Before you can work on your photos, you have to move them from your camera to your computer. iPhoto makes this process, known as importing, as easy as connecting your camera to your Mac and clicking a button.
After you connect your camera to your Mac, you can quickly transfer your pictures into iPhoto by clicking the Import button. Once you transfer your photos to your computer, you can delete them from your camera.
If you want to erase your photos from your camera after youve imported them, select the “Remove items from camera after importing” checkbox before importing your photos. If you dont select this checkbox, all of your photos will remain on your camera. You can always delete them later by using your cameras delete feature.
If you have a photo on your camera that youve imported previously, iPhoto will ask you if you want to import the “duplicate” photo. Click No if you dont want to reimport the photo. If you dont want to import any duplicate photos, or want to import all duplicates, select the “Applies to all duplicates” checkbox in the Duplicate Photo window.
