    Good lord...

After seeing the rave reviews here, I expected a lot from this product.

The main palm rest is great...not exactly the best fit, but it still appears to be worth the price. My last laptop had a big spot worn in right there, so I welcome anything that will prevent that.

The part that goes on the trackpad - junk. Instead of feeling smooth like the trackpad, it's rough and gritty feeling...meaning I'm sure it'll get nasty looking with my finger dragging over it for 5-6 hours every day. On top of the gritty feel, it hinders the trackpad's sensitivity just a bit. Now when I tap to click, it rarely works on the first try. I'm sure I'll get used to it eventually, but it looks horrid anyway, so I'll probably end up scrapping the trackpad piece.

That brings me to my only other complaint. The pieces aren't an exact fit, so you have try and center the pieces so that the gap is even on each side...otherwise your MacBook will have uneven gaps between touchpad and body....looking like a car that's been wrecked and the door doesn't line up evenly with the body.

Bottom line...it's an OK product and probably worth protecting the palm area from scratches. But five star reviews people? Really?

    Love the product!

I had the Moshi PalmGuard on my previous white MacBook for over a year and a half and I loved it. It kept the palm area clean and unscratched and was extremely easy to install. The material didn't wear in the entire time I used it. I was a bit skeptical about the PalmGuard for the new unibody MacBook because I figured it would be difficult to color-match the material to the aluminum. I decided to give it a shot since I liked the white one so much. So far its been great! It protects the palm area and track pad just like the older version that I had, and despite my skepticism is matches the color perfectly! I highly recommend this product for anyone who is looking to protect their MacBook!

It was scary installing this palm guard because once it sticks...it sticks! Yet it fits perfectly, the silver color matches precisely and it does a great job of protecting one of the most vulnerable areas of my MacBook Pro

    A must-have product

I absolutely love the Moshi Palmguard! I am using it with my 13" MacBook Pro. It fits perfectly. It is almost unnoticeable. I love the feel of it and it does not reduce the sensitivity of the trackpad. Again, this is a must-have product & I absolutely love it!

I got this wanting to preserve my Mac as best as possible. The overall fit isn't perfect. There is a little gap on both side. The palm guard is a rough, gritty feeling. It isn't smooth at all, same with the track pad. The guard really hinders the tack pad's sensitivity. I can no longer "tap to click" which is something I like a lot rather than clicking. The color of the guard is a little darker than the actual Mac body. I might end up not using the track pad cover at all.

    Great Product

Works great. No complaints here. Even feels good, not grippy on the trackpad. I recommend this product to anyone who wears watches etc.

    My trackpad stopped responding!

I purchased the palm guard together with my 13'' MacBook Pro. I loved it! The colors was perfect, it felt well and I was sure my MacBook not only looks great, but will be protected.

However, a few days ago ( now my MacBook is 6 months old), a certain spot on the trackpad stopped responding. It acted weirdly as it did not want to move and respond to finger movements. I read all sorts of forums, apple support, nothing helped until I decided to unstick the trackpad palm guard. I touched the stop which did not respond and it seemed fine. Then, I sticked back the palm guard and it was working fine.

I have no idea where the problem came from, I would like to understand. Overall, it is a great product, I find it very useful and protecting, but as I described before, for some reason the trackpad did not respond.

Found an easy way to install it

Luckily I found this video on you tube and it works like a charm. Got mine on perfectly
Search for "Moshi palmguard installation" on youtube. It will not let me post the link here.

My only gripe is the track pad sensitivity is reduced. For scrolling it is fine. If you use "tap to click" you have to tap harder.

Moshi did an awesome job on this. It blends in perfectly, and the fit is great. It was very simple to install...took me only one try. I only hoped Moshi had done a full body one for the MacBook Pro, I would most def get it. I also purchased the Moshi keypad cover...Both products are amazing. Fits well, and not noticeable!

    Well worth the money!

I bought the Moshi PalmGuard and the keyboard protector along with my MacBook Pro. The application was easy. I just aligned the edges perfectly and worked my way in securing it. The color matches my MacBook perfectly so I can hardly tell that it's there.

I've read the other reviews on here so I was worried about the trackpad losing sensitivity or responsiveness if I applied the trackpad portion of the guard, but I haven't noticed a difference. If anything, it improved it. I noticed that when I used it without the guard, my finger would occasionally "slip" and the cursor wouldn't move on my screen (especially after washing my hands). The sandpaper-like texture of the trackpad gives it a bit more "grip" when you're using your finger to maneuver.

    Great protection!

I love this product. The application process is so easy with tabs to help you remove the sticky part from the paper. The color and texture match perfectly with my Macbook pro. I have long nails and would hate to ruin the surface of my Macbook, so this is exactly what I was looking for.

Overall a great protection plan for your Macbook!

    Not perfect, but definitely useful

I just purchased the 13.3" MacBook Pro to replace my 3-year-old MacBook. One of the main problems I had with my old machine was that after a while, the palm-resting areas on either side of the trackpad became worn and discolored. I'm very into preserving the out-of-box loveliness of my computer, so I was definitely interested in something that would prevent this (without compromising the overall appeal of the computer).

The moshi PalmGuard is the only product available at the Apple Store to do this, and so far, it does its job well. It blends well with the aluminum frame and also fits pretty well (it's definitely NOT a perfect fit, but it's close enough to not be problematic). The PalmGuard also comes with a trackpad cover, which I have not placed after reading reviews stating that it affects the sensitivity of the trackpad, which I believe. The material is definitely thin, but not thin enough to not affect the trackpad. And, because it's NOT attached to the the PalmGuard, it IS optional.

Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who wants to keep their laptop as pristine as possible.

    Indispensable Product. Awesome Design.

    Well done Moshi!

A great combination of form and function. The die-cut is perfectly aligned to the edges (for me at least) and the protection is IMHO clearly best of its kind, design and class. Also the feel is very natural and it is also very aesthetically pleasing to the eye as well.

Unlike what others have reported I haven't experienced any decrease in sensitivity in the trackpad with the film in place. Gestures are fine and I find the feel a lot smoother. Also keep in mind that if you only plan to use only the palm rest guard without the trackpad film the trackpad will be slightly sunken as the material does add some thickness to the palm rest area and so the outer edges of the trackpad will obviously feel lower. Something to keep in mind I guess.

Lastly maybe others might disagree but I like the little Moshi logo in lower right corner of the palm rest. It's just perfectly subtle for my tastes.

Although I have none myself ... if I had to point out negatives that others might find when considering this product they'd be as such:

    - More or less a one-shot install. You need to be patient and line it up carefully. I start with the bottom edge. Re-applying is out of the question from the looks of it.

    - As with all products of this type you need to make sure the area is clean and wiped down prior to install. The material is very robust and clearly isn't one that will allow any trapped air or dust bubbles to escape out to the edges over time. I reckon any bubbles would be permanent. Take your time.

    - Doesn't fit well when used in combination with a RadTech Screensavrs cloth and/or silicone keyboard cover cloth as combination is too thick for magnetic latch to secure properly. Doesn't bother me, but it might bug some of you.

    That's all I got. Ciao.

INFINITELY better than the older suede version!!

I've gone through two of the older suede versions since I bought my macbook two years ago, and I love them for protecting my macbook, but they drive me nuts because for a student who's on their computer 8+ hours/day, it would just start looking dirty after a few months. So I was so excited when I saw that they improved the model in time for my second replacement. It's great and now (hopefully) I won't have to buy another one in 6-8 months!

    Great Product! Cheap Fix!

I recently dropped my tv remote on the palm rest to the immediate right of the track pad. Of course, my treasured mbp gets its first dent, though minor, it stuck out like a sore thumb, to me at least. So I look at replacement pieces and to my dismay they easily run $300+ with installation. I find this product and not only does it protect the computer, it completely hides the blemish. Blends great with aluminum finish and feels "protective". Install can be tedious, but take your time, it will be worth it. Excellent Product only wish I had found it sooner...

    Great product

This is a great product. The fit is almost perfect, much like the moshi iVisor. Although it is not designed to remove, if you are careful, you can pull it off as you are applying it to make adjustments...just BE CAREFUL if you need to do this. I will confirm the track pad feels rougher with the protection on it, but I have not had any problems with sensitivity. I find the feel of the palm rest to be pleasant, it is a bit rougher, but more of a tactical feel. Color match is spot on. Obviously there is a difference between aluminum and vinyl, so I am not going to say you cannot notice it. It blends in well overall, however. If you are looking for a palm rest protector, you will not be disappointed here.

    Protection, but with bad fit.

It looks nice on besides the fact that the trackpad piece is actually too small for the trackpad so there's an ugly space all around it in which particles collect. The right side of the palm piece keeps peeling up every couple of days. Not majorly, but I have to smooth it out. The feel is like sandpaper, especially on the trackpad. I'll use it because I paid for it and my macbook needs protection, but it's not the best product.

I received the palm guard in the mail and it took one simple easy stick to get it to line up correctly. I LOVE it. My previous laptops have gotten quite dirty for the palm area. It matches perfectly and feels great. My only complaint is I did have to remove the track pad part of it. The sensitivity wasn't great (I do graphic design, so this was important) and there came to a point where it wouldn't register when I moved my finger over it. But overall, fantastic product. I'm buying another one for my husband's MBP.

    Looks great, but bubbles

As others have mentioned, this palm guard is perfectly matched to the Macbook Pro. It fits literally perfectly and even the colour is an exact match. Take the time to fit it exactly, you won't regret it. My problem is that it seems to bubble on the right side. I took the time, I layered it perfectly on the first try and for whatever reason it will occasionally bubble-- especially if I'm sitting outside with it. I didn't even bother with the trackpad cover based on the other reviews. It's a good buy, especially to protect against scratching at the wrist area. I wasn't crazy about the high shipping cost though. It arrived in a huge box when it's really a flat board that could fit in an oversized envelope. Hopefully the shipping costs weren't determined by the size of the box.

    Great function, excellent product!

I have to be honest - I ordered this to bump my order up to $80 to get free shipping, but now I have it on (as of 5 minutes ago!) I love it!
    - Words cannot express how seamlessly it blends with the rest of the laptop body, and the application is easier than I thought. It's thicker than usual stickers so it doesn't bubble. The colour actually does match the laptop's silver!!
    - I know from my previous laptops that it's an important area to protect.
    - Highly recommended.
