Moshi ClearGuard Keyboard Protector for Aluminum MacBook Pro

Great for protecting keyboard from any spills or stains from dirty or greasy fingers. At first it's a little awkward to type using it, but you get use to it after a little while. Only downside is that it seems to be blocking the speaker, which isn't a major problem. It doesn't block a great amount of sound. I would prefer my keyboard being protected over the sound not coming through completely.

    Just got this.

I just bought my 13" macbook pro two days ago and i want to make sure i have everything on it protected. I bought the key board cover being a little skeptical. It fits great but it does feel weird when you're typing. I feel like there is a teeny tiny space between the cover and the keyboard keys. But the cover itself is VERY thin. If you're looking to protect your mac, I would get it, if you don't mind trying to get use to the feeling of the keys and stuff.

Works fine - not for fast typers

Just got this for my 13" macbook pro. Fits wonderfully, can't tell its there by looking at it and is ideal if you're just playing music or browsing the internet, but I have found that it is not ideal for typing for any sort of length (I even took it off to type this review). Probably not ideal for people who type in excess of 70-80wpm. I fully intend to keep and use it when I'm casually using my computer such as streaming videos or playing music.

    Very Nice

The keyboard guard is nice and clear and easy to type on. Worth the money spent. One thing I don't like about it is that they don't have it in different colors

    Works Good.

I have used KB covers in the past and this brand seems much thinner. This is better, because it doesn't slow down my typing. I can type about 30 to 40 words per minute without any problems. I don't know why others say the cover moves when typing or sticks to their fingers, but then again it's something that may change with different hands.

I should also point out I'm using an early 2011 MBP 13", and the moshi cover was bought around the same time.

The only con I've noticed is that with the increased thickness the oils, and dirt caught by the cover are then put on the screen unless you put a microfiber cloth on top when you close the laptop. Although, I imagine this would be the case with any cover seeing as Apple machines these units with extreme precision and without the addition of third party accessories.

It has already saved my laptop about 3 times from water damage so I reckon it's paid for itself several times over.

Clear, easy to use, fits keyboard perfectly

This is my second keyboard protector, my first one was useless because it's too thick, very hard to use. I can say I'm happy with this product because I can type easily as if I don't use the protector (yes, it needs adjustment at the first time, give it around one week to get used of it) and it fits the keyboard perfectly (that's the best I think). One question is: can I just let it stay at my keyboard when I close the laptop? Because I heard a lot of advices not to do so, it will give spot to the screen. Pls share your experience. Thanks!

    Almost Perfect

I got this cover to protect my MacBook Pro from finger grease and dirt . . . after owning my MacBook Pro for just over a year, I've noticed that the black keys really start to show these "circles" on the keys where there is finger contact, and I'm guessing it's the cumulative result of the gunk from my fingers slowly building up on the keys. (Do note that I am a very clean person and don't type if my hands are really gross, I guess a certain degree of grease and dirt is just unavoidable.)

I've been using the cover for a few days now, and it seems to be working really well. I like how it silences the keys and makes me feel like I'm being more gentle on the spring mechanism that creates key travel. However, the cover does have a slight "stickiness" to it, and little crumbs and cat hair (I have 3 cats) really seem to stick to it, even though I am not a slob when typing. It also kind of sticks to the screen and makes a weird *skusch* noise every time I open the MacBook.

Other than those minor complaints, overall the product is great. I'm really happy with the cover, and would recommend it if you're looking to protect your keys!

    NIce product

I like the way it fits on the keyboard and I love the fact that it is washable. The only thing that I don't like is the feel of it while it's on the keyboard. It's kinda sticky (I guess 'coz it's silicon). I hope you can also produce a plastic keyboard guard.

Fits perfect in ALL the macbook keyboards!

I bought this item for my MacBook Pro, as it turns out, I tried it on my wife's black macbook. I know that it is exactly the same keyboard but the sales rep in the apple store weren't sure if it would fit or not. Anyway I am glad to inform that it fits perfectly fine in older macbook black or white line. BTW I never rate items more than 5 stars unless they are extremely impressive at an extremely low price. This item does what it is supposed to and nothing more and the price is moderately high.

    A bit dissapointed

After almost two months of extensive use on my MacBook Pro 13 Unibody (used it mainly for programming during this period) these are the problems I found :
    - grease and dirt will stick to it, and get transfered on the screen when closing the laptop but i bought a ScreenGuardz or whatever is called (the special cloth from RadTech), and fixed that
    - now a rather important problem : after a month or so of typing rather frequently, the protector started to bend right beneath the space bar, leaving a huge gap for dust to get inside
It was a great product in the first month, but now, it just refuses to cover the space bar correctly.

    Good!

It's a little squishy when you type, but it is something you can easily get used to. I would recommend it. You can hardly see it, so that is a bonus.

Great product - Irresponsible, too much packaging

Moshi's ClearGuard is a great product. I enjoy using it everyday. It was surprising to discover that such a tiny product was packaged in a huge cardboard box with lots of other packaging material in it. This is irresponsible behaviour towards the environment.

    Good

It is good but it could be better, it makes it harder to press down on the keys but it has saved the the keybord from a soda spill

    using on silver keys...

I don't understand the person from Texas who says it's no good on silver keys. I've used mine for quite a while now and it works beautifully. I would suggest disregarding that comment.

    Not Bad

The Keyboard Protector is not bad, the only thing it looks like it could come off easily. Typing is not bad and the back lit keys are seen easily.

    Very useful

The cover is very thin as they describe. You can feel a difference in the texture when you type - the keys are hard plastic whereas the cover gives them more of a cushion - but overall it really doesn't change the feel of typing much at all. It fits the keyboard pretty much perfectly, although some of the key "holes" are a little off, so you just have to fold that part over to get the cover to fit smoothly on top. The only real issue would be if you absolutely love matte black color of the keys. The cover is slightly opaque so it turns the keys more grey, but the brighter you have to keyboard back light on, the less noticeable it is. Even without the light, it really doesn't make any difference unless, like I said, you are in love with the black.

    Expecting More But Worth Purchasing

The keyboard protector is nice and thin compared to its counterparts and it does a good job at keeping debris out of my keyboard. The fit however isn't exactly as customized as I thought it would be. There is extra space around the F keys and the bottom edge should have been cut a tiny bit more so that it won't roll up if you slide your hands up to the keyboard wrong. Also the way it sits towards the edges isn't completely flush with the aluminum around the keys. So if you type too fast, you will sometimes get the feeling that you might pull up the protector as you type. The protector gets dirty pretty quickly, seems to be a magnet for bits of lint and dog hair, but interferes minimally with typing. All in all I'm glad I purchased it but was expecting a bit more.

    The best yet

I got this keyboard protector two weeks after buying the laptop because I noticed how my keys were getting dirty and wearing out. This is truly a good product to protect your keyboard. It gets dirty from the oil of your hand and may leave marks on the screen but it is barely noticeable. Getting it dirty is better than having your keyboard worn out after much usage. Good investment! One of the perks is it makes typing so much softer, especially when you're typing away in the library or in the room with someone.
