    Snug, Clean and Pretty Thin!

    • Written by from Seattle

I just purchased the black case for my iPhone 5. It looks great with the phone and adds just a bit of texture for gripping. The buttons, even though they are covered by the case, work flawlessly.

Additionally, when you put the phone up to your ear, the case doesn't dig into your skin like some plastic cases might. And when you lay the phone on it's face, the case prevents the glass from touching the surface.

Overall, I would highly recommend this case if you are a interested in keeping your phone visually appealing. If your clumsy, buy the ottar box defender case. :)

    iPhone 5s Leather Case

    • Written by from Minneapolis

I am glad Apple started to make iPhone cases again. The first bumper case was great. It fit well and protected the phone. The same goes for the new iPhone 5s Leather Case. It fits the phone perfectly. It extends just a fraction over the front edge protecting the ever dangerous side drop that can crack the glass. The leather feels great in hand also. Love that new case smell!

    Leather Case (1) Concrete (0)!

    • Written by from Colorado Springs

I've had my 64 gig iPhone 5S for 48 hours. Today I wanted to throw up. I thought I placed my phone into my pocket but instead I flicked it out of my pocket onto the concrete. I wanted to die. Everything seemed to go into slow motion. I saw it hit the concrete and bounce around. When I picked up my phone I thought I was going to see a broken screen or missing parts. To my delight not only was my phone still in its stellar condition. The case didn't have one scuff on it. Let me tell you, Apple made this case right! This is the best case you can buy to show off your prized possession and keep it safe. Don't hesitate buying one at all!

    Pricey? Yes. Great case? YES!

    • Written by from Monroe

I purchased a black leather iPhone 5S case when I bought my new phone. My initial thoughts were that is was sleek and stylish and seemed very well designed and feels great in the hand (not slippery as some stated). After I have used it for about a week my opinion is that this is an EXCELLENT case. The negative reviews by people are because their case got dirty. Really folks, come on. I am a fanatic with my phone and am always concerned with scratches and nicks (especially since apple now uses anodized aluminum rather than steel). The fit is precise and it covers the vulnerable shiny edge of the antenna band which is usually the first thing to get dented. The nice part though is that you can still see the outline of the silver antenna which makes the overall look very regal. I've had several cheap covers for my iPhone 5 and they always seemed to do more harm than good. I liked that apple used a soft lining for the back of the phone. The inner sidewalls are just leather though however the fit is so snug I don't see and debris having the chance to get in there and cause a problem. The case is hard to remove but that is a good thing because that means it's hard for anything else to get in. When all is said and done it will set you back about 40.00 but in my opinion is is well worth the investment to protect your expensive phone.

    Excellent Leather Case

    • Written by from Edina

Purchased this case in black today for my black iPhone 5. I had been in the market for a genuine leather case for awhile. This case caught my attention right away. I had an Apple employee grab me a display case so I could feel and see how it was before buying. I thought about while taking a good look at the other cases available. A few of the other leather cases were appealing but weren't sleek enough for me. The Apple leather case was a perfect combination of quality and sleekness. This case feels great in your hands. The fit on the 5 is dead on. The top and side buttons work exceptionally well for a case. The microfiber inset is a nice touch also. This case is suppose to "wear" over time given that it is genuine leather. I am excited to see how well this performs in the long run. $40+ tax compared to the average $50+ tax from competitors.

1 month later - The best iPhone case I've found

    • Written by from San Antonio

I'll start off by saying that I've had this case in the color brown for about a month now. What I look for when case shopping are three different things: quality/fit, design, and protection. In my opinion, apple hit the head on all of these. The phone case is made out of leather, so yes, you're going to have to take care of it differently than a plastic case. After 1 month of use, the case has started to get a nice patina around the edges that will hopefully continue to cover the rest of the case. Yes the color has changed, and yes the edges are darker, but it is LEATHER and in my opinion, this is what gives leather character. If this is a problem for you, but a plastic case. Second, the fit is perfect. It is snug on the phone but is not impossible to get off like others have mentioned. With that said, if you plan on removing the case all the time, this isn't for you. If you're like me, and remove the case once every couple months, you will likely appreciate the fit as I do. Lastly, the design is perfect. It is thin, light, and offers the protection you need with out turning your phone into an armored brick. The edge is slightly raised above the screen to protect it when dropped, and the leather will likely absorb more impact than a piece of plastic. The cut out for the charger and speaker are done with precision, and the buttons are fully protected and accessible at the same time. So with this said, in my opinion apple nailed this. It's not for everyone, and especially not for those who do not like the natural characteristics of leather. To those I say, go buy a plastic case instead.

Very pleased with the Apple case

    • Written by from Senoia

I have purchased so many iPhone cases over the years I have lost count. When I saw the new leather cases from Apple I thought they would be a nice change over the slim plastic cases I had been using for my iPhone 5.

I have not always loved Apples offerings. I was not a fan of the Bumper Case and the first Smart Cover for my iPad scratched the iPad itself on the side but I figured this would be worth a shot and I'm really glad I did.

The case fits perfectly, looks very well made, and the leather feels great. I like the simplicity of he logo on the back and no other markings. I think the brown leather looks great with the white iPhone and am looking forward to how it weathers and patinas with use.

Well done Apple, $39 is still a lot for a case but this one finally feels worth it compared to so many of the others I have tried.

Stylish, minimalistic, compact, perfectly fitted, pretty protective.

    • Written by from NAPERVILLE

This case is great; the best leather case I have owned. It fits my iPhone 5 absolutely perfectly, with nice hard, non bending edges (NOT like the Bumper Case which flexed and stretched), a great texture to the leather, good "grippyness", good accessibility to ports, and buttons that are pretty easy to push. Plus it is the only case that legally wears the Apple log which some might enjoy.

The only couple of small issues are: the off/on button on the top can be a bit more difficult to push then without the case (not terrible though, easy to get used to), and the headphone jack is recesses and pretty deep, so some headphones might fit (although ever since the first iPhone most headphone makers I think are making their plugs fit recessed headphone in's). Don't worry about the case being hard to take off; it sits so tightly on your phone that you shouldn't need to clean behind the case at all.

minimum design, soft to touch but sturdy as a protective case

    • Written by from Saint Louis

There is a another review stating is slippery while I cannot agree. It's not a grain leather feel you would expect from handbags made of the same material, but its definitely not more slippery than the iphone 5/5s itself. I would say it feels more like a sheep leather, a satin finish. In general, it offers the right amount of grip friction you would expect from a protective case that is not oddly looked.

The case does have quite good supportive material inside, so in case my phone is dropped corner-to-ground, the screen should survive. And it will take some effort to undress the case.

One detail I'm not completely happy about is the feel of physical buttons covered by the case, the crisp feedback from button pushing is entirely gone, due to the design and the nature of leather compared to rubber. But it's not that serious so that you have to push uncomfortably hard to have the button do its job.

    Best case

    • Written by from maldon

I have the brown case and although it gets dirty and the leather bruises this is part of a vintage character that I like my phone to go fro! The case fits amazingly around the handset and keeps the phone slim whilst still protecting the phone! I strongly recommend this phone case! If you don't want the vintage look go for the black one as that makes the phone look real executive! And doesn't have the dirt problem! But of you want a nice vintage feel go for the brown one.

Love the worn and aged look

    • Written by from FOLSOM

I notice that there are a lot of reviews complaining about the case getting dirty and showing signs of wear. Funny, this is the thing I love about the case. And in the end, it's authentic leather and is doing what it should be doing. If you want a case that looks pristine and new forever, move on, this is not the case for you. If you want a case that looks unique and antique and has character, this might be the one...it is for me.

Fantastic case, literally made for the phone

    • Written by from Holly Springs

    The good:
    - Case is hard to remove, which means the phone won't come out easily. Inconvenient only for complainers.
    - Fits perfectly; every line and cutout are in perfect position, showing Apple's attention to detail is maintained.
    - That genuine leather feel.
    - It discolors. Leather discolors and yes, I think this is a good thing. Like the leather on my steering wheel, it went from matte over the past few years, and slowly absorbed my skin oils to have a slight polished look to it. As it absorbs the oils, it changes color, but those oils also enhance its durability. Stop whining about it already.

    The bad:
    - Price. Could have been $10 cheaper, but I'll live.

Great case -- plus removal trick

    • Written by from Columbia

First, many people here have criticized that the case is hard to take off. It's not--you just need to spend a few moments learning how to do it. The trick is that you need to smartly work both bottom corners. Hold the phone with a bottom corner facing straight up ^ and pop it from both sides. Then do the same to the other corner. Once both sides of the bottom are popped, work one side just a little more. The phone is out. No problem.

When you're putting the case back on, slide it in from the top so the bottom two corners are the last ones in, and push.

If Apple hadn't made the case so snug, it would not hold on if you dropped your phone toward the front. it wouldn't be as protective.

I have both the black and PRODUCT (RED) cases, and switch between them. They feel great, add surprisingly little thickness, and always get compliments.

You want this case. You need this case. You'll be very happy with this case.

    Great Case and Good Looking

    • Written by from Astoria

I try to make objective reviews. I've had it for a month and it looks just like the day I bought it. I don't baby it but I keep it clean and don't abuse my phone. Many people complain it gets dirty and changes color. There's been very slight minimal darkening around the edges if you examinine it under a lamp, but the leather feels great and still looks great. The case weighs nothing. Fits my Klipsh 3.5mm jack and I love it.

    Perfect Fit Perfect Case

    • Written by from Inver Grove Heights

I don't understand most of these reviews....the brown leather case is a classy choice. It fits perfectly and snug. All the openings are in just the right locations and because the case is thin it does not add to the width of the phone just like it should be. It does rise up a little from the front screen which is what it should do when resting the phone face down on a table or desk to protect the screen. I have never removed mine since first installing it, I could see that the edges might get loose if you are constantly taking it on and off but you should not need to. The leather ages just like leather should, you can take a soft dish towel with a little water to clean it up by rubbing gently on the surface, it will dry and be clean. All of the ports are cut open exactly in the right place so I don't know why people are reporting issues there. This works for me perfectly and I like the look and feel of the quality of the leather. Get one!

    Best case by far!!

    • Written by from PLAINVIEW

This is the best case I have ever purchased for any of my iPhones. I have owned everything from an otter box, life proof, incepio, and by far this the sleekest and best overall. The case feels amazing in your hand,(can't stop rubbing it lol) It has this felt like material on the inside, that way your corners of your phone and back won't get worn out like it has from other cases I've used. Whenever I bought a case for my iphone in the past, I'm always switching back and fourth because nothing pleases me, and always wished apple would make their own case for their phones. Finally the day is here!! I highly recommend this case

    Tight squeeze

    • Written by from Dannebrog

The tight fit is worth it! I bought the camel brown case about a month ago. Put it on as soon as I got it and just took it off for the first time. No dirt, no crumbs, no dust! I do not baby my phone, it's had plenty of opportunities to get junk between it and the cover. In fact, the reason why I bought this case is because my previous off-brand case scratched the back of my phone less than a day after getting the new 5s.

Outside of the tight fit, my case has shown signs of hand grease in the places where I hold the phone the most (the sides), not at all surprising with the leather exterior. I think it shows a worn leather look.

I recommend this case to everybody looking for a case that will keep the junk away from their phone, who likes a unique look, and someone whose proud of showing off the Apple emblem on the back!
