    love it!

    • Written by from Ashland

the display is awesome and I especially love the ease of connectivity for all my peripherals, ethernet, etc, to my MacBook Pro being consolidated to the thunderbolt port and power port. so much easier now to disconnect and go and more aesthetically pleasing to have the wires all going in the back of the display rather than using all the laptop ports. great design.

    King of Glare

    • Written by from New York

I was assigned a thunderbolt display at work. I was so excited. But the minute I started using it, I realized a huge problem with it, kind of a deal breaker: it reflects almost everything. I am a programmer, and I like to program with a dark background in my editor. Now with this horrible reflection, I cannot see my staff clearly. All I can see is the shadow of whatever behind me. It is a good tool to tell whether your boss is coming behind you, but not a good display monitor, at least for programming.

    GLOSS is horrible

    • Written by from Toronto

Cool monitor....but if you actually have to work on it it is brutal on your eyes. The gloss is terrible if you work in a room with any light whatsoever. It's like staring in a mirror.

I don't understand why they didn't make this a matte finish.

    Beautiful, expensive, imperfect

    • Written by from Charlotte

The display is beautiful. Crisp colors, great resolution, simple and elegant.

It's pricey. By the numbers, not great value for money.

The most frustrating thing about this display is that frequently it fails to recognize the (Apple) usb keyboard plugged into it and to pass through keystrokes to my (Apple) laptop on thunderbolt. For this kind of money, integration across the product line should be smooth and painless.

Very nice at the launch date (2011) but today it is outdated

    • Written by from Dob

It is magnificent display. Or better to say it was. It still looks great, but it is outdated. I am thinking to buy one, but I am not happy at all:

    - lack of the USB 3.0 (external HDD drives!!)
    - no RETINA resolution (so I was mentioned, you have far better display on the newest Macbook pro, what is the point of using it, besides its size? As we already found out it can not replace totally all ports on the Macbook due to the lack of the USB 3.0 ...)
    - It design is nice but also outdated ... Check it out newest iMacs ...

    Gutting time waster

    • Written by from NEWPORT

After years of boasting I never had a problem with a piece of apple hardware I find problems with not one but two pieces of kit. I have the latest 27" iMac and the last MacBook Air. Both with thunderbolt ports and both great bits of kit. I thought I'd treat myself to a Thunderbolt Display, despite the price... I picked one up in Bristol this lunchtime, got it home, hooked it up and then nothing. Tried it with both pieces of kit, osx and windows. Tried both the built in thunderbolt cable and a separate one thinking it might be the cable. Still nothing. Took it back and got a replacement, got that home and hey presto another duffer. Managed to get it going in osx but on rebooting the iMac it was completely dead. The only way to get it to work was to pull the thunderbolt cable and plug it back in. Same for the MacBook Air. Tried it in windows / bootcamp on the iMac and nothing I tried would get it to work. Updated windows, updated bootcamp drivers (osx was already updated), rebooted, disconnected and reconnected etc. and still nothing. Got a refund but wasted 150 miles of driving, nearly £20 in bridge tolls and most of my Saturday. The only good thing was the staff at the store. Shape up apple and build us a new thunderbolt display, a thin one like the iMac. One that works with windows please!

    Gorgeous!

    • Written by from Fort Worth

The Thunderbolt display is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone that comes into my office comments on the crispness and clarity of the display. The additional USB 2, Firewire 800, and Thunderbolt ports greatly reduces the clutter of cables and hubs that used to litter the desktop space around my computer. The only downside I can think of is now my wife is going to want one for her MacMini.

    Awesome Display!!!!

    • Written by from Hammond

This display is so Awesome. Bought refurbished and can't be happier. The late 2012 Mac Mini and this display are a perfect match. The price is cheaper than any other 27" display with the same resolution. Don't buy junk, get this display.

    Great Investment for film/ photography

    • Written by from HORIZON CITY

This is an expensive (by most people's standards) investment, but one that is going to pay for itself down the road. I use this driven by my late 2011 MBP with a seagate TB hdd attached for media management. The resolution in this monitor allows me to do single window video editing in premiere pro and allows me to work on photographs in big clear detail. I love it!

    Awesome+++

    • Written by from allentown

Just purchased the MacBook Pro thunderbolt and Cinema Display thunderbolt. Monitor came with everything needed to connect. It instantly worked, just by connecting the cables. No screen flickering etc. as I have seen in previous reviews. Works 100%.

I am a professional Web Designer and this was the perfect solution. Thank you Apple : )

    Thunderbolt Greatness

    • Written by from concord

Just got my display from best buy very happy with it works fine on my MBP 15 none retina. Only quirk with it is that it slows boot up and shutdown by a good amount still to be expteaced with a massive display + pci compotes run threw the cable. Looking forward to using it with my windows rig as well rebuilding it to support thunderbolt :D
Pricey but by far the best quality on the market blows my LG led display out of the water. And no i'm not an apple fan boy just giving it a 5 star for no reason the quality stands out on its own. every new technology will have its quirks at least apple takes the time to fix them unlike many other manufactures.

    Was Nervous

    • Written by from Baton Rouge

I was nervous about this purchase based on some of the reviews I read here but once I got the unit home and hooked it up to a Mac Mini I am very pleased. In my opinion one of the ways Apple really stands out from other PC manufacturers is their displays... this monitor does not disappoint in that capacity and is an excellent companion to a Mac Mini and as a bonus adds three more usb and one firewire ports. Very well thought out!

    Best Monitor Period!

    • Written by from HIlo

Apple proves itself again to be the absolute best around. Just played bought and played Angry Birds "Star Wars" from the app store on my new mac mini and apple monitor with my son....and it was awesome!

By day I own and operate a web and graphic design firm and we have only bought iMacs up until now. This mac mini and monitor is for my home office and I couldn't be happier with this combo.

Highly recommend this combo...at least until the new 27" iMacs come out in December!

Love it!! it's easy to forget in the PC world....this sort of quality would cost you minimum 1200 bucks....and that doesn't even come with TB. Love the fact it has connector for power to my macbook. And I finally understand why they only do this in high gloss. It's easy to clean :).

    27" Thunderbolt Display WOW!

    • Written by from Copley

This is a terrific product. I have been using it with my 13" MacBook Air for the past several months with no major problems.

I do think the OSX Lion software still needs a little work. I am convinced Apple will continue to support this product fully for the forseeable future.

I use this for gaming and high-end design - interactive and print work. It's flawless. I'm not sure why its received so many negative reviews... my experience with two separate units has been excellent. I purchased one for studio use after using my macbook pro with another.

    Easy connect. Beautiful screen. Simple.

    REFLECTIONS!?!?!?! Is this a joke?

    • Written by from LOS ANGELES

Most beautiful design, Solid, BEST connections with my macbookPRO. But I can ONLY ONLY ONLY work with it inside a dark cave or in the evenings. Working on this monitor is like working on top of a new Audi.

What´s the point of making such a beautiful piece of monitor if we cannot work on it during day time?

I spent 60$ on a MATTE antiglare filter. Final result: TERRIBLE blurry image and waist of 2 hours.

I need to return this product, I´m afraid. I really hope you guys are thinking on matte screens, at list for professionals that also work during day time.
