macbook.

    SEVEN!

I purchased my Macbook in the summer of 2007 and I'm currently having problems with my 6th cord, soon to need a 7th! That is 7 cords in 4 years, 3 of which, replaced in the last 5 months. The first few were wear and tear, frayed in all the usual spots. The last few are unexplainable. Frustrated.

    MacBook Power Cord

I have owned my MacBook since December 2007, which included the power cord. Having witnessed what my son and husband's cords have done previously with every day use at home and at work, I decided to take extra care not to cause any unnecessary pull on the cord. In other words, I've babied my power cord. Now in 2011 I am having problems with the power cord in the usual place. At the white squared adapter where the narrower cord goes into it.
I just found out how much it will cost me to replace it and I can't believe it! $82 at BestBuys and $79 through Apple. OH COME ON APPLE! You can do better for your loyal customers! The adapter is defective and not built to take the every day use unless it's babied. I have had power cords to other equipment for years that I use and they have held up far better than the outrageously priced power cords you make.
You owe it to your loyal customers to produce a power cord that can last much longer than a year or two.
