Albums in iPhoto make it easy to organize your photos, but Smart Albums make it even easier. With Smart Albums you dont even have to add photos to your album, iPhoto does it for you once youve set up some criteria. For example, you can create an album that contains only your highest-rated soccer photos from this season.
To keep your collection up-to-date, iPhoto automatically updates your Smart Album when any photo that matches the albums settings is added to, or removed from your library.
You can use the Add (+) button to create a new Smart Album. Just press the Option key on your keyboard and when you see the Add (+) button change to the gear icon, click it to create a new Smart Album. Type a name for your album, add your criteria, and click OK.
To edit the settings for a Smart Album, select the album in the Source list, and then choose Edit Smart Album in the File menu.
While you are in the Smart Album sheet, you can add multiple search criteria to your Smart Album. This can come in handy if you are looking for pictures taken between specific times. As an example, you might want a Smart Album that contains pictures taken between 1999 and 2001.
