    Good, but requires modification

The bumper is a good case for what it's meant for. It offers no screen or back glass protection at all. The problem is the connectors. The dock connector port is a perfect fit for the apple dock connectors. However, if you have any accessory or 3rd party cables, this is where it becomes an issue. The ipod adapter in my car wouldn't work. Even an older apple branded ipod cable doesn't fit with the bumper on.

Solution: I used a Dremmel to make the dock connector much more accommodating to other cables.

Longer term solution: bought another case.

    don't recommend

I used this case since i got the phone. I've been pretty happy wit the case, I actually liked the case. but when i went to take it off to use the phone with out a case i noticed that this case severely scratched my phones sides. I was pretty upset because this was suppose to protect it and it scratched it. And for thirty dollars the rubber splits from the plastic within several months of use. So please don't make the mistake i made avoid this product.

    Scratches Aluminum Antenna!!!

This is the only Apple product I am very disappointed with. I couldn't believe what I was seeing when I took off my bumper after seven months..nothing but scratches on the aluminum trim of the iPhone. I would say the only positive aspect of this item is the grip and this is why I rate it with two stars instead of one. The bumper's plastic is too, low quality because it eventually scratches and the rubber trim eventually starts to rip. If you strictly care about the appearance of your iPhone, I strongly suggest another iPhone case.

I got this case, and i love it. It was perfect. Until I took it off. Then I realized that it scratches the entire steel band! I have entire spots worn off. DONT BUY THIS CASE

    Go with the Incase Snap

    Scratches Metal Antenna Band

I used this case for a year on my iPhone 4, carried in my pocket.

I'm giving it only 2 stars because the case permanently scratched the metal band surrounding the phone, as well as the volume and sleep buttons. I always carried the phone in a very clean pocket devoid of anything else, and removed the case and cleaned it with a brush and soapy water every month or two. Yet somehow, the phone was scratched.

Other than this, the case is great. It is not intended to provide heavy-duty protection, and never claimed to -- but still, I've dropped the phone three times to no ill effect, and the glass remains free of scratches. It's just the right amount of sticky, and is very low-profile without hiding the visual appeal of the phone.

Apple needs to put a thin later of silicon or something around the entire inside of the case. Then I'd buy it in a heartbeat for my iPhone 4S.

    Stretches

I had this bumper for about two months before it got destroyed by my dog. Not Apples fault obviously. Anyways, I dock my phone every night in the iPhone 4 dock. The iPhone 4 doesn't fit when it has the bumper on, so I would have to take it off every night, or whenever I needed to charge my phone. The rubber got to a point where it would not fit tightly on the phone anymore, and just fall off. It looked good, and works well as long as you keep it on the phone at all times and have no intent on taking it off often.

    Good concept, Bad product

Great concept, but scratches the top and side of the phone. Also, is falling apart after only 4 months.

    Not strong at all

It is a really sleek looking case for the phone especially if you want to show off the beauty of the phone, but not very sturdy. My daughter who is 1 squeezed it together and unfortunately it would not go back to shape even when placed back on the phone. for$ 30 it should be sturdy enough to with stand a 1 yr olds strength. Want buy another unless they go on sale they should only be at most $20 to purchase.

Only good for 2 or 3 months

This bumper was a great idea to be able to cover the sides and still show off the phone, but after 3 months the rubber is starting to strech and tear. Not worth the $30 that it costs.

    great looks, horrible design

I "had" the black one that apple gave free. First glance it is a beautifully made product, Sleek and very professional looking.

The bad: This product was only designed to use the apple USB to charge the phone. Any other after market products does not fit. I have all aftermarket adapters, in my car, at work, my gf's house and my external battery charger... non of the above work with this bumper. 2 stars for looks...

hope this helps a bit with your decision to purchase.

    Tearing apart

I liked the concept of the bumper...and liked the bumper initially. But it has stretched out, and now on both sides, the rubber part of the bumper has split and is tearing off. Disappointing from Apple.

    Bad Bumper

This item is horrible. I've had it for a little over 4 months and it is coming apart. It cost too much to last this little amount of time. I'll never purchase this again.

    Ignorance

People, the bumper itself does not scratch your phone, obviously. Letting little pieces of dust/debris get underneath it by not cleaning your screen, will scratch it...same with the incase slider cases. Stop playing angry birds in the sandbox with your kids and I am willing to bet the scratches go away....

Great Look & Feel; Poor Construction & Durability; Scuffed Metal on iPhone

I got my bumper for free last year and have used it exclusively with my iPhone 4. I loved the way it looked and felt until it started braking apart last month. Now it's pretty much unusable. Even though $29 is overpriced for this bumper, I was planning on getting another one since it gives some level of protection, a nice grip and, most importantly, it doesn't detract from the iPhone look. Unfortunately, while my iPhone has no stractches on the exposed glass, it is severely scuffed on the metal band/antenna, which happens to be "protected" by the bumper. This is a serious flaw and for $29 it should do a much better job at protecting the metal around the iPhone 4.

    expensive junk

nice concept but the rubber started to detach after about a month of light use. way over priced for the durability.

    Nice but…

Love the design but I noticed that the inside of the bumper (I got) is not smooth and it damaged the appearance of the antenna! if you care about the look of your iPhone (like I do) then this might not be a good choice also when one removes the bumper to clean it will become loose and the rubber part might detach from the center plastic part (it happened to mine) I had to glue it back.

Someone compared it to having carpet and not caring about the floor underneath, well the way I see it is like having a rug on a nice hard-wood floor and I like to keep both in good shape :)

    Close But No Cigar

I actually like this product. Minimum casing mixed with perfect protection. So why did I ditch this product? Simple.

Everyday when I need to charge my iPhone I would have to REMOVE the bumper in order to do so. The bottom cut out on the bumper is NOT wide enough to fit the iPhone charger. Whether if it's an official charger or not. Makes me wonder why Apple design a cutout in the first place when you can't even access it with the bumper on.

    Conclusion: HORRIBLE DESIGN FLAW

    black Bumper scratches the iPhone!

Guys, before you start using your black Bumper, buy a full body film to cover your headset( i.e. iWrap), otherwise your iPhone will get scratched all around. They say it is because of the dust and some other tiny things that come inside the bumper, but i used to clean the inner side of the bumper very often and i still got those scrathes. If you take a look closer to the inner side, you'll find out that the inner side of the bumper is not as flat and soft as it should be!
