What is Home Sharing?

Understanding Home Sharing

Home Sharing is designed to let you easily share your iTunes media libraries among up to five computers in your household, as well as extend playback to your iOS devices and Apple TV (2nd generation) on your home Wi-Fi network.

Requirements

Home Sharing requires:

A computer* using the latest version of iTunes

Download the latest version of iTunes for Mac or Windows.

Apple ID (iTunes Store account)

Learn more about Apple ID and get help with your account.

And one or more of the following devices on the same home network:

Another computer*

Another computer using the latest version of iTunes. You can use Home sharing with up to 5 computers.

iOS device

An iOS device with iOS 4.3 or later

Apple TV (2nd generation)

Apple TV (2nd generation) with Apple TV software version 4.2.1 or later

Apple TV (3rd generation)

Apple TV (3rd generation) with Apple TV software version 5.0 or later

* You should also install any available updates for your version of Windows or Mac OS X.
