Send Photos in Email Messages

One of the easiest and quickest ways to share your digital photos with friends and family is to send photos in email messages. Select the photos you want to send, and then just click the Email button in the toolbar to open a new message with the photos already included.

Tips

Choose the email application you want iPhoto to use

You can choose the email application that will open when you click the Email button in iPhoto. From the iPhoto menu, choose Preferences. From the "Email photos using" pop-up menu, choose the email application you want iPhoto to use.

Add photos you receive in email to your iPhoto library

With iPhoto, you can import an image you receive in your email. Drag the image from your email message to your Desktop, and then drag it into iPhoto. If you’re using Mac OS version 10.4, you can click the Slideshow button right from your message, and click Add to iPhoto on any photo you want.

Steps

Send a photo in an email message

  1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
  2. Select the photos you want to include in your email message.
  3. Click the Email button in the toolbar.
  4. In the Mail Photo window that appears, choose a size from the Size pop-up menu. Smaller photos are faster to send and download (the estimated size of the file will be shown in the window).
  5. Click the Titles and Comments checkboxes if you want to include this information with the photo you’re sending.
  6. Click the Compose button. A new email message opens, ready for you to address and type your text in. Your photo appears in the body of the message, or as an attachment, depending on the email program you’re using.
  7. After you’ve prepared your message, send it, and your photos are on their way.
