Just received. The mounting bolts are way too short for my desk.

Just received this. The mounting bolts are way too short for my desk. I need the ones with the length of 80~85mm. I hope to find these from the local hardware shop. Other than this it looks good. To protect the surface of the desk, a thinner sheet of metal in just the same shape and size of the pole must be much helpful.

    Great mount with minor quirks

Overall I’m very satisfied. There are some quirks. But first the positives. It’s clean and modern looking and the additional space in front of my workspace is great. I’m currently using the 2nd arm to hold my MacBook Pro for accessibility to the new touch bar. The cable management leaves a lot to be desired. Also the fact that my monitor is now at eye level changes everything. It feels like the monitor (27”) is much closer to my face and I sort of like that. The negatives: Ignore the manual requirements for 8mm and 16mm drill bits. Use a 5/16 and 5/8. There is no template for drilling except for the bracket mount so even a slight error in drilling could harm the lining up of the bolts, which is extremely frustrating. You should use two people when attempting to have the bolts “catch”. A vesa mount is needed to attach your monitor to the arm and those are very hard to find on Apple’s site since they’re always sold out. When the installation is completed you’ll need to keep all three Allen wrenches to make adjustments. Adjusting the swivel horizontally is simple since you can leave the bolts somewhat loose. However, the tilt for the monitor must be locked down. All tilts require a wrench with a nice tight turn to lock it. Closing the MacBook lid is scary since there are two lips on the front of the tray that contact the glass when closing the MacBook. Don’t forget to remove your MacBook before closing the lid unless you want broken glass. Lastly, the first time I used the tray it snapped off the arm. Metal chards everywhere. Customer service shipped another one overnight very close to Christmas and this was just great!

    Excellent Mount for any Monitor

I have installed the Mobile Pro desk mount for a 32" Asus PA329 and 2014 15" MBP. The product is excellent. Looks fantastic and operates great. Easy to install but takes a little time

Handles a 32" monitor size wise with no problem. You could even mount 2 side by side. (Depending on weight)

    I would buy this again!

    Hard to decide

I had received this product for two months, now I am still stocked at step one, drill the hole on my desk. It needs a 16mm hole, which I still don't know how to do that. My Milwaukee drill pack doesn't have that big drill, I finally found that size in home depot, but it didn't fit my drill. I will start to looking for how to install this after I have time to brainstorm.

So close and yet so far.

First, if you were thinking Bretford was the Apple of VESA mount solutions, you'll be disappointed. There is attention paid to design, for sure - it's absolutely a good-looking mount - but they don't follow through all the way - there are so many places where this is disappointing.

As many others have said, the packaging is very basic - it feels like a bunch of parts thrown in a box with some styrofoam.

The instructions are just bad. They've gone for the IKEA-style "no words, just pictures" where a few words would have helped enormously on things to watch out for. In particular, pay attention to the orientation of the circular metal template - it looks symmetrical, but it isn't - it really matters which direction the cutout faces.

Like others, I'm mystified by the shortness of the mounting bolts - they should be much longer. I don't have a thick desk, but they barely poke through - perhaps a 1/4 inch.

You'll need a 16mm drill bit and an 8mm drill bit. If all you have are a typical home set of tools, with a handful of basic bits, then you probably won't have these sizes. A trip to the DIY store is called for - you REALLY want to have these exact drill bits.

Perhaps most disappointing is the vertical height adjustment. The arms can go up and down the central pillar, but once you've found a height, you're supposed to fix them in place - there are bolts that are meant to be screwed in with an Allen wrench to fix it in position.

The problem is that if you bought this for a sit/stand solution, where you want to adjust the monitor height several times a day, it's not intended for that. Sure, you can leave the bolts unscrewed, and adjust the height, but you then have the hardware poking out the side of the pillar.

The plastic cap for the top doesn't quite fit perfectly, and leaves a small gap. The "cable management" is fiddly and almost impossible to adjust.

On the plus side, it's solidly built. And once installed, it looks good. It's better looking than most Ergotrons, but Ergotron seem to put more thought into their practical use and installation.

Exactly what I was looking for!

I was looking for a mount that could elevate my two 27" thunderbolt displays and I was looking for more desk space. This did the job. I did not want to drill multiple holes into my desk so i drilled a larger grommet hole that I could later cover with a grommet wire plug if I wanted to sell or re-purpose the desk. The instructions want you to drill 4 small holes and a large center hole. I ended up only using the large bolt and two smaller ones and it was more than enough to support it. My only complaint is that i wish it were easier to adjust the positioning of my displays without having to pull out the 3 different size allen keys that it requires. Other than that, I would recommend this to anyone!

    Couldn't Be More Satisfied

I bought this for my new 27' iMac with Retina display, and it is almost as stunning as the computer. It looks amazing with both my new and old iMac mounted on it, and has given me basically all of space back on my relatively small computer desk, so its functionality is as good as it looks. It was hard to decide which VESA mount to get, and I am so glad that I got this one. Every time someone as seen it, they are blow away by how amazing it is. Even if I only was going to mount a single monitor/computer, I would still get this one so I still had the option to add another screen, device, or iPad at a later date (you don't need to use both arms, and can choose whether you want to mount to the left or the right. Installation was actually easier than I thought it would be as well - Highly Recommended!

    Love mine

Not as flexible as some want for aligning monitors, but really much more durable and well worth it. If you really need monitors the same hight, you need to buy the same model/size.. You should be doing that anyway.

I have mine mounted directly into my desk. Supporting a 34" LG UltraWide (21x9) and a smaller 21" (16x9) screen..

I have a "Bretford MobilePro Desk Mount Combo" There is nothing negative on my part to say about it. It is almost like my butler "I am here to serve you" it says to me. We connect, I enjoy its design and the fact that it is perfect for viewing my recordings from Mastering off of Pro Tools 11, Garageband, Ableton, Etc. It works and it is attractive.

the good the bad and the ugly

Wow. Beautiful design. Fits two VESA monitors effectively on one stand. Yes! just what i was looking for!

But my desk is too thick for the bolts they supply. I have a desk that has a top about 1.25 inch thick and the bolts just barely appear through the top of it, not enough to grab the unit. Nothing in the website or the materials says what desk thickness it is designed to handle.. So,
Call customer service, and am directed immediately to leave a message. No chat help available either. Left a message in the morning and no reply by end of the day! Fortunately I can maneuver around the shop and can find local suppliers of replacement, longer mounting bolts, at my additional expense.

next, the instructions are in metric (calls for a 8mm and 16mm holes in the desk), while the parts are SAE (1/4 inch and 5/8 inch). Matching the 5 desk mounting screws (through the bottom of the desk into the threaded ports) would be easier if they supplied a drilling template with centered drill points (like my doggie door does) but it took a good deal of finagling to get the five screws matched up with the unit.

if you can deal with these potential issues, and the total lack of responsiveness from customer (non)-service, the unit is really great! Love it!

Just be ready to roll up your sleeves...

Beefy, a little ugly, easy to use

This product would probably look better if it was shipped better, it arrived with more than a handful of scuffs along the each of it's pieces. It takes about 10 minutes to get up and running. You attach the main pole to your desk first, then attach the arm(s) to a monitor or monitors, then slide it in place, adjust it, tighten it down.

My arms were a bit tight so I loosened them with an included alan key, it was pretty easy. I like how it's secure but also allow for easy adjustments.

I wish it didn't arrive all scuffed up.

Great Product, A Hassle To Set Up

When I ordered my new late 2012 27" IMac, this mount seemed like a good deal for the price. When I received the product I was astounded by how poorly it was packaged. I understand that this is not an apple product; however, since every other Item I have ever received from apple has been beautifully packaged, I was expecting a certain level of constancy. Upon opening the shipping box I discovered that the mount was just sitting on the bottom under one piece of styrofoam. One of the bags of screws had been torn, and small parts were strewn all over the place. Ignoring the minor inconvenience of the poor packaging, I decided to set the mount up; however, I quickly discovered that the mounting screws were too short to go through my desk
(and I don't have a particularly thick desk) this required me to get out my router and create a cavity for the mount to fit in. All hassle aside, this is an excellent product, If only it were easier to set up, and properly packaged.

    Great Choice

I bought the Bretford MobilePro Desk Mount Combo arm after I had initially purchased a less expensive arm mount for the 27" iMac that was very disappointing. When the Bretford mount arrived, I was impressed by the quality of construction and strength with which it supports the iMac & MacBook Pro. The wire management leaves something to be desired, but it's not awful. Overall, I definitely recommend this product.

    Perfect for Apple Screens

I bought 2 units of the mount combo when I was visiting the USA and I am supper happy!

The product is must have if you have a Thunder Bolt or apple screen 27"
It will make your screen investment even more worth it when you fix it on!

I must say, Bretford has done their R&D and you will not go wrong with this Desk mount Combo.

I highly recommend you to get professionals to DRILL holes on your desk to enjoy the way how you hide the cables in the main Pole.

    Seems to work well.

Tip. Use the supplied mounting plate as a template when drilling into your desk, and drop a bolt or two through the first two holes for proper alignment. Other than a bit tedious to install, im happy with my macbook pro and thunderbolt display sitting over my desk. Works well so far. I did have to rig up a pad for the rear edge of the macbook to keep it from scratching. easy with some adhesive backed foam strips from the hardware store.

    Good not Great

I have owned this for about two weeks and it is extremely well build, solid materials and construction. I have it set up with a Thunderbolt Display 27" and an iMac 27" and have had zero problems, supports the weight and the arms are easy to rotate. The only complaint I have is that you can really only position the displays on the x axis and have to unlock the arms to move them on the y axis w/ only about two inches of adjustment at each level. This makes it impossible for me to align the bottom of the display area on both screens its about an 1.5in off. This is a very slight complaint but one that should be made because the Ergotron desk mounts do not have this problem.

Another thing to consider is cable management, which is amazing unless you forget to connect all your cables when putting it together. For me it is impossible to remove the cable ties when in place, not sure why but I am almost at the point of ripping them out but do not want to damage them. I would recommend that If you do purchase this plan on routing all your cables before you use the cable clamps because they are hard to remove, I had to zip tie additional ones in the back.

Other then that it is nice being able to rotate my monitors in my room for watching a movie in the bed, or on the other side of the room on the sofa. Saves me from having to buy another TV.

    Not very good at all

This is poorly designed. If I wasn't passed my 2 week return period I would be packing it up instead of writing this review. This was TOO expensive to have the following problems for the cost it should work amazingly well but it doesn't!

    1) The attachment to the desk surface it to complicated and over engineered. Why did I need 5 bolts? If anything I feel like I've weakened the desk in the very spot it needs to be at its strongest.

    2) The adjustment of the monitor and laptop holder arms is way too difficult. I've been removing my laptop before adjusting that arm to avoid damaging the computer. This is a PAIN. I should have to fear for the safety of my laptop just to adjust the height

    3) wire management isn't very good and feels like it will break if used too much. To avoid it breaking I've not put the power cable into it since that will be the cable mostly removed. Another PAIN.

It does look very cool and free up desk space but not worth the cost / problems with the design.

Fantastic product with a few flaws

This double-arm VESA display mount is incredibly strong, fairly easy to install, and completely revolutionized my desk - the entire surface of my desk is now usable, and my display and MacBook Pro are perfectly positioned ergonomically. Just as great, I now cannot see a single cable - I hate cables, and that makes me happy. The finish on the post matches all my Apple gear, and the actual arms are over-engineered, rock solid, and easy to adjust.

I have a few criticisms, though. The black plastic cap is ugly (fortunately, it's hidden behind my cinema display). It requires you to drill holes in your desk (no clamp-mount option). Finally, although it includes self-adhesive felt pads designed to protect your lap top from the 4 brackets that hold it in place, it has no felt pads for the four steel bolts that hold those brackets in place. If you don't apply something to protect your computer, they will scratch the heck out of it.
