Further Customize Your iPhoto Book

You can make an iPhoto book out of any photos in your iPhoto library. The process is very easy if you allow iPhoto to make your book automatically, but if you want more control over your book project, here’s how you can make your book manually.

iPhoto books make great mementos, and because the books stay in your Source list, you can change them or update them at any time.

Tips

Change the order of pages in your book

First you will want to click the View pages of this book icon in the shelf, then click and drag the pages around in the shelf. If you would like to change a single page, you will need to click the single page icon next to View, then rearrange the pages in the shelf.

Change the order that photos appear on a page

By default your images are added in the order that they appear in the Album or how they are selected, but you can easily change the order of images in your iPhoto books. First select the iPhoto book in the Source list, then go to the page you would like to change the images around in. Click and hold the image you would like to change, and drag it to the page you would like it placed on.

Change the theme of your book at any time

At any time you can change the theme of your book by clicking the Themes button and choosing a different theme. When you change the book theme your images are re-ordered by AutoFlow to make the specs of the new book. Because of this you will want to make sure your book looks the way you like. You may need to move images around to reach the desired look of your book. Note that when you change themes for a book, any text you entered will be erased.

Steps

Manually set up an iPhoto book

  1. Start your book project by organizing a photo album.
  2. Click Book, select a theme, and then click Choose Theme.
  3. Navigate to the page you want to add photos to by clicking the Page View button or using the arrow buttons, and then add photos by dragging them from the Unplaced Photos view.
  4. Set the number of images you want on that page, and drag pictures into the picture frames. If you choose a page format with text, you can add text or picture captions.
  5. Set the font and style of any text.
  6. Drag photos around as needed. You can change the layering for your photos by right-clicking on the photo (Control-click with a one-button mouse) and selecting Move to Front or Send to Back.
  7. When you’re finished editing, you can click Buy Book to purchase your custom book design.
