    Snug, Clean and Pretty Thin!

    • Written by from Seattle

I just purchased the black case for my iPhone 5. It looks great with the phone and adds just a bit of texture for gripping. The buttons, even though they are covered by the case, work flawlessly.

Additionally, when you put the phone up to your ear, the case doesn't dig into your skin like some plastic cases might. And when you lay the phone on it's face, the case prevents the glass from touching the surface.

Overall, I would highly recommend this case if you are a interested in keeping your phone visually appealing. If your clumsy, buy the ottar box defender case. :)

    iPhone 5s Leather Case

    • Written by from Minneapolis

I am glad Apple started to make iPhone cases again. The first bumper case was great. It fit well and protected the phone. The same goes for the new iPhone 5s Leather Case. It fits the phone perfectly. It extends just a fraction over the front edge protecting the ever dangerous side drop that can crack the glass. The leather feels great in hand also. Love that new case smell!

Sleek case, but hard to remove.

    • Written by from Verona

Purchased this case with my new white iPhone 5S today. Also bought the 5S dock as well. Personally, I'm always changing my case so when I wanted to remove this new leather case to put my phone on the dock, it took me a decent 5 minutes to remove. Most would think this case is very flexible because of the leather its made from. However this almost feels like a hard type of pleather. Now I'm stuck between either returning the dock and keeping the case on there for awhile, or, returning the case and keeping the dock. Most likely keeping the dock just because the leather case is so hard to remove.

    Leather Case (1) Concrete (0)!

    • Written by from Colorado Springs

I've had my 64 gig iPhone 5S for 48 hours. Today I wanted to throw up. I thought I placed my phone into my pocket but instead I flicked it out of my pocket onto the concrete. I wanted to die. Everything seemed to go into slow motion. I saw it hit the concrete and bounce around. When I picked up my phone I thought I was going to see a broken screen or missing parts. To my delight not only was my phone still in its stellar condition. The case didn't have one scuff on it. Let me tell you, Apple made this case right! This is the best case you can buy to show off your prized possession and keep it safe. Don't hesitate buying one at all!

    Beautiful case, when it's clean...

    • Written by from Lititz

This is a beautifully designed, sleek, feel-great case.

But a word of caution: the lighter colors of these cases are extremely hard to keep clean and looking nice! I've only had mine for about 5 days and it already is worn beyond belief on the edges and dirty (I have the yellow). Every few days I have to wipe it clean with a clorox wipe or a wet cloth. I had a Speck fabric case before I got my new phone and it couldn't fit, and that was easier to clean and keep nice.

I hate to admit it but I will be returning mine. It's a shame because it elevates the design and sophistication of the iphone, but with the way it gets dirty and wears, there's no way it's worth $40.

    I want to love it

    • Written by from KNOXVILLE

I've been using the brown case since 10/4. Today is 10/8. The case looks terrible. I want to love this case. It looked great and felt great. I've gotten so many compliments on the feel of it and the color until people see it close up. It's filthy and I haven't had it outside and, I wash my hands... I had ordered the beige color and it's acutally in the mail, but I'm going to return it. If the brown gets this filthy in 4 days, I cannot imagine how the beige will look. Beautiful case, amazing feel, wrong material. Sorry guys, this was a miss.

Lightning to 30-Pin Adapter will not fit into 5S Case

    • Written by from Okemos

With the case on the phone, it is not possible to use the Apple Lightning to 30-pin adapter, as the plug is TOO SHORT!

And, the case is VERY hard to remove, making it almost impossible to charge with the Adapter.

Why would Apple design a case, and not have it fit its own adapter?

Please explain the design flaw and your solution. I bought 3 adapters.

    Not bad but has caveats

    • Written by from Roebuck

As others have described, it has a very snug fit and feels quite nice in the hand. The various colors are well done in consideration of leather.

However, the snug fit comes at the price of it being extremely difficult to remove; not an option if you wish to remove it regularly for a dock. Which it should be noted, this case prevents the iPhone 5S from sitting in the Apple dock made for this phone.

Also after 3 days of use, soil marks (especially around the power button) are present on the my Brown leather version; I'd imagine this is found on any color other than the Black. Easy enough to buff out, but still an ongoing issue.

I think it's a light, stylish case considering the strong build and appearance. But it should be noted the shortcomings it has.

    Not worth $40

    • Written by from Fort Worth

I bought the brown case for my 5S, and it fits great - looks awesome...but it's 1)hard to remove and 2) soaks up your hand oils quickly, changing the edges of the case to a "black" color. I bought the case 9/20...it's 9/25 and i'll be taking it back to Apple tomorrow for a refund. I had such hopes for this case!

Headphone and Aux Cords will not fit!!!

    • Written by from Flowood

I was pumped about the case. I bought the light brown and it looked great. Walked to my car from the Apple store and tried to plug in my car Aux cord, didn't fit. Tried my headphones, didn't fit. Walked back in the Apple store and tried every aux cord they had, none fit. I'm a huge Apple fan, but seriously. . . who tested this and gave it the thumbs up??? Not to mention my 30 pin to Lightning cord doesn't fit.

Pros: looks nice, feels nice, luxurious overall.

Cons: expensive, very hard to maintain, shows severe signs of use after 3+ days.

The above sums it all. For something that looks ugly after 3+ days of normal use, $45+tax is not worth it. The edges start to discolor, as well as some other parts of the leather.

Save your money and buy a third-party case.

Loved it at first, but doesn't hold up

    • Written by from Norman

The fit and feel of the case is perfect. We bought a brown and a blue for our phones. Within 2 days, both cases showed wear on the back edges and looked dirty. This was ok with me as I expected it to eventually "even out" over time and just look well used. However, after 1 week both cases are not only looking gross, but the leather is actually coming apart around the front of the phone. I have not dropped or used the case in any unusual way. I would exchange it if it were just one case doing this, but since both look terrible after 1 week I will just go back to a plastic case I guess. Not recommended! If you rub your finger along the front edge of the case, leather bits just come off. Very disappointed.

Headphone jack too small for many headphones!

    • Written by from Cleveland

The opening can only fit headphone with straight connectors (like the iphone headphones), and is too small to fully insert an angled headphone connector. If you have angled headphones, try them out before you buy, they will likely not fit. I find this to be a major oversight since vertical headphone connectors are rare to find.

Feels Good.. But gets Dirty fast!

    • Written by from Long Beach

I really like the way this case "feels" in my hand. After a series of Otterbox cases I wanted a lightweight case, at least for a little while. But after only a few weeks of handling this iPhone case, it looks like I've been sliding it across a dirty floor.

For the price you'd think Apple would at least go through the trouble of Scotch Guarding the case. They usually make their products very well. I bought the Red one and its already really dirty. I've tried to clean it and although some scuffs came out, other's did not. Also, I agree with many of the other reviewers, this case is extremely "difficult to Remove!!" I had to take a break when removing mine and come back and try again.

I would wait for the next generation or improved batch of these cases. These are flawed and costly. Like I said, I really like the way it feels BUT, If I could get my money back at this stage, I would.

    Pricey? Yes. Great case? YES!

    • Written by from Monroe

I purchased a black leather iPhone 5S case when I bought my new phone. My initial thoughts were that is was sleek and stylish and seemed very well designed and feels great in the hand (not slippery as some stated). After I have used it for about a week my opinion is that this is an EXCELLENT case. The negative reviews by people are because their case got dirty. Really folks, come on. I am a fanatic with my phone and am always concerned with scratches and nicks (especially since apple now uses anodized aluminum rather than steel). The fit is precise and it covers the vulnerable shiny edge of the antenna band which is usually the first thing to get dented. The nice part though is that you can still see the outline of the silver antenna which makes the overall look very regal. I've had several cheap covers for my iPhone 5 and they always seemed to do more harm than good. I liked that apple used a soft lining for the back of the phone. The inner sidewalls are just leather though however the fit is so snug I don't see and debris having the chance to get in there and cause a problem. The case is hard to remove but that is a good thing because that means it's hard for anything else to get in. When all is said and done it will set you back about 40.00 but in my opinion is is well worth the investment to protect your expensive phone.

Poor design cracked between headphone jack and case

    • Written by from Chilliwack

This case is a joke..had case for 2 weeks and it tore between the headphone jack and the edge. Bought a genuine apple 30 pin to lightning adapter and the case has to come off to use the adapter. Very frustrating due to the fact I am buying genuine apple products that don't work together. Very disappointed.

Beautiful Case - Slightly worried how well it will age.

    • Written by from Clones

I picked the red version of this case over the weekend, and I was absolutely delighted with it. It feels really nice in your hand and the quality is excellent, as is the fit.

However, in the past day or so I've noticed that the case is scuffing and becoming quite grubby looking already. This may just be because there's one or two marks on it at the moment and as a result they're standing out. In time it might age more evenly. Time will tell.

Extremely poorly constructed and borderline junk

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

The problem is that the leather is not constructed to be durable enough to withstand normal use. Unlike the leather used for wallets, keycases, etc. that are tanned and finished to tolerate daily handling, this case looks great for about three days. After that, rather than wearing and becoming more weathered, soft and beautiful like good leather, it frays and collects grime, becoming stained. You will be left with an unsightly piece of garbage that you paid $40 for within a month.
