    Great case!

    • Written by from Piedmont

I love this case! It's a bit pricey but it's a nice case. I know others have complained that the case doesn't lay flat and other issues, well that's not true. It lays flat, feels good in your hand, and fits the ipad air perfectly. The case cost bit more than others but I do like the fact that my ipad air is protected. Besides I don't like cheap stuff (the cheap cases). I like the brown color (like the color of peanut butter) is different than the regular red and black. Hope this review was helpful.

    iPad Air Case

    • Written by from Chicora

After long debate which iPad to get I settled with the iPad Air and LOVE it. I wanted a case that protected it but not something like the Otterbox. I love the thinness and the color. The price is kind of steep, but any Apple product is well worth your money!!!!!!

    Good case

    • Written by from Doylestown

This is a good case...no issues in my experience..fits snugly, closes well everything lines up. It is difficult to change volume as the buttons are covered by case 'bumps'...not sure how else to describe. You need to press very hard to engage the actual button. Keeps the low profile of the air which I like. More expensive than it should be.

    Buy cover instead

This does protect your back, but it just won't fully close. There is a gap when closed and very hard to press volumne button.

    Fundamentally Flawed...

    • Written by from Dublin

Well made, fits device great but having a flap with 3x folds instead of 4x is simply wrong It just isn't stable in your hands. Ita like a bad juggling game trying to maintain the triangle shape and hold the ipad to type. Whomever signed off this design should be given their Marching orders immediately. SJ would NEVER have let this design out the door. Alan.

Black screen when folded all the way back

    • Written by from San Antonio

The screen goes dark, sleep mode I suppose, when the cover is flipped all the way back and touches the lower backside of the unit. I think that the magnets activate sleep mode when in contact with that area behind the unit. I am trying to adjust how I handle the unit to prevent this from happening, but it is such an inconvenience. This does not happen at all with ipad and vinyl cover. Will likely take the case back.

    Good case but too expensive

    • Written by from SEABROOK

I got this case for Christmas and it does everything it says it does except holding it up on portrait mode. I am mostly satisfied with this case but think the price is outrageous. I would NOT have paid over $80.00 for it.

90 percent of the one star reviews should get one star for their epic fails at using such a simple and effective product, the SmartCase for iPad Air.

Claim: the case doesn't adequately support the iPad as a stand as the magnets are too weak.

Fact: For some strange reason folks haven't figured out that you are supposed to fold the trifold cover so that the microfiber is on the OUTSIDE. REPEAT - FOLD THE COVER SO THAT THE MICROFIBER IS ON THE OUTSIDE. AND (added bonus) you won't scratch up the cover. When you do it like this the hinge folds over the triangle resulting in a stable support. If you do it with the leather side on the outside, you don't form a stable triangle.

So for those that are thinking about this product, the negative reviews about not being able to use the cover as a stand are from people who are using the product wrong.

Kind of depressing actually, to know that people wouldn't at least try this obvious solution. This is more like one of those problems you give a 6 year old to solve.

    SERIOUSLY, people.

    Falls over

    • Written by from Somerville

With four sections, the old cover could easily keep the triangle shape needed to prop the ipad up. The new design, with three sections, simply cannot maintain the triangle--it collapses constantly. This is not complicated, a child could intuitively tell you that this would happen. Whoever thought this change would be an improvement needs to be fired immediately.

    A brilliant case

    • Written by from Bedford

I got my ipad air for Christmas and I wanted to protect it from scratches and dinks I searched Amazon for cases as this case was quite expensive I found a few but they looked flimsy and cheap so I bought this from apple. It is a great case feels luxurious when holding and is a great stand for watching films on netflix. Well worth the money!

    Great Case.

    • Written by from LOWELL

I think this case is great it protects the iPad air very well if you have an iPad or are buying one I suggest buying this case I think the price is a little high but in the end very well worth it.
I gave it 4 stars only because I think the price should be a little lower but overall it's a great case and a must buy.

    $80 piece of junk....

    • Written by from PHOENIX

The leather looks and feels great. The left side of the cover is too big and bulky sticking out and looking awkward. The cover never did lay flat when closed, the corners would lift up. I have been trying to get some clarification as to why Apple has only make available a smart case in Leather. On my 3rd generation iPad I had a polyurethane smart cover in Product RED and I loved it. Also the iPad mini still has the polyurethane cover available. My recommendation is to steer clear of this case. Totally disappointed in the design of this product. Epic fail...

    Beautiful but flawed

    • Written by from Kailua-Kona

The case is beautiful, the leather is soft and great quality. The brown looks amazing on the white iPad Air...but...the case does not lay flat at the hinge and it's gap does not get smaller with time and use. I am surprised that Apple released this product the way it is now. As a stand it is flimsy and prone to fall, not as good as the previous smart cases that had the 4 separate magnet design(this only has three, probably due to the fact that it's thinner). Hopefully they will release a better version but as of now it's pretty much an $80 pretty looking case that's not functional.

    Good fit, poor performance

    • Written by from Bronson

This case looks nice but don't plan to use it as a stand. The way the cover folds into a stand it is supported only by magnets and will collapse with slight pressure. Apple missed the mark on this one.

Don't buy it. Wait for next version. Rudimentary design flaw unacceptable

    • Written by from Cupertino

Love the snug fit and the style, but someone in design could have taken the time to actually try to see if it is functional.

When propped upright it constantly falls over. I didn't notice until it was too late (got a scuff mark on it and can't return).

Now headed to the hardware store to buy velcro to fix it the problem.

Love the iPad Air, great job, but the case? Major fail.

    Beautiful case

    • Written by from SOMERSET

This is the best I've used, wonderful quality, very classy, good protection. If you want it to be more useful as a stand, quick fix, clip a bulldog clip to the side of the cover over the first "hinge" from the iPad. This allows the cover to remain rigid while the second fold or hinge folds under to stand the iPad nicely in horizontal format.

For $79 Why Should You Have to Compromise?

    • Written by from Denver

Really? I remember when the iPad first came out Apple was handing out smart covers. Now that iPad accessories have turned into more robust product line for Apple, you see things like $80 covers and $30 30 pin to lightning converters. All this is fine - and Apple should be able to charge what the market will bear... with the caveat that these expensive accessory products should (like the products themselves) actually work and fill a need. Sadly, the leather iPad Air Smart Case falls short of this goal - and doesn't do the trick for me - my chief complaint being that you simply can't use this in portrait (i.e., reading) mode. I returned my case because of this - and because the case itself did not sit flush against the glass surface of the iPad. So basically it did not do what I needed it to do. I'm looking for Apple to step up the quality of its accessory offerings to more than simply white labeling an inferior product. Let's see some of the Jony Ive innovation in the accessory department.

    Smart Case iPad Air

    • Written by from Peru

I like this case. I made a loop out of 1/4 inch elastic to keep it closed and also placed a row of binder clips in the folded edge to make a better crease. After removing the clips, it does close flat. I wish the design would include a silicone bump on the 4 corners to give a little more drop protection, but otherwise am happy with this case. I did purchase it with my Black Friday gift card offer and would not have paid $80 for it. But it is sleek, lightweight, and the cover does provide some resistance that may keep it from slipping out of my hand.
