Find Music on the iTunes Store

With over two million songs, the iTunes Store is a great way to add songs to your iTunes Library. Browse genres, locate chart-toppers, or search for old favorites. Even if you can’t remember the exact name of the song you’re looking for, you can search a partial name. You might be surprised to find a few different versions of the song, performed by different artists, or recorded live.

Tips

Search for a specific song, artist, or composer

When you type in the Search field in the upper-right corner of the iTunes window, iTunes finds all artists, songs, albums, videos, and audiobooks that match. To search only by artist, song, album, genre, composer, or any combination of the above, click Power Search in the left column of the iTunes Store.

Get a free song every week

The iTunes Store is regularly updated with new music, and every week you can download a free song by an up-and-coming artist. This song is available as a free download for one week only. But if you miss this week’s free song, it’s still available for purchase on the iTunes Store.

Discover new music with iTunes Originals, iTunes Essentials, Celebrity Playlists, and iMixes

The iTunes Store makes it easy for you to find new music. Check out iTunes Originals for studio sessions, exclusive live tracks, and interviews from today’s hot artists. Look through iTunes Essentials and Celebrity Playlists to find music recommended by music experts and artists. The iTunes Essentials collections take the guesswork out of finding new music you’ll enjoy. To see collections created by other Music Store users, click iMix.

Use iTunes charts to find popular music of the past and present

The iTunes Store includes Billboard charts from 1946 to the present. Take a walk down memory lane and browse the Billboard charts by year.

Find the top songs on radio stations nationwide

If you want to own a song you’ve been hearing on your favorite radio station, click the Radio Charts link on the iTunes Store homepage. Find the city closest to you in the City column, and then select a radio station to see and preview the most popular songs for that station.

What do the arrows next to songs, artists, and albums mean?

In the iTunes Store and in your own music library, you may notice small arrow icons next to songs, artists, and albums. If you click an arrow next to a song or album name, you will be taken to the album’s page in the iTunes Store. If you click the arrow next to an artist, you will go to the artist’s page in the iTunes Store. This is a great way to keep up with the latest music by a particular artist or find different versions of your favorite songs.

Make a "wish list" with previews from the iTunes Store

While you’re browsing new songs in the iTunes Store, you might want to keep a list of the songs you’re thinking of buying. Create a new playlist and call it "wish list." Drag any song preview into your wish list. When you’re ready to buy, you’ll be able to quickly find all the songs you want.
