Terrible - won't stay in, plugged-up and broken

    • Written by from Seattle

These headphones are terrible. The multi-sized silicone covers are either too big (won't go in your ear) or too small (doesn't form a seal and comes out). Worse, once the cover came of IN MY EAR and a co-worker had to take it out with a pair of pliers. That was 3 years ago. I can't believe Apple still carries them. I don't have a huge amount of ear wax, but within a month or two, the left one became plugged. I was able to clean it out a few times, but now it has just stopped working due to the damage.

Simply the best in-ear headphones for under $100

    • Written by from Lambertville

I have been using these in-ear headphones since 2008. My first pair last 4 years, and I have bought a handful since that time. I believe the sound quality, richness, and detail are amazing. I listen to many different genres of music, from rock, to jazz, to hip hop, to classical, they all sound clean and rich. I also uses these to workout and exercise and they have held-up very well. Additionally they are covered under Apple's 12 month warranty, so if anything goes wrong, bring them back into Apple for an exchange for a new pair.

These used to be great and highly recommended headphones...

    • Written by from Saint Louis

These used to be great and highly recommended headphones, however with the latest model, I've had the left earbud stop working within a month of purchasing them.

I've owned 3 pairs of these headphones since they first came out over 10 years ago... the first two pair lasted over 5 years and I had no problems with them whatsoever. But, again, there seems to be something wrong with the left ear bud in this latest model.

I guess it's time to find a new "go to" pair of headphones :(

Sad day. I loved these headphones when they lasted longer than a month.

Perfromance is Great Design Sub Par

    • Written by from Annapolis

I currently have 2 pairs of these headphones and have enjoyed the sound quality. However, the silicone tips are poorly designed as over time they have ripped or fallen off while removing from pockets. Without the right silicone tip these will not stay in your Ear and are worthless! The worst part is Apple DOESN'T make it easy to purchase replacement Silicone ear-tips. I actually called apple support and they tried selling me a part that was "apparently" the silicone tip for $39 when I paid $80 !! It's shouldn't be this hard to sell these to customers and I'm sure i'm not the only customer who feels this way. It seems Apple doesn't focus as much attention to these type of accessories as they do their main line products.I wouldn't buy these again!

Poor sound quality, don't stay in ear

    • Written by from Durham

I agree with the other reviews: the sound quality is no better than the standard apple earbuds. Furthermore, these don't stay in my ear- I even swapped out the plastic tops for size large.

Lousy sound quality is the same as the EarPods but with low canceled. If I could return them and I would buy another $20

    Just horrible

    • Written by from Tualatin

Broke easily, the plastic caps started melting and lost a lot of them(caps) because they would get loose too easily! Sound was ok. And the headphones wouldn't stay on my ears falling very often!

    no match to the earpods!

    • Written by from Mumbai

i bought these thinking since they are priced more than the earpods, they would be better. execept for the noise ioslation, nothing is better than the earpods.

they lack the deep bass of the earpods, they slip out of the ears, and they are fragile!

if u already have the earpods, u are purchasing inferior music quality with these. just get the EARBUDi accessory for the earpods and enjoy much better music with almost the same noise isolation as these earphones.

    thumbs down!

    My Favorite Headphones

    • Written by from College station

I love these earbuds! They are the only ones I have tried that don't hurt my ears and stay in place while I run. I was incredibly bummed when I sent them through the wash by accident and stunned when I discovered they still worked afterwards. I rate these above the Bose earbuds I own, the sound quality isn't quite as amazing but those make my ears hurt, a lot.

    NOT WORTH THE PRICE!!!!!!!

    • Written by from Moravian Falls

I returned these after 1 week of use. The sound is EXTREMELY POOR FOR THE PRICE TAG. The EarPods that accompany the iPhones, iPads, etc. are better sounding and more comfortable. I can say the following with little hope and agenda, “These earbuds are NOT WORTH THE PRICE....PERIOD”

Scared at first bug happy with them

    • Written by from Mont Vernon

This review is only after about 24 hours of use so I can't speak to the longevity of these In-Ear Headphones. When I first tried them out (within one minute), I was very disappointed and ready to return them because there was absolutely NO bass. Got on and read a few reviews and tried some of the suggestions and WOW!, what a difference. You just have to get the right silicon inserts put on, put them in your ears good and 'oh yeah'. What really made me get on and do the review though was after I saw some movement behind me. I turned around and paused the music to find him laughing and yelling at me but I wasn't able to hear him at all. Yeah, the volume was up to 75% but my ENT doesn't think I have any significant hearing loss yet so the noise cancelling (7 kids) works wonderfully.

Be aware, you have to be comfortable with the headphones inserted, they just don't lay there like the EarPods.

Initially I wanted to get some on ear or over the ear headphones for mass bass but don't like the squeeze of the headband. These are a nice alternative.

    Great in-ear headphones

    • Written by from Amsterdam

I'm loving the apple in-ear headphones, I'm not sure what kind of problems others are experiencing but I think you should make sure that it is not a chinese remake of the apple in-ear headphones. My friends (about 4 of them) purchased these headphones at the Apple store in Amsterdam and not one has complained about them.

    Terrible quality!

    • Written by from Philadelphia

I expected that with such a high price the sound quality would be so much better, I prefer the regular earphones that come with the iPhone but the store I went to was out of stock so I bought these. I honestly should've just paid a bit more money and got a Bose!

    Not recommended

    • Written by from New York

I cannot recommended this product. Sound is reasonable, though there are two big issues: The ear-tips keep coming off, which result in frequent loss. After about half a year they stopped working on one side (I bought two of this kind of headphones and this was true for both.)

    Don't stay in your ears

    • Written by from Kingston

I received these headphones as a gift about 3 weeks ago and I was very excited to use them and thought that it would be better then a single ear headphone. I tried the 3 size of buds provided and they just don't stay in my ear. I want to say that I have pretty normal ears, but these buds just slide out as soon as you move you head. It is very frustrating and now I'm not even using them because I get frustrated that they fall out all the time.
I want to change them, but not sure if they take them back

    Ear agony.

    • Written by from Ceres

I don't understand whose ears Apple used for the design of these new earbuds? Spock? Dumbo? Prince Charles?

My ears are in so much pain after having no other choice than to use these while I wait for my new pair of earbuds to arrive in the mail.

The only way that I could get these to fit comfortably, would be to pulverize them with a hammer and pour the dust into my ears.

Apple makes a lot of money...the least they can do is provide the consumer (the reason you are rich) with a decent pair of buds that have interchangeable tips.

Thank you and have a nice day.

    Pretty Darn Good!

    • Written by from Baltimore

First the bad. I've gone through two sets of these over a couple years because when you do something stupid with them, the cable will break. The cables are relatively thin, and will not resist stupidity such as catching them as the center console door closed while I was pulling them out. Super-rugged, they are not.

Also probably related to the thinness, they tend to tangle relatively easily.

Now to the more important, the good.

Obviously, since they're made (or at least branded by) Apple, they work perfectly with respect to the controls for playback, taking phone calls, etc., and I'm told the sound from them on the other end of a phone call is nice and clear.

With respect to sound quality while listening through them, I like them a lot. I think the high end is very clear and distinct. It certainly starts to roll off in the extreme highs (cymbal sizzle, etc.), but it's more than satisfactory up there. The mid is nice and musical, and the bottom end is fine. It is not super-pumped down around 40-100 Hz, and I'm sure those who want ultra-thump are disappointed.

Those who like an un-enhanced bottom will be more than satisfied. I am a bass player for 40 years now, and those who say bass is lacking are just wrong; they either don't like what real instruments sound like, or they're not getting a good seal when they insert the buds.

Overall, I'm very pleased and think that to take a real step up in quality from this pair, you will probably need to spend over $200.

Best (in ear) headphones I've ever owned !

    • Written by from San Francisco

I'm an audiophile and listen to hours of music every day. These are the best in-ear headphones I have used. They're a bargain compared to some of the other pairs out there that can set you back hundreds of dollars.

I am a very, very happy customer!! Buy these headphones!!
