    Expensive, frays easily, awkward...

I'm at my wits' end-- this is the 3rd time that I am replacing a power cord for my laptop, and that's after extending their lives with electric tape! The cords seem almost designed to fray quickly. Mine has frayed near the laptop connector just a year in.

Apple, not everybody has a perfect workstation at home to keep the cord in their "optimal geometry." Apple, for $80 you should be providing quality cords that can withstand some curving now and again. That's part of the convenience of having a light laptop. Otherwise, Apple, you should certainly be replacing frayed cords for free.

    DC cord will certainly break

Two MacBooks, two broken chargers. Right now, I feel electric current when I touch metal parts of the charger and also the aluminum body, even though I always carefully unplug and store so as not to put too much strain on the cable. I can't understand why they don't change the design of the clearly to weak cord.

Cable rips easily at the power brick

Title says it all. Every generation of this power adapter, the cable splinters and rips on the MBP side of the power brick. These cables should really be braided or of better quality for a $3k+ laptop.

    an O.K. charger

I love my Macbook Pro, but the charger has several issues...all of which are easily fixable. The first issue is the magnet which charges the computer. It's very weak and unplugs very easily. Working while the computer is charging on your lap can sometimes be a bit tedious because the charger constantly falls out. The second issue I have with this charger is the adapter end. The smaller one that is two pronged is so easy to loose, and Apple doesn't offer replacements. If you lose it, then you either have to buy a knock off or pay for a whole new charger (that's about 80 bucks you're giving up). I wish Apple would sell the adapter end by itself or just add somewhere on the charger where it can be placed and not easily lost.

    Falls Apart

I seriously resent being made to shell out for a new charger every year. The rubber on the cable between laptop and power unit comes apart at both ends - both where it meets the laptop and where it meets the power unit. After that the metal shielding comes apart, after that you start worrying that your children are going to get electrocuted or the power cable will stop working.

If you can't fix it, then at least don't gouge the customer on the cost of the replacement. Why not provide detachable cable so that only the part of the cable from power unit to laptop requires replacement? Why not put the customer first?

Really surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit

After weeks of shorting out my computer this charger finally sparked, burned me and burned out. Great part of it was that I was just starting a two week vacation in a remote location with no Apple retailers near by. Amazed this hasn't happened more or resulted in a lawsuit for Apple. Only been using this charger for a little under a year before the problems started but I do travel frequently. Will not be buying another apple laptop in the future.

    WORST charger ever used.

I paid 2300$ for my laptop less than 2 years ago and it no longer charges my macbook. I have a macbook without magsafe from 5 years ago that still works today. This design is terrible because now I can only charge my macbook when its off??? I don't understand how Apple can get away with charging people so much money if their chargers can't last more than 2 years?

    Frays in only 5 month.

I had gotten this cord only 5 months ago, and now the end with the end to charge is cracking and starting to fray. In my mind, I wasn't being harsh on the cord, just normal use (plugging it in at my desk, sitting with it at the table, etc.) where you would think the integrity of the design will hold up. Now i have to keep wrapping it in electrical tape to keep from killing myself or spend ANOTHER $85 to get a replacement, its not like I already shoveled my money to them when I bought the darn computer!

    Disconnects

this power adapter disconnects with even the SLIGHTEST movements of the laptop. VERY annoying! most people like to have their laptops on their laps, while they're using them; not really easy to do, what with the magsafe disconnecting if it's lightly touched. I spent good money on this laptop, so I expect it to not have dumb quirks, such as the one I've mentioned.

Buying third charger in 4 years

It's a laptop. Which means its portable. Which means I take it to work and bring it home every day. I am buying a third charger in four years. Apple says the charger is designed to be unplugged and wrapped every day. Seriously???? Maybe you should design it to be!

A step back from magsafe 1

I had both previous versions. The first one and the right angled one (that was great!). Mag safe 2 is terrible, It constantly disconnects, with a slightiest movement of the laptop. I cannot use my newest 15" MacBook Pro on my lap without constantly looking at the cable if it's still plugged in. Really distracting.. I wonder how it affects my battery life while it's charging (with orange light). I thought that Apple had a better quality control and design teams...

    Expensive and VERY delicate

I have had my MBP for 3 years now and it has been great for college but I have had to replace my charger three times costing over $237. I wish they were more cost effective because to me, you shouldnt have to spend $237 over a three year span on power cables alone. nevermind the fact that I spent $1200 on the computer... Needless to say, it leaves me dissatisfied with the product.

I wouldnt be mad if it wasnt so overpriced

So I owned one for over a year now and the part where the cable leaves the adapter broke off. There's no way to fix it or replace it... And a new one goes for 90 euros at my nearest apple reseller!! This is ridiculous! This much for a product that's not even reliable in quality... I used to be a huge fan of apple products but lately all i'm facing is disappointment. Im not surprised magsafes are getting terrible reviews.

    Worthless Adapter

This adapter worths no penny, whenever I do a tiny move it just fall off very quickly. it's becoming very annoying, since it lacks stability. Also, when you plug it in, you have to flip it few times until you see the lights on. I think apple needs to seriously reconsider finding a better replacement to this.

    Atrocious Product

This is one of the worst products I have ever had the misfortune of purchasing. I only purchase them because they keep breaking and malfunctioning. They fray and create a fire hazard (I woke up to my carpet burning one day because of one of these), and the magnet becomes so weak it cannot stay attached to the computer. I've had to buy three of these at $80. Absolutely no reason for such a bad product from a capable company. As much as I like Apple computers, I may be looking elsewhere for my next one because of this.

    Disappointing garbage

I switched to Apple around 2000 and have gone through a bunch of their notebooks from the Ti PowerBook, a handful of MacBook Pros, and a MacBook Air, and I've had almost every generation of iPhone, and a few iPods. Apple may make great products, but their cables are consistently awful.

MagSafe I at least worked well but II is weak and barely sticks and every single one I've ever had has turtlenecked and occasionally shorted.

Overheat, expensive, and disposable. Not what expected for 80

I had to replace my charger because the wire just broke, I do take really good care of the cable but this disposable one will cost 80 dollars to replace! It overheats and when working on my lap it easily gets disconnected.
